Board game - prompt 30
30: take an ordinary, boring story opening, such as your character waking up in the morning, or something else that others may think is dull or cliche and make it something brilliant. Make it unique and different, something worth reading.
The birds chirped outside the small window and the sun rays hit her face through the cracks of the wooden house.
"One more minute, George."
"Wake up, princess."
She tried to move her body and cover her body with the blanket but her arms wouldn't move.
"What the-" she gasped and opened her eyes.
That's not my room, she thought. And he's not my butler.
"Finally," the tall man said. She couldn't see well but his blonde hair stood out.
Her head was pounding and her heart started beating abnormally as she looked around. She was in a small room, the only window sealed and the floor dirty with mud and a few orange leaves. Her arms and her legs were tied and her whole body ached.
"Where am I?" she asked, trying to remember anything from the previous night.
"That's not important." The man grinned. "You should ask why."
"What do you want?" she gritted her teeth.
"I want nothing from you. But your father can give me a lot." He took a knife from his back pocket and started sharpening a wooden stick.
Suddenly, she remembered last night's party. She was in a club with a few friends, drinking and dancing all night. Until she met a new guy. She thought he would be another one on her list but instead-
"You attacked me!" she screamed.
The man laughed. "You are cute."
The woman's lips turned into a thin line. "Let me go. I'll make sure my father will pay you a lot. Just let me go, please," she begged as her face got paler.
The man didn't speak. He continued sharpening the stick as if she hadn't talked.
"Help!" she started screaming. "Help!" She made a hoarse sound as the air left her lungs.
"Scream as much as you want. No one will hear you here."
Tears started running on her cheeks. "What do you want?" Her voice was almost a whisper.
"Your father stole something from me and I want it back."
She shook her head. "No. My father wouldn't steal. Not even from you," she spat.
"You don't know anything about him, princess."
"Stop calling me that!" Her face turned red as he walked closer.
A devious smile appeared on his face. "Stay comfortable. You'll be my guest for a while, princess." He highlighted the last word and gave her one last stare.
He turned around and walked toward the door. "Don't leave me here!" she said and moved her body, trying to escape from the ropes. The chair clacked against the floor.
The man stopped for a second before opening the door. The woman closed her eyes as the sun's rays blinded her.
"Please," she begged one more time as the door closed and she was left alone in the dark cabin.
