Narrators POV
It was a quiet peaceful Friday afternoon in Beach City. Everything was familiar. Jasper and Bluebird were still on the run, the Off Colors graduated from Little Homeschool and they went with Lars into space and Sadie Killer and the Suspects departed from there usual performances.
While in Homeworld, everybody is getting used to Spinel being on Pink's throne and they all ask her questions, questions about her past life and what has it been like to be stranded for so long.
The world felt calm and relaxing, a feeling that most people here in Beach City have to get wielded too.
Two familiar pink sandals stepped onto the cemented concrete of the sidewalk on the Southeast side of the city. It was Steven.
Steven Quartz Universe.
He has been growing up in this city for 17 years and throughout that timeline, he made history, mistakes, and discoveries. As Steven is walking he contains a neutral face. He thinks about his treasures and the memories he had on the land. Then he sees friends that he shared those memories with.
Dewey, the former mayor of the city that taught Steven how to be the supreme leader of the city.
Peedee (or as Steven would call him, "The Bits Man"), a childhood friend of Steven that still hangs out with him to this day.
Ronaldo, a conspiracy theorist that wishes for Steven to, "Keep Beach City Weird".
Sadie, a long time partner of Steven that helped him bring out his musical side.
After he greeted his friends once more, he continued to walk. The more and more he walked the deeper and deeper his thoughts were. He knows that everything in his past life was important, monumental, game-changing, extraordinary but he focuses on his future, where would life take him next, and what are his goals to achieve?
He then turned around and stepped on the smooth tiny layers of the beige blistering sand.
Looking up and to the right, he sees the endless aquatic ocean practically beholding no limitations. He stares and stares at the water as it spews onto the wet sand. His mind ventures off for a bit, wondering about his own impediments.
He soon reaches back to the temple but before he gets inside, he sits down on the sand and looks into the never-ending ocean again.
Steven's POV
What is my future?
I sit there on the sand for several minutes thinking to myself that same question. Earth is finally back the way it should be, but it's almost...
Too vacant.
Everybody has their own goals to administer, but for me it's different. I've already completed my goals.
.To fully comprehend my powers.
.To meet my other half.
.Learn more about my mother.
.Stop Homeworld's escapade.
.Make a place for all the gems who seek out to have a purpose.
.To have my first graduating class of Little Homeworld.
So that begs the question.
What is my future?
I then lay down on the sand using my shield as a pillow. I admire the tangerine sky, gazing at the humongous fluffy clouds that lurk over. There also endless.
Everywhere I go seems to be endless.
Two big footsteps start to emerge from behind me. I look up to see Garnet hovering over me by her height.
"Hey bud, what are you doing?" She said concerned but smiling giving off a hint of sarcasm.
I spring back saying, "Garnet, you know everything I do."
We both shared a nice laugh, based on the fact that she has future vision.
"Yeah I know." she said charmingly.
There was a short pause after that.
Then she started to explain that's on a serious level.
"Look, Steven, I know how difficult it could be to think about the future. Trust me I've been there. The first time I was formed on Homeworld, I didn't know what was my purpose or how's life going to operate now that I was a fusion. However, as days and years and centuries past by, I had realized something...
There is no end."
I can see it now, all the objectives that I have accomplished led to another and then another, to the point where there is no ending to my objectives. Every day is filled with new possibilities and expectations but it is all up to me to make those circumstances come true.
"Do you get it now Steven?" she said with a huge grin on her face notifying once more that she has future vision.
I giggle a bit before saying with confidence, "Yes I do."
"Thank you"
We both share a hug.
I stay and sit on the sand while Garnet heads back to the temple.
I then look into the ocean once more that is steamed with white light reflected from the moon as the sun goes down.
I eventually revamp a piece of a song, a song that even gives me some nostalgia as I reflect on what I've heard.
Isn't this such
A beautiful night
Whoa
Where underneath a thousand stars
Isn't it nice to find yourself somewhere different
Whoa
Why don't you let yourself just be whoever you are
