I would never tell her this, but I was kind of glad that Reed hated my motorcycle. No, it wasn't because I enjoyed freaking her out, though that could be entertaining. It was because when she was scared, Reed would hold onto me tighter, and she'd pull herself closer to me.
Reed was doing just that as I turned into the school parking lot. I parked in my usual spot on the outer edge of the parking lot, and then I turned around to help Reed off of the back of my motorcycle.
"You know," Reed said as she yanked off my helmet, "You could always sell Betty and get a nice, safe car."
I laughed and gestured towards my leather jacket, which she was wearing. "And you could give me back my jacket," I replied, raising an eyebrow, "but we both know neither of those things are going to happen."
Reed stuck her tongue out at me, and her nose crinkled in that cute way that I loved. She shook out her copper hair, which set her apart from so many people, and I wrapped my arm around her shoulders after climbing off of my bike.
As we walked towards the school, I glanced over at Reed and asked, "Would you be willing to go off campus for lunch today?"
"That depends," she replied, looking up at me with her intense blue eyes.
"On what?" I asked, and Reed grinned.
"On if you intend to keep me out even after lunch is over," Reed finished, and I sighed. The girl knew me creepily well.
"I can't share my evil plan with you," I said simply, and Reed raised her eyebrows. "It doesn't matter what you say, though, because I'm kidnapping you," I stated, and Reed snorted.
"Oh, I feel so threatened," she replied with a laugh. "I'm quaking in my flip flops." I rolled my eyes and leaned over, and I planted a kiss on Reed's temple.
Finally, when I hugged and kissed Reed, it was real to both of us. We were together, and I mean really together, and I was ecstatic. Reed was the first girl I'd ever fallen in love with, and the fact that she loved me back was a huge relief.
The light atmosphere around Reed and I was quickly shattered as Triss appeared in front of us. Looking from her to Reed, I had no idea why I'd been with her, other than the fact that she put out, and I had been quite the man-whore before falling for Reed.
"You two look pretty buddy-buddy for having a huge fight at Ben Collins's party," Triss commented, pursing her lips and crossing her arms over her overly-exposed chest.
"Seriously, Triss?" Reed asked, ducking out from underneath my arm. She took a step closer to Triss and put her hands on her hips. "It's old news. You lost your chance to bitch about it."
"I haven't seen you," Triss replied, narrowing her black-rimmed eyes, "Otherwise, I would have confronted you."
"I find it pathetic that you plan your days around me," Reed stated, reaching back towards me. Without hesitation, I slipped my hand in hers, and Reed started to pull me towards the school and away from Triss.
"At least he never cheated on me!"
Reed stopped in her tracks, and she glanced over at me before turning to face Triss. We both knew that Triss was referring to the fact that I'd been alone in a laundry room with a half-naked drunk girl. Reed and I hadn't talked about that yet, and it was obvious that the situation was still a raw subject for Reed. I couldn't blame her for that.
Reed's face was turning as red as her hair, and I knew that she was a second from exploding all over Triss. As entertaining as that could possibly be, I was still holding Reed's hand, and I squeezed it to remind her where she was. Then, gently, I pulled Reed into my side and wrapped my arm around her shoulder. I turned my attention to Triss.
"Stop trying to stir shit up," I said coldly, and I glared at her, "We're over, and I'm with Reed now. Whatever you and I had, Triss, wasn't nearly as special as what I have right here." I nodded at Reed, and then without giving Triss a chance to reply, I turned and Reed and I walked towards the school.
"That might've been the first time you've snapped at Triss for me," Reed commented as I held the school door open for her.
"Really?" I asked, and after racking my brain for a moment, I realized that she was right. "Shit, Reed," I said, feeling like a jerk, "I'm really sorry."
"It's fine, Parker," Reed replied with a chuckle, and she winked at me before adding, "I'm a big girl. I can deal with girls like Triss."
"Oh, I know you can," I said, grinning at the memory where I'd had to practically drag Reed away from Triss and Maya when they'd put condoms in her locker. As serious as the situation had been back then, it was even funnier looking back on it.
I walked Reed to her locker, and she gathered the notebooks and folders that she needed. I leaned against the locker next to hers and sighed.
Reed and I had officially been dating since Saturday, and we'd pretty much been inseparable. On Sunday, we'd been hanging out at my house, and I introduced her to my family, since my dad and stepmom had been home from work.
Reed was the first girl I'd ever introduced to my parents. When I'd told her that, I made sure to emphasize how special I thought she was. Of course, Marisol had then kidnapped my girlfriend to play Barbies. The only way we were able to actually spend the afternoon together was if I joined their game and played as the Ken doll. For that hour and a half, my masculinity felt seriously threatened, but it was worth it in the end.
Reed slammed her locker shut, and she slipped her hand in mine as we walked down the hallway towards her homeroom. However, just as we turned the corner, Reed stopped. "What's wrong?" I asked, glancing over at her to see a troubled expression.
