REVISION COMPARISON
So, there was this assignment for creative writing class where I had to write a piece based on a song, and of course, I decided to turn it into a low-key Crew (RageGaming, GenerationHollow, CaptainFluke, etc.) fanfiction. I also based it off of the song I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy and All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me by Fall Out Boy. (However, the first draft was originally based off of Ignorance by Paramore. I changed it by the second revision.)
I thought it would be fun to post the first version I had of it and the final revision I had just to compare the two!
Note: Aiden is based on Aaron (Hollow) and Jacob is based off of Josh (Rage). I use their names a lot so I changed them to avoid suspicion that it was fanfiction.
Note for Twitter people: Yep, this is the unintentionally Rollow-fueling piece.
(The first draft was based off of an AU I'm working on, but that didn't stand on it's own so I changed the main topic)

FIRST VERSION
I Won't Will Grow Up (A/N: the "Won't" in the title is supposed to be crossed out)
"Aiden!"
Aiden woke with a start. He knew that voice. He hadn't heard it in about two years, but he knew it nonetheless.
There he was, hands clasped on to the windowsill for dear life.
"Wha-Jacob?" Aiden asked, getting up. "What are you-no, how did you get here? I know your dad isn't here for a meeting."
"Ran." Jacob said.
"From three kingdoms over?"
"For God's sake, can you please help me up before I fall to my death?"
Aiden went over to the window, grabbing his friend's hand and pulling him into the room.
Well, he assumed it was still right to call Jacob a friend, even if he wasn't fully sure if that's what they were anymore. He found it strange, in a way. If someone had asked Aiden who his best friend was at age seven, he would have said Jacob with zero hesitation.
But now? He wouldn't know what to say.
"How'd you even get up here?"
Jacob grinned a little, the same mischievous grin that Aiden had come to understand meant he did something very bad, very stupid, very childish, or sometimes, all three.
"Never underestimate the power of ninja skills, Aiden."
Aiden resisted the urge to roll his eyes. "Okay, whatever."
Jacob's grin faltered. "You never respect the ninja skills anymore."
"Because I, unlike you, grew up. Now, can you please explain what you're doing running here from three kingdoms over in the middle of the night?"
"It's my dad, Aiden. And before you say anything," He said, seeing Aiden opening his mouth to say something, "It's not one of my 'childish rebellion attempts', as you call them. It's really bad."
Aiden could tell by the look on Jacob's face. Jacob never got serious, never. Hell, he barely knew the definition of serious. If Jacob was this freaked out by something, it had to be bad. "What happened?"
"You know that door he never let either of us go through?"
Of course Aiden knew that door. Jacob had been trying to get through it since they were five, but the door itself was heavily guarded. Aiden had used to help, but he didn't anymore. "Don't tell me you managed to get through."
"Not managed to. I got permission."
"Permission? You're joking."
"Nope. Something along of the lines of how I'm seventeen, soon to take his place as king, blah, blah, blah. I didn't pay much attention."
"Do you ever?" Aiden muttered.
"But anyways," Jacob continued, not hearing Aiden, "It's not good down there. He's attempting to learn more about our enemies, but not in a good way. There's criminals down there, and he's...torturing them."
"I'm not following you here."
"What do you mean?"
"How is that bad?"
"How is that bad?" Jacob asked, staring at him. "It's torture! That's considered pretty bad in most places!"
"Jacob, calm down. If I had known that's what you were talking about, then I could've told you there's nothing to worry about from the beginning."
"It's wrong, Aiden, it shouldn't be happening!"
"Jacob, quit it. You're being selfish. They're criminals, if they have information-"
"Wait, wait, wait." Jacob said. "Are you trying to turn this around on me?"
"No, I'm just saying, getting information on your enemies is a good thing. It helps your kingdom. You're being selfish. It's going to help protect people."
"Great. So you're judging me again. Where's your gavel, huh? How about your jury?"
"Jacob-"
"If you're going to judge me, would you mind sentencing me to another life? Because I sure don't want this one."
"Jacob, really? Stop it. You're being-"
"-Childish?" Jacob interrupted. "See, this is what I've wondered about. What happened to you, Aiden? You used to be just like me. We used to stick together. What happened?"
