A Review of Releasing Sin by @Sam_Castle

It's probably no surprise whatsoever, that I love Milton's Paradise Lost. I've found inspiration in it for years now. It's very close to my heart, and I sometimes think of it as my precious. So, when I saw that Sam had posted a horror story inspired by said piece, I was super-duper excited.

This short story starts out with some gloomy Stephen King-ish chills: a lone wolf named Jackie on a deserted highway (enter fog banks, posessed car and eerie atmosphere) but quickly evolves into something else. Just when you think Jackie, our heroine, should be afraid of being alone outside, she finds her way inside (a church where a demon named David awaits). As the plot spirals, it takes some seriously hard turns. This work is fast paced; gory, intense and psychologically scary with a real worst-bad-dream-ever like tension. If it were a film, every shot would be taken at an off kilter angle. It would have tedious music. It would wind down dark tunnels and it'd let your brain work its scariest magic.

If the end of Rosemary's Baby gives you the willies and if you're like me: wanting every twist of plot to have you begging to be on the opposite side of the room/ tomb/ door; if you like the word plop and want to know what fear really smells like, I'd advise you to check out Sam Castle's Releasing Sin.