"Can I ask you something?" Reed asked, pulling me into the doorway of a janitor's room.
"Go ahead," I replied, and Reed frowned.
"Why were you in that laundry room with that girl at Ben Collins's party?" she asked, and I sighed and rubbed the back of my neck. I knew that this question was coming, and Reed did deserve an answer.
"I was standing in the kitchen, admittedly getting jealous that you'd come with Jace, and the girl, whose name I can't even remember, came into the room," I said, remembering how she practically ran into a wall on account of how drunk she was, "Somehow, she knew who I was, and she asked if I could show her to the bathroom because she felt like she was going to throw up."
"Did you believe her?" Reed questioned.
I paused before shaking my head. "No," I admitted, jamming my hands into my pockets, "I didn't, and she pulled me into the laundry room instead of the bathroom. I knew what she wanted to do, but despite how jealous of Jace and you, I couldn't do anything with her. I was about to walk out when you opened the door."
I felt awful about what I did. I went with the girl out of jealousy, and subconsciously, I probably intended to hurt Reed, who I loved. It was a horrible thing to do, and I regretted it, especially since she'd walked in on us. I didn't want to hurt her, but I knew that I had.
Reed didn't say anything, and I swallowed hard. "Reed, I'm so sorry," I said, "I just—"
"I understand," Reed interrupted, and I frowned. "I can see why you did it, Parker," Reed said, reaching up and placing her hand on my cheek, "You didn't do anything, and I could tell when I opened the door that you weren't into it. I really appreciate that you were honest about it, though."
"Are you mad?" I asked.
"Nope," she whispered, and then she tipped her head up and pressed her lips to mine. I felt a wave of relief wash over me, and I wrapped my arms around Reed's lower torso and pulled her in close to me.
The warning bell rang suddenly, and Reed pulled away from our kiss. "Shit," she muttered, and she ran a hand through her hair and bit her lip, which made her look incredibly sexy, "I can't be late for homeroom again."
"Then shall I escort you, Miss?" I asked, putting on a cheesy British accent and holding my hand out.
"You may," Reed replied with a grin, and she gripped my hand. Together, we walked down the hallway, past other students hurrying to make homeroom. I never went to homeroom, and I'm pretty sure my homeroom teacher didn't even know who I was.
We came to Reed's homeroom, and I sighed. "You know you could just skip, right?"
"Yep," Reed replied, "but I'm not going to." She gave me a quick peck on the cheek and entered her homeroom. I smiled and chuckled to myself, and then I turned and started to wander down the hallway.
As I made my way towards the back of the school, where I tended to hang out during homeroom, or when I was skipping class, I thought back to the time that I realized that I was in love with Reed.

"Why don't you take a break from Sonic, Reed?" I said, grinning in amusement at the focused, intense look in her blue eyes. "The air hockey table is free, and I'm officially challenging you to a game."
The Sonic arcade game made a sad sound as Reed died, and she swore loudly before looking up at me. "Air hockey?" she asked, and I nodded. "Fine," Reed said, glaring at the Sonic game, "I'm done with this rigged game anyways."
I laughed and followed Reed over to the air hockey game. As she took her place at the other end of the air hockey table, I fed the tokens into the slot, and the table suddenly came to life. "Ready?" I asked, and Reed smirked.
"Oh, Parker," she said, leaning towards me, "I'm going to beat your ass!"
I laughed and shook my head. "Oh, it's on!"
I grabbed the thin piece of plastic that served as the puck, and I hit it towards Reed with my mallet. We volleyed back and forth for a few moments when suddenly, the puck had sunk into my goal.
"That's right bitches!" Reed yelled, throwing her hands up in the air and doing a little dance as she cheered. "I am the air hockey master!"
I chuckled to myself and reached down to grab the puck from the return slot. When I looked up at Reed once again, I felt... different. Reed's giant grin and sparkling blue eyes were bright and filled with happiness, and I actually felt my throat tighten.
That's when it hit me.
I'd known Reed for the past couple weeks, and we'd been in a fake relationship that had us spending a lot of time together. Through that time, I'd started to feel different towards Reed. However, now, what I was feeling was screaming out at me, and I couldn't deny it.
I, Parker Hunt, had fallen in love with Reed Hadley.
What the hell was I going to do?

"Be really quiet."
Reed gave me a serious look, and I nodded while suppressing laughter. Then, she turned her key in the lock on her front door and opened it slowly and silently. Apparently, Reed's mom was working from home today, and it was quite obvious that she didn't like me. Reed wanted us to be quiet because she really didn't want her mom to say something snotty to me.
I could actually understand where Reed's mom was coming from. I mean, if I thought about it, I would hate if my only daughter was dating a guy who wore leather jackets and drove a motorcycle. I wasn't exactly a role model young man.