"I grew up." Aiden said, crossing his arms.
"That's what I mean. You promised me that you'd never grow up. I promised you that I wouldn't either."
"For Christ's sake, Jacob." Aiden said. "We're both going be kings. We have to grow up for the good of everybody else."
"You're just saying that because it's what your dad wants." Jacob said. "You've always been the good little soldier."
"And what have you done, Jacob? Got into trouble so many times your dad stopped bringing you over here?"
"At least I have a mind of my own." Jacob said. "Not one that's been molded so much you're no fun anymore. I know we're still the same, you just let someone else make all your decisions for you."
"We're not the same. Not anymore. You just can't accept that change is good."
"As far as I'm concerned, change that turns you from my best friend into a world-class jerk isn't anything good."
"Oh, no. Those stupid guilt trip tricks of yours, they used to fool me, I'll admit it, but they're not going to get you anywhere now." Aiden said. "I'm not the same little kid from your memory, and you're not a little kid anymore, either."
"You know what? Fine. If I'm such a bad person for being against this, and you don't like me," Jacob said. "Then I guess I'll just make my own way."
"What are you talking about?"
"As if you really care."
"What, are you going to run away?"
Silence.
"Jacob, you're not serious. You made a promise to protect people as a ki-"
"You may have, but I never did." Jacob said, turning to leave through the window again.
"Jacob-"
"What, you're going to be my friend now because I'm going to leave?"
"That is not what I was going to do."
"Well, since the real Aiden's apparently nowhere around, it's been nice to meet you, sir. I guess I'll go now."
Aiden didn't say anything.
Jacob paused by the window. "Aren't you going to try and stop me?"
"No. I'm not going to be there to catch you. You just make trouble everywhere you go, I don't care anymore. " Aiden said, glaring at him. "I just hope you finally learn to grow up out there on your own."
Jacob looked shocked. It wasn't like Aiden to be like this. He may have been annoyed with Jacob before, but he had always been there in the end.
He really had changed. He really wasn't the Aiden who had been Jacob's friend anymore.
Jacob's expression went from shocked to angry."And I hope your kingdom burns to the ground."
Aiden did nothing but watch as his Jacob disappeared out the window, taking seventeen years of friendship with him.

FINAL REVISION
I Won't Will Grow Up (A/N: same thing applies as last time)
"Aiden!"
Aiden woke with a start. He knew that voice. He hadn't heard it in a two months, due to the fact that the last time he heard it, it had ended off in yet another one of their countless fights, but he knew it nonetheless.
There he was, half of him in the room and the other half out of it, with the window attempting to close on top of him.
"Wha-Jacob? What are you-"
"Window closed on me." Jacob muttered. "Help?"
Aiden stifled a laugh at Jacob, who was flailing his arms around in a bad attempt to escape, and went over to the window, sliding the window open, allowing his friend in.
"What are you doing here?" Aiden asked.
"Callum and Evan's windows are on the second floor, and they aren't answering their phones. You're my last resort." He replied, and Aiden couldn't help but think, "well gee, thanks."
"How'd you even get the window open?"
Jacob grinned a little, the same mischievous grin that Aiden had come to understand meant he did something very bad, very stupid, or very childish.
"Never underestimate the power of ninja skills, Aiden."
Aiden resisted the urge to roll his eyes. "Okay, whatever."
Jacob's grin faltered. "You never respect the ninja skills anymore."
"Because I, unlike you, grew up. Now, can you please explain what you're doing at my house at 3 in the morning?"
"You know his computer?"
"Don't tell me you stole it or something."
"Not stole. I got permission to use it."
"Permission? You're joking." Aiden knew from years of going to Jacob's house that Jacob's dad was very hesitant to let Jacob onto his computer.
"Nope. I asked to use it to look up school stuff, because my computer's busted from that weird virus I got."
"You mean the one off of the porn site I told you and Callum was a bad idea to go on?"
"Shut up. Anyways," Jacob continued. "I was actually looking through his work files to see if he had one on how to build a bomb, 'cause Evan and I were planning to set one off."
