Board game - prompt 22
I used the prompt to continue the previous story about Elektra.
22: All the two's 22. Continuing where you last finished writing the next scene in the second person this time your character is going on a boat trip to...
You still couldn't believe everything that Susan had told you. It was true that the water could change shapes when you touched it, and those yellow lines were brighter every day, but you didn't want to admit that you had changed.
"Are you ready?" Susan broke the silence.
You looked at the young doctor who was now dressed casually. She was older than you, almost thirty, but she looked younger.
"Almost."
You put your passport and the last items in your bag. Three days had passed since you had woken up and Susan had promised that on the third day you would leave the hospital and visit the closest base of your team.
"Your"
You were one of them. Maybe if you repeated the phrase in your head many times, you would believe it.
"Adam and Brian said that I can rely on them if something happens. They believed that I would still go to my birthplace and find my birth parents."
Susan smiled. "They are good people."
Putting on your new coat –the one Susan bought because yours was ruined at the accident- you checked out the window. "It's going to rain."
"Don't worry. Our captain can handle anything."
You raised your eyebrow. "Captain?"
Susan's smile turned into a grin. "Oh, I must have skipped that part. The base is on an island near Saltwater Lake."
"I know that place. It's abandoned," you said.
"Well, not really. Anyway, we should go," Susan said and opened the door.
She had prepared the car for the small trip –you needed four hours to go to the lake- but you were too nervous to get excited about it.
"It'll be fine. They'll help you control your powers."
"I don't need-" you murmured, and a spark flew from your fingers to the Susan.
She was fast enough to tilt her head and avoid it. "You were saying?"
You pouted. "Fine. I might need a little help."
Your new friend laughed as she started driving. "Are you ready for the next big adventure of your life?" she asked you.
"No." You shook your head.
"You are funny. Saltwater Lake, we are coming!" she said and accelerated, leaving behind you the hospital and your old life.
