Balloon Necked

I had this dream a few days ago, and despite it being weird as all heck, it intrigued me enough for it to stick in my mind.

The concept was that there were a race of humans that had balloons for heads. As in the string was their neck and the balloon itself served as their heads. Since their appearance was so odd, they were sort of shunned from society. In my dream I was among a small group of those with balloons for heads. This group was getting by but just barely. They had made their money by serving normal people of the upper class. They would mostly cook for the upper class and serve them their meals like waiters and waitresses. In return they were paid and given a place to stay in the basement of the family they were serving. One day the family decided they would invite the balloon people up to the surface with them to join in on a lovely party they were planning on hosting. However, they could only surface on one condition, they hid their strings. To achieve this, they would tuck their string into their coats, tying the end to some part on the inside of their jackets to make it appear that they were just hiding normal necks under high coat collars. I couldn't really tell who it was I was supposed to be, but I believe they referred to me as Alice. I hid among a few other balloon headed kids, and befriended a human kid whose name I cannot remember. I think it was Lucas or something like that but my brain can't remember. Anyways, the party was going well and no one had suspected the balloon headed people were among the guests at the party. However, things quickly shifted into a murder mystery as one of the human guests were killed. There was evidence to suspect a balloon headed person had killed them. This pretty much made everyone panic since they started to realize there were balloon headed people among them. The guests seemed to seperate into groups, each with their own opinions on what happened. I of course teamed up with the few balloon kids and Lucas to try and figure out what was happening. This led to quite a journey. We encountered a man named, and lord knows how my brain conjured this up, Falk. He was the grounds keeper for the family and one of the only balloon headed people to have worked on the surface to begin with. He found another dead body out in the yard, more evidence pointed towards a balloon headed person. We of course suspected Falk, but our suspicions were cleared when someone had lunged at us outside, and Falk quickly shielded us. He had taken a rough blow to the shoulder, but fought back against whoever the attacker was. Once he subdued the attacker, we realized the attacker had been the lady of the house. We confronted her and she admitted to committing the murders, purposely planting evidence at the scene to place the blame on balloon headed people. Apparently despite her husband being very accepting of balloon heads, she despised them. She thought if she could convince her husband balloon headed people were just murderous savages, then he'd finally stop taking it so easy on them. We brought her back to the house and made her confess. Everyone seemed shocked at the news, but relieved at the same time. For whatever reason, they had jumped to the conclusion there never were any balloon headed people at the party, and it had been a ruse. At that point, it was evident everyone who had been hiding their strings were getting angry. They untucked the strings and exposed who they really were. I did so as well, not really knowing why. The balloon kids followed suit. This of course scared the living heck out of the entire room. Falk tried explaining that we were just like them, and a slight appearance change didn't make a difference, but they didn't seem to want to listen. Finally, Lucas stood up for us and pretty much repeated what Falk had said. They had actually listened to him since... Well... Y'know he was a normal human. The guests seemed to slowly open up, or at the very least they didn't seem as scared. We called the police and they picked up the lady of the house. The husband seemed incredibly distraught, but still seemed compassionate. He offered the balloon headed people a better place to stay, everyone including Lucas got excited, and then that was around the time I woke up.

....Told you my dreams were weird. Idk why that one stood out to me. It just did.
