Everything is terrible, Then it's worse
this chapter is dedicated @cheribibicorazonado . thnx for reading my story luv.
Things could not have been going any more wrong for Louis. Tomorrow marks 3 months that Harry has been in a coma. The doctor had informed Anne that there was a slim chance of recovery and that she should start thinking about pulling the plug. Even though Louis had thoroughly protested, Anne said she felt it may be best. She didn't want to keep him here if he could possibly be suffering. Gemma was very upset and stormed out of the hospital with Louis and the rest of Harry's friends in tow. No matter what they tried to reason, it had failed. Now, tomorrow would be Harry's last day alive if he didn't wake up before they pulled the plug. So the only thing everyone could do was pray for a miracle.
Besides worrying about losing Harry, Louis has been getting weird phone calls for the past 2 days. There is always someone on the line breathing heavily but they won't speak. He hasn't told anyone about this, but of course, Harry knows. Louis feels a little shaken by this, especially with the threat from Zayn. He still can't believe Zayn is in love with Harry and the threats he made. He is not afraid for himself, but more so for Harry. He just hopes Zayn comes to his senses and doesn't do anything crazy.
Even though they feel it may be in vain, Louis and Perrie are currently at Harry's getting things cleaned and ready in case he wakes up and can come home. "So what do you think Per?" Louis asked while he wiped down the counters. I don't know Louis. There has been no response this whole time. It will take a miracle for him to survive when they pull the plug," she responded sadly. Louis tried his best not to cry. He had not been able to talk to Harry since he woke up this morning and if things went badly tomorrow, he would have no way of saying goodbye.
He plopped down on the couch as he cried silently, praying for a miracle. "Aww, babe. It will be alright," Perrie said in a soothing voice. "Just have a little faith." Louis accepted Perrie's embrace as she sat down on the chair beside him. "I have faith Per. It's just hard. I can't sense him anymore. He has been with me since day one and now nothing. I'm scared," he told her. Perrie just held him tighter and tried to comfort him even though she knew they would probably lose Harry. After they were done with the cleaning, they put everything away and decided to head to the club for a while and get a few drinks; anything to take their minds off of what would happen tomorrow.
"Hi guys," Louis yells as they approach the bar. Niall and his boyfriend Steve are sitting down with a few shots each. Louis assumes he and Perrie are not the only ones trying to forget about tomorrow. Liam is just sitting at the bar with his head down. Louis walked over and held him tight whispering soothing words to him as Liam let a few tears fall. It is such a sad time for everyone and it could possibly be worse tomorrow.
"So... what time do we have to be there tomorrow," Liam asks as he dries the tears from his eyes. "I'm not sure Liam. I will call Anne to find out." Louis told him and pulled out his phone. After three rings, Anne answered the phone sounding completely defeated. "Hello," she breathed out in a sigh. "Hi Anne," Louis said into the line. "Hello, Louis. I assume you are calling about tomorrow, yeah?" she asked before Louis could tell the purpose of his call. "Yeah that," Louis said a bit hesitantly. "That and to see how you are holding up," he said. He could tell she was out of it and who wouldn't be. He didn't even know what to say to her for the first time in his life.
After a brief pause, Anne let out another sigh. "I don't know what to do, Louis. This is the hardest decision I have ever made in my life. I don't want to lose my son but I don't want to hold him here suffering." She said through her tears. "I just want him to wake up. I have prayed so hard. I feel so lost." I felt tears well up in my eyes and I tried to blink them away but it was of no use. I let out a sob and Liam came and took the phone and wrapped his arms around me. "I'm sorry Anne but Louis has gotten a bit choked up. We are all praying everything will turn out alright tomorrow. We just have to have a bit of faith, yeah?" Liam asked. "You are right, Liam. Also, thank you for being such a good friend to Harry over these years. I think he wouldn't have held it together this long if he didn't have you to lean on." "Thank you, Anne," Liam replied. "We have been there for each other. Harry has brought me through a lot as well. He is like a brother to me."
After a few more words were exchanged, Anne informed Liam that they should all be at the hospital by noon. The plug will be pulled at 1 pm. As Liam passed the phone back to Louis, who had somewhat composed himself, he told them they had to be at the hospital by 11 am. Louis looked at his watch and began to sob again as he realized in the next fifteen hours he could lose Harry and he was not prepared for that. He could never be prepared for it.
