Chapter 21: Marriage
Levi's POV
On the last night, we had to have one last dinner before leaving the next morning to the airport. Levi wanted me to wear something fancy for this one night, so we went shopping. I wore a dress because that seemed to be the fanciest at the time- and it's quicker to find a dress than finding dress pants and a dress shirt.
Sometimes, I'll catch glances of Levi wearing a tuxedo, but this is the first time I've ever seen him this fancy. For some reason, I feel like this wouldn't be the last time I would see him in that tuxedo.
"Just this one night, I want you to join me." Those were his words to me when we were picking out my dress for the evening.

"So this is where you sneak off to," I whispered under my breath as I walked into the grand hall of the hotel. Many men were standing holding glasses of alcohol, and that was the majority of the people in this room.
I felt Levi's arm snaking around my waist as he pulled me close. "Hey, let's go eat, okay? There's hardly anyone our ages to talk to. Unless you want to talk to old men..."
"Eating now sounds fun. Ooh, maybe there are chocolate strawberries for me to feast upon." I smile as we both walked over to the table.
Of course, there were chocolate strawberries. But before I could take just one, Levi wanted me to kiss him on the lips. As our noses touched after our kiss, I saw a short girl walking up to us. Quickly, I gripped Levi's hand, receiving a bad feeling in my gut. Levi turns around, sighing as if he knew this girl.
"Penny, what do you want?"
"I thought I saw you here. Who's the girl?" Penny points to me as Levi continued to hold my waist with his arm.
"This is my girlfriend, Hanji. Hanji, meet Penny. She's-."
"Supposedly his future wife." She scoffs. Future wife? Levi, are you seeing something else? No, that's not right... Levi doesn't seem like the kind of guy to have multiple girlfriends at a time. If his family business is this expensive and so many rich people wandering around here, I would say that Levi was involved to have an arranged marriage. "I thought you weren't allowed to have any girlfriends because of you being engaged in an arranged marriage."
I knew it.
Levi sighs, shaking his head. "I don't want that. And why did you bring that up?"
"Why? Because I was told I'll marry into the family-."
"Those people are wrong. Even if I did want to marry someone, I would rather it be with Hanji." The second he called my name, his grip around my waist tightened and I nearly tripped on my feet from the sudden movement. "But then again, we're still in high school. Why should we discuss marriage?"
"You're about to enter your last year of high school, so you need to plan."
"I don't plan on getting married the second I graduate from high school." Levi says sternly, "Now will you excuse us, I want to spend time with my girlfriend." Penny scoffs softly, turning around and clicking the ground with her heels as she struts away. "You weren't supposed to hear that, Hanji. I didn't want you to hear that my uncle wanted me to be involved in an arranged marriage."
"You family secret must be important for you to be in an arranged marriage."
"You didn't look up my family name, right?"
My shoulders shrugged, knowing that I had the urge to do so. I remember coming home from school, having the laptop opened to the blank search bar. I would type Levi's first and last name into the bar, watching the search button. I wanted to hear that satisfying sound of the mouse click when the answers were revealed to me. But I'm loyal to Levi... I made a promise to him. A promise I intend on keeping.
"I wanted to, but no, I didn't look it up. Is your name so famous that it could be found on the internet? Whoa, are you an actor?"
Levi chuckles softly, shaking his head as he quickly picks a strawberry and dips it into the chocolate fountain. "Does it look like I'm an actor?"
"You could. You could be a villain actor or an actor that's a hero with a mask on. Are you secreting saving the world, Levi?"
"I wish." He chuckles, biting into the chocolate. "Ow..."
"You dummy." I chuckle, kissing his cheek. "You're not supposed to eat it immediately after you dip it into chocolate. You need for it to cool down just a bit."
Levi nods his head as I dragged him to the table of entrees. "Hanji," he calls to me, looking away from me with those beautiful gray eyes, "do you hate me?"
"E-Excuse me?"
"Do you hate me? For being involved in an arranged marriage? I hear that it's wrong... I hear that when someone is involved in that sort of thing, people hate them. Sometimes I hear the complete opposite. Do you hate me being in an arranged marriage?"
I shook my head, smiling at him. "No," I reply, "I don't hate you. What you said to that girl about how if you were going to marry anyone, it would be me. That's the sweetest thing I heard. You would defy an arranged marriage with her just because you love me. You're willing to do something for me. I don't hate you for that. And if you have to go through with that marriage, I'll marry you."
"By the time I graduate, you're still going to be in high school. Isn't that illegal for me to marry someone that's still in school?"
"Age of consent here is 16, Levi. I know it applies to a lot of things, but I hope that it also applies to marriage. I would love to marry you, Levi." That seemed to have brought a smile to his face. A true smile. Not a pity smile. A smile that showed his true face... his fragile heart... of course, I would marry him. Who would be stupid to not marry him?
