Carter is a pretty laid back person. However, he doesn't even know why, but these days he can't seem to concentrate no matter what he does. Being unable to focus on literally anything he does is really frustrating. Noah jokingly told him to drink wine and get drunk when he voiced his concern to his friend, so he dismissed his words with a scoff.

Tapping his feet impatiently, he waited for Brooke to open her window. Why is he there? Well, he decided that talking to a person with at least a brain cell may help him in some way, and hey, hanging out with Brooke is quite pleasurable. He liked how she is always willing to listen, how they appreciate each other's presence in comfortable silence.

"Wha- Carter? What are you doing here, did something happen?" Her eyes widened with worry, which Carter found funny. He smirked.

"I knew you stole my hoodie! You could just call me if you enjoy my presence this much you know."

"I didn't steal it!" She defended, blushing. Technically it was true, they were doing homework together at that time. Carter lent it to her as she said she was cold since he has never asked about it she assumed he didn't want it back. It was pretty comfy, most importantly it has large pockets! Of course, she would want to keep it.

"I can return it to you if you want it back though." She can't hide the disappointment in her voice. Her pleading puppy eyes have her wrapped around Carter's little finger.

"Just-just keep it, I have lots more at home." She beamed brightly, he wished he could see her smile more, it was so vibrant, it just seemed so genuine with a touch of shyness that completely melted his heart.

"Can we go for a walk?" He questioned, tilting his head.

"Uh, okay." She carefully got out of the window, landing as quiet as she could as to not alert others of her sneaking out.

They walked in silence, and a wave of serenity washed over them. Brooke turned to look at Carter's face, he was deep in thought, his eyes were unfocused, he seemed to be muttering something under his breath every once in a while. She noticed how he scrunch up his nose when he's thinking, in her opinion, it's pretty adorable. They reached a nearby bench and he plopped down, sighing.

"I really need a hug right now." He mumbled.

"What?"

He didn't respond, he leaned back and looked at the sky, his ears bright red. Brooke laughed, sitting even closer. If only he could bottle up her laughter and get drunk on it every night, every hour.

"Come here." She smiled, spreading her arms and wrapping him in her embrace. She burrowed her face into his chest. Carter let out a surprised grunt before he gently hugged her back, tenderly cupping his hand against the back of her head, keeping her there. This is what friends do, right? I'm just being a good friend, that's what I'm doing. These thoughts raced through her head. She heard him let out a long, shaky sigh, his chest rumbled which made her blush a violent shade of red as she sensed his chest vibrating. Upon seeing her flustered state, his face split into a grin.

"Thanks for that." He chuckled softly.

"Anytime." She turned away, feeling her face heat up.

"Feel better now?"

"Plenty."He heaved a relieved sigh, sometimes, having a hug can solve your problems, even if it's only temporary. They sat there in silence, with her resting her head on his shoulder, enjoying the soft breeze that slipped between their fingertips, the rustling of leaves that are dancing in the air, the dripping sound of water left on the trees from the recent rain.
