As if this fucking anime hasn't taken over my life let me feed you some facts about this gay ass anime that you probably knew but hey you never know

1. Yuuri's voice actor actually has stated that he started crying a few times while recording his lines because he could empathize with Yuuri

2. Victor's voice actor has stated that there were quite a few things that were changed in the anime to get pass censorship laws

3. Episode 7 almost didn't even make it pass censors. This is why the kiss is censored btw

4. It actually took about 5 years to make and not because of animation but because it took Mitsurou Kubo a ton of time to develop the idea and look for locations. She went basically all over the world for locations which is why you can find them in real life

5. The romance between Victor and Yuuri wasn't even part of the plot until later in development of the series

6. Victor's design was based off of director John Cameron Mitchell

The similarities are uncanny and now I'm laughing, look at that hair tho people wear wigs to pull it off

7. Yurio was based off of a an actual figure skater, Julia Lipnitskaia. Yeah he was based off a girl because Mitsurou Kubo saw her skate for the first time and thought about what it would've been like if she was a dude

8. Dean Fujioka, the guy who made the opening theme, in an interview said that when he wrote the line "Where your destiny lies, dancing on the blades" he was imagining Jedi dueling

This anime is true art I swear

9. If you think about it, Yuuri's character development is a giant metaphor for coming out. A key point for this is how he starts out unsure and hidden but slowly grew more confident in himself

10. Yuri on Ice has a website and let me tell you, it's actually a ridiculous website my god

11. Yuuri's voice actor actually is very interested in ice skating

12. There ended up being almost 300 pages of story boards that Mitsurou Kubo wrote

13. Yuuri is 173 cm which for us Americans is 5'6 which actually only makes him about 3 inches shorter than Victor
Boy does the animation exaggerate those three inches

14. If you look on the official website, Victor's blood type is private which is kind of weird though he's not the only one with that, Otabek, Georgi, and Christophe also have theirs as private

15. Junichi Suwabe, Victor's voice actor, commonly plays as characters like Victor with silver hair and all that but I don't know the voice just fits with that

16. Yurio owns two cats

17. Victor has custom skates where the blades are gold and the Russian flag on the heels

21. Yeah South Park legit and subtly referenced Yuri on Ice

22. Georgi's voice actor is actually the guy who sings the ending theme You Only Live Once

23. Seung-gil has an extreme aversion to women and vegetables

24. Mitsurou Kubo has done other shows too and only one of them doesn't have exclamation points in the title

25. All the characters are actually talking to each other in English
