seven. work this out

chapter seven!

work this out!

IT WAS THE DAY before Thanksgiving and Kia couldn't be more excited. She wouldn't stop thinking about her grandmother's famous turkey and ham. Just the thought of it made her mouth water. Wearing a pink graphic tank top, black skirt, and Doc Martens, she opened her locker. Her hair was still in the French braids from yesterday.  As she grabbed her books, Issac walked down the hall. "Morning, Peters." Rolling her eyes, she shut her locker. "What do you need, Garcia?"

"Can't I say just say hi to you, Peters?"

"Only when you want something."

"That's not true."

"Sure, Garcia."

The bell rang, signaling for the two of them to go to science.  The both of them agreed to work on it the following day but since they weren't busy after school, they could just try and finish their solar system.

Once science was over, Kia walked with Grace to homeroom. "I saw Issac's Instagram post yesterday."

"Oh."

"I think it's nice that you two are becoming friends."

"I mean, I guess."

"But I don't think you two are just friends."

"What do you mean?"

"He posted all of those pictures of you and like one photo of himself.  He definitely likes you."

"Why would he like me? We don't really get along, plus he hates me."

"Do you hate him?"

"Grace, unless you think this is an enemies to lovers kind of thing, it's not going to happen.  Me and Garcia are always going to be enemies and nothing is going to change that."

"Whatever you say, Kia."

School was finally over as Kia went to her locker, grabbing her stuff.  The girl noticed people putting up posters for the upcoming school dance.  She mentally noted that she would ask her friends if they wanted to go together.  Issac walked up to her, growing impatient.  "We don't have all day, Peters."

"Shut up, Garcia.  I'm getting my books."

Closing her locker, the two of them walked out of the school.  "Aren't you supposed to have skating practice, Peters?" Issac asked.

"Yes but my teacher canceled it since tomorrow's Thanksgiving. Also, this gives us more time to work on our project.  Wait, where's Lee?"

"He's hanging out with Samira." Issac stated.   "They've been spending time together a lot lately."

Issac shrugged, "I don't know what that's about." The two of them walked in silence until they reached the house.  Knocking on the door, Alex let the two inside.  As she walked in, Parker ran up to Kia, hugging her. "Kia! Why were you gone yesterday?"

"I had skating practice after school.  Me and your cousin hung out."

"That's cool! Although, I think Issac definitely l-"

"Okay, kid.  That's enough sugar for you." Issac stated, shooing his younger cousin out of the room.

"Why did you cut her off?"

"We have a project to work on, Peters. We need to stay focused."

Kia rolled her eyes, "Fine.  Are Alex and Nathan here?"

"I think so. I'll get the fake planets and you can start filming."

"Or I can get the fake planets and you can start filming."

Issac rolled his eyes, "I'm not doing that."

"Yes, you are."

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Yes."

"Yes."

"Really?"

"No!"

"You two fight like an old couple." Parker yelled from the kitchen.

"No we don't!" the two of them exclaimed. Issac sighed, "Fine. I'll film and you can use... the fake planets."

"Thank you, Garcia. I'll be right back."

AN HOUR LATER, the two of them were finished collecting more data.  Sitting in Issac and Lee's room, the two were finishing up their slideshow. Lee entered the room, pacing back and forth. "Dude, can you stop doing that? What's wrong?" Issac asked. Lee closes the door, "You know how me and Samira were hanging out today?"

"Yes... what did you do?"

"Lee, I swear if you did something to her-"

"I didn't do anything to her. Aunt Katherine and Uncle George want to meet her tomorrow."

"Why do they want to meet her?"

"Me and Samira are... dating."

"What?"

"Oh my god, Lee! Why didn't you tell me? This is great!"

"How is this great, Peters? His girlfriend is meeting our family when they haven't even been together for a month yet!"

"At least she isn't dating Greg. Promise me you're treating her right?" Kia asked. Lee nodded, "I promise I am. I'm not going to treat her like fucking Greg."

"Good. But I'm sure you'll be fine, Lee. Now go give her a call and tell her what's happening tomorrow." Kia stated, opening the door and pushing him out of the room. "Hey!" Lee exclaimed.

"Sorry, Garcia. We can continue finishing up our slides."

"Thank you.  I thought you and Lee would talk forever." he complained.  Kia rolled her eyes, "He's dating my best friend, Garcia. I have to make sure that she doesn't get hurt again."

Issac smiled, "He won't. If he does, I'll deal with him for you."

"Good.  Otherwise, I'd do it myself."  The two of them laughed.  Were they actually friends?

Maya Speaks 💫:

Unfortunately they aren't actually friends and this is a slow burn 😔