As the night drug on, no one really spoke. Louis drank and drank and drank. Liam tried to get him to stop but he didn't listen. After he was so drunk he could barely stand, Perrie, cut him off. She regretted not doing it sooner. Liam agreed to get him home and into bed. He kissed Perrie and told her he would return shortly. He grabbed Louis from the stool carrying him bridal style. "Leeyuuum, put me d-down. Pwease, I n-ne-need anotha drink. Leeeeee, please," Louis continued to beg. Liam pretended not to hear him and continued to his car, carefully strapping Louis in his seatbelt and moving around to the driver side. After he slid in a put on his seatbelt, he looked over to Louis. He was so out of it. Even though he was pissed, as he looked over to Liam, you could still see all the hurt and pain he felt. He felt so bad for him. He just wished things could have turned out differently for Harry and Louis. Everyone deserves love. Even though they have had a hard ten years apart, they still somewhat found their way to each other again. Sadly a coma is standing in the way of everything and tomorrow everything may be over. Hopefully, everything will work out. He hated seeing Louis, as well as everyone else, so down.
As Liam pulled up to Louis' apartment building, he noticed Louis mumbling. "Harry, please," He heard Louis whispering. "Why won't you talk to me? Did you stop loving me now? Are you mad at me? Please talk to me Hazzie," Louis whispered through broken, slurred English. It was so sad and it nearly brought tears to Liam's eyes as he carried Louis to his apartment. He pulled his keys from his pocket and carried Louis inside his bedroom. He helped him out of his pants and shirt before helping him get into bed. "Thank you, Li," Louis said as he pulled the covers up to his chin. "Hazzie won't t-talk to me now s-so I guess I'll sleep," he said tearing up and slurring a bit. "Alright mate. Goodnight, Lou. Call me as soon as you are up in the morning. You, Perrie and I can ride to the hospital together," he said hoping Louis didn't burst into tears. Louis shook his head in agreement and closed his eyes. "Goodnight Li," he said and drifted off to sleep.
Liam waited until he knew Louis was fast asleep before he left him. He began to wonder a bit about why Harry was no longer speaking to Louis. Louis had proven on more than one occasion that Harry speaks to him and it was daily. Now, there was nothing. He hoped that was not a sign of something terrible happening. He shook those thoughts from his head as he made his way to the door. When he opened it, he stumbled back a little. There was a man standing there claiming to be Louis' boyfriend. "Can I help you," Liam asked the man who was standing there with a key in his hand. "No, but I am Thomas. I am Louis' boyfriend," the man replied. Liam told the man that Louis was asleep and he should come back tomorrow. He thought it was so strange for Louis to say he was in love with Harry, yet he had a boyfriend who was standing here with a key to his place.
The man agreed to come back the following day and Liam closed and locked the door. They walked down to the lift together and bid each other farewell as they exited the building. Liam decided to call Perrie to let him know he was on his way back. First, he stopped off at the store for some crisps and a soda. When he entered the car again, he called Perrie. He told her about the man who showed up as he was leaving. "Liam," Perrie shouted. "Did he leave?" she asked in a panic. "Yes, Perrie he did. We walked out together," Liam replied. "Something doesn't feel right Liam. Louis broke up with Thomas weeks ago. He had no reason to be there and Louis never said he gave him a key," she said. "Maybe I should go back and check on him, yeah?" "I think you should babe. Please. I'm a bit worried," Perrie said.
Liam turned the car around to go back and check on Louis. He was speeding a little but he didn't care. His friend could possibly be in danger and he needed to get there. As he pulled up to the complex, he parked his car and sprinted to the lift. He tapped his fingers on the railing impatiently as it seemed to take forever to get to Louis' floor. Once the doors opened, he flew to Louis' door. After he was inside he ran to Louis' room to find him peacefully sleeping in his bed. He called Perrie to let her know Louis was safe and that he would stay with him for a bit before he comes back.
After they were done talking, Liam realized he was still hungry. He went to Louis' kitchen to find something to snack on. There was literally nothing there that went together. Louis had cereal but no milk. There was macaroni but no cheese. He didn't have any chips, cookies, or anything like that.
After debating for nearly fifteen minutes, he decided to go to his car to grab his crisps and his drink. He made sure to lock the doors and move as quickly as possible so he could hurry back to Louis. As he was walking onto the lift, Perrie called to check in. When answered and began telling her he was going to his car to get his crisps and drink, he never noticed the door to the stairwell opening. As he entered the lift, he didn't notice the man at Louis' door. And as the lift doors closed, he didn't see the man open the door, hurrying inside.