"Reed? Is that you?"
"Fuck," Reed muttered, and a second later, Reed's mom emerged from her office. Her cheery expression quickly fell from her face when she caught sight of me standing behind her daughter.
"Parker," Reed's mom said disdainfully, "I didn't know you were coming over."
"He's here pretty much every day after school, Mom," Reed replied, reaching back and taking my hand.
"Unfortunately," Reed's mom stated, and then she turned on her heel and flounced back into her office. Reed ran a hand through her hair and sighed, and then she turned to look back at me.
"I'm really sorry about her," Reed said, "I'm getting tired of apologizing on her behalf, but I don't think that her attitude is going to change much."
Before I started to really accept my feelings for Reed and care about her, I didn't feel all that offended when Reed's mom was rude to me. However, I was in an actual relationship with her daughter, and I felt like I needed to say that I was serious about Reed.
"You know what?" I said, taking a step towards Reed's mom's office, "I'll be right back."
"Where are you going?" Reed asked, frowning at me.
"I'm going to talk to your mom," I replied, and Reed's eyes widened.
"Are you crazy?" she hissed, throwing her hands in the air, "She hates you!"
"I know that," I said, "but I care about you, and I want your mom to know that. Maybe, if I tell her that I'm serious about us, your mom will chill out a little."
"I wouldn't count on it," Reed warned, and I shrugged.
"I'll meet you in your room, okay?" I asked, and after a moment, Reed nodded reluctantly.
"I don't like this," she said as she started up the stairs.
"I can tell, Babe," I replied, and then before Reed could try and discourage me further, I turned my back to her and walked over to Reed's mom's office. After a couple seconds of hesitation, I knocked on the door and waited until Reed's mom called for me to enter.
"Mrs. Hadley, can I talk to you?" I asked, and Reed's mom, who'd been standing with her back to me, groaned audibly before turning to face me.
"What do you want, Parker?" Reed's mom asked, crossing her arms over her chest as she narrowed her eyes at me.
"Look," I said, shoving my hands into my pockets, "I know that you don't like me, and I know that you really don't like the fact that I'm dating Reed."
"That is one hundred percent accurate," Reed's mom confirmed, and I did my best not to roll my eyes.
"Right," I continued, taking a deep breath, "but, I just wanted you to know that I'm totally committed to your daughter. Reed is the first girl I've ever fallen in love with, and I don't ever want to hurt her."
My words were genuine and I really hoped that Reed's mom could see that.
After an awkward, slightly too-long silence had passed, Reed's mom pursed her lips. "Parker," she said, letting out a long sigh, "I believe what you're saying. It might take me a while to get used to you dating my daughter, and I may not completely like it, but I can tell she loves you back. What kind of mother would I be if I ruined her happiness?"
"Thank you," I replied quickly, exhaling in relief. I couldn't actually believe that my words had worked, seeing as Reed's mom just seemed incredibly stubborn.
"Just know, Parker," Reed's mom said, a serious expression overtaking her features, "if you hurt my daughter, I will find you and cut off your balls."
"Understood, Mrs. Hadley," I said. Reed's mom gave me one last meaningful look, and then she turned away from me once again. I recognized that I was being dismissed, and I hurried from the office.
With a triumphant grin on my face, I headed up the stairs and down the hall to Reed's bedroom. I found her standing in front of her desk, having changed into a pair of sweatpants. She was holding Benedict up in one hand, and when she sensed me entering the room, Reed looked up and smiled at me.
"As cheesy as it sounds," she said, nodding towards Benedict, "Without this egg, we probably would never have gotten together, let alone talked."
"You're right," I replied with a grin, "that is cheesy." Reed laughed and rolled her eyes, and she put Benedict down on her desk. All joking aside, though, Reed was right; without Benedict, I probably wouldn't be with her.
We'd had our final presentation in health today, where Reed and I talked about our experience having an egg baby together. Reed and I had done a pretty good job, and after class, Mrs. Matthews had stopped me to tell me I had gotten an 'A'. that meant I would pass health and graduate on time. To say I was excited would be an understatement, and I wouldn't have been able to do it without Reed.
"Well?" Reed asked, pulling me from my thoughts, "What did my mom say?"
"She still doesn't like me," I said, crossing the carpet and climbing onto Reed's bed.
"Is that it?" Reed asked, and she came and perched on the end of her bed.
"Nope," I replied, lying back, "She told me that she was going to work towards accepting our relationship."
"Really?" Reed breathed, and I nodded.
"Oh, and she also told me that she'd cut my dick off if I hurt you," I added, and Reed burst out laughing.
"That sounds like my mom," she said as she lay down next to me. I wrapped my arm around her shoulder and Reed snuggled in close to my side. We lay there for a while in comfortable silence, and we just enjoyed the feeling of being near each other.
"Hey Reed?"
"Hmm?"
"I love you."
"I love you, too."