"I don't think they even deal with bombs in the CIA."
"Well, if they do, I want one."
"You with a bomb sounds terrifying."
"What? We were only going to set it off in his backyard."
"And that's exactly why no one is going to trust you with a bomb, ever."
"Well sorry my conscience calls in sick a lot." He grinned, and Aiden resisted the temptation to punch him.
The grin on Jacob's face disappeared when Aiden didn't laugh, and he continued with his story. "So as I was saying, I didn't find any files on bombs, but I found one that talked about how new tactics were awaiting approval, and there was a concept video, and...these two people were torturing someone else. I don't know who it was, but it didn't look good at all."
"What do you mean?"
"How is that bad?"
"How is that bad?" Jacob asked, staring at him. "It's torture! That's considered pretty bad in most places!"
"Jacob, calm down. If I had known that's what you were talking about, then I could've told you there's nothing to worry about from the beginning. You probably just saw files on interrogation tactics."
"How would you know that?"
"We learned about it in history the other day, remember?"
"History? I slept through History."
"Of course you did."
"The point is, it's wrong, Aiden, it shouldn't be happening!"
"Jacob, quit it. You're overreacting, and it's not like you can do anything about it anyways. They only use interrogations with terrorists and stuff, if they have information-"
"Wait, wait, wait." Jacob said. "Are you trying to turn this around on me?"
"No, I'm just saying, if the guy had information on terrorists and wasn't giving it up any other way, it's not like they had much of a choice."
"Great. So you're cool with torture. Good to know."
"Jacob-"
"Remind me that if I ever have 'information' to just tell you."
"Jacob, really? Stop it. You're being-"
"Let me guess. Annoying." Jacob interrupted. "See, this is what I've wondered about. What happened to you, Aiden? You used to be just like me. We used to stick together. What happened?"
"I grew up." Aiden said, crossing his arms.
"That's what I mean. You promised me that you'd never grow up. I promised you that I wouldn't either. We had found the cure, dude, why'd you abandon it?"
"For Christ's sake, Jacob." Aiden said. "You're fifteen. You can't just act like an eight-year-old your whole life."
"You're just saying that because it's what your dad thinks about me. You're such a good little solider, aren't you?"
"And what have you done, Jacob? Got into trouble so many times your dad barely trusts you to touch his computer?"
"At least I have a mind of my own." Jacob said. "Not one that's been molded so much you're no fun anymore."
"Yes, because wondering what will happen when you light a fuse on a bomb is so much fun."
"You used to think stuff like that would be fun!"
"When I was eight!"
"What's wrong with eight?"
"I don't know, maybe the fact that you're fifteen will give you some sort of hint."
"I didn't ask to grow up!"
"You didn't!"
"Look, alright? This isn't the problem here!"
"Then what is the problem?" Aiden asked.
"My dad...he caught me looking at the files, and completely flipped out. He's yelled at me before, yeah, but I've never seen him like this. He was spouting all this stuff about how I wasn't supposed to see that and how I was going to be in more trouble than I've ever been in my life and how the government's gonna be on me for knowing about secret stuff and...god, man, I'm freaking out. Why do you think I ran here by myself?"
Aiden didn't say anything.
"So I'm making a run for it, and I need someone to go with me. Come on, let's go."
Jacob walked towards the window, but paused when he saw that Aiden wasn't moving. "Aren't you going to come with me?"
"No." Aiden said.
"What do you mean?"
"This is what I'm always talking about, Jacob!" Aiden said. "You are literally a disaster on legs. You make trouble wherever you go, to the point where you've gotten yourself in trouble with the government."
Aiden turned away. "I'm not going to be there to clean up your messes anymore. I'm done. I've been done for a while."
Jacob looked shocked. It wasn't like Aiden to be like this. He may have been annoyed with Jacob before, but he had always been there in the end. He really wasn't the Aiden who had been Jacob's friend.
Aiden did nothing but watch as his Jacob disappeared out the window, taking fifteen years of friendship with him.

And there you have it- a little over the month in the making piece that I hope gets a decent grade. :) Which version's better in your opinion? I'd like to know! :D
