So after finally reading the full WTTM manga that was put out, I figured out a lot about Yurio.

First of all, I'm calling Otabek Oats for the rest of my life.

Tbh Yuri is probably one of the best written introverts I've ever seen.

He doesn't like being around other people but it's kind of part of his job so he's gotta force himself to do it. In the manga he's shown talking Mila, Sara, Michele, and Emil. Yuri really doesn't want to be talking to them. Then again, he just thrown out of the club but he just kinda sits there on the ground not really wanting to look at them.

Once they crack him open to say what happened with Otabek (which was just Yuri wanting to go to a club but Otabek is a responsible person so he doesn't take him) they help him out.

And then you see that Yurio actually has trouble making phone calls to people he isn't used to talking to.

This kid really doesn't talk to a lot of people. In fact, he's legit surprised at getting a congrats for winning. Why would he be though?

Unless, he didn't really care about other people's opinions on his skating and more cared about his own. Which the manga shows actually.

He doesn't like what his original exhibition program was. Wants something of his own. That way he could actually feel good about it. And that's a common trait in introverts. Other opinion kind of mean nothing over their own because they're very inward looking.

Which is why introverts tend to have few friends. Other people are just kind of a nuisance. Yuri's only got Otabek. Oats here, is the only person Yuri counts as a friend.

The entire anime even supports that he's an introvert. I mean, he barely just got a friend in the anime. There tons of times where we see him with a crowd of fans and him pulling of the face of a pissed out toddler. Hell, all he had was his grandpa before the whole thing started.

So it's pretty dang easy to say that this kid is introverted. And it's written well and subtly. The subtlety is very important because introverts aren't ones to give much information about themselves. They're subtle about it.

And being the angst teen that he is, when the small group of other skaters is asking him what's up, Yuri refuses to answer.

Declining any offer of giving a shit about them, they crack him open by kind of annoying him. And then like a panel later, he's screaming.

He really doesn't know how to have friends but he's right. If Otabek was mad-or really gave a shit-about losing, he would probably tell Yuri. Though this kind of shows that Yuri's not very good at reading people-another common trait in extroverts.

Well that's my theory.

Now onto why I named this part "Yurio is really weird"

Yurio is really fucking weird.

Like, why is he so confused as to why Oats won't let him come to a club with him??? He's underage after all and he knows this. Also his reaction is so extra.

Otabek: nah ur too young

Yurio: FFFFFUCK U THEN UR NOT MY FRIEND ANYMORE

Then there's his reaction to Otabek's music which is like way over the top. It's like me when I hear Hamilton come on like chill maybe.

And then he fuckin climbs over Otabek's dj shit. Like, who does that???

This kid needs to chill

So overall I rate the WTTM manga 1047692174/10

And I wanna say something controversial

I'm gonna get serious for a moment alright.

This doesn't support Otayuri at all actually.

People need to understand the difference between romance and friendship. Not to mention character traits. Especially in YOI.

Otabek and Yurio have a friendship. It's fairly similar to Yuuri and Victor's in that Yuri was Otabek's idol basically for years. That's all that's the same though. Otabek and Yuri's friendship is a lot more childish compared to Yuuri and Victor's. Not to mention that it's not as built up. It's only just begun.

Yurio' trying to keep a friend. His only friend. He likes interacting with Otabek. It's more of a "you're my only friend and I'm socially inept so don't leave me" type of thing.

In YOI everything has to develop, that's just good story telling. So like, Otabek and Yuri doing the free skate was just a friendship thing. To mention that their relationship is fucking weird anyway. Like, they both don't know how to socialize right so they don't know what they're doing.

It actually reminds me of my relationship with my brother. I'm like Yurio and he's like Oats.

I just realized that I'm like both of these two weirdos. I'm as over dramatic and extra as Yuri and as standoff-ish and quiet as Oats.
