The knight

(I don't know what name to give this )
The knight was out on his patrol,
when he glimpsed scales as dark as coal.
Curiosity filled him,
As he wore a diamond necklace on its limb.

The knight, daring and brave,
rode his trusty steed to it's cave.
A princess stood at the corner,
Pressed against the cave wall
He unsheathed his sword and called,
"Fear not, young maiden,
I will slay the dragon!"
The princess shrieked in fear,
As the dragon flew near.
The dragon was hesitant,
The terror in its and her eyes are evident,
The knight plunged his sword in his chest with an arrogant grin,
"No one can beat me, I always win!"

The princess sobbed as she was carried off to the Palace,
he believed its because she was relieved.
Little did he know, her screams of fright are not for the knight
But for the dragon with scales dark as night.

She snuck off to the dragon's lair,
Cradling it's head in despair,
the pain was too much for her to bear.
It's covered with dirt and mud
The wound from its chest oozing blood
Gently wiping off the grime,
she hugged her friend for the last time
