I  stumbled through the huge metal doors which led me to my next five years of hell , the floor squeaked as i crept along it trying not to be squished by the immense six formers who darted past me laughing and joking. The walls were lined with displays of work and art created by pupils at the school , one caught my eye , it was the school council display and at the top sat in honor was my brother. He was head boy and had always been the smart ass in our family . whilst i came home with grades that where mediocre my brother was always the smartest. although he was four years older than me i would be compared to him.

Looking at my cheap silver watch mum bought me for christmas i noticed i had ten minuets till form tutor. leisurely i waltzed down the busy hallways trying to seem friendly as i  had none of my friends moving up into my school with me. I passed several brown doors before finally finding my locker. i swung open and piled my books that i wouldn't need for the day into them. without noticing i turned on my heel and hit some one in the face. I stuttered as i stared into her beautifully glossy emerald eyes , she brushed part of her amazing ember like hair behind her ear and flashed a set of pearly white teeth at me.

"wow" i muttered

"sorry what was that " my god even her voice was angelic.

"uhh sorry nothing " i smiled looking at the ground helping her pick up her books. silence eroded before i noticed a familiar shade of blue.

"so you like leeds?" i asked picking up the program from the floor.

"are you kidding me their amazing!" she laughed looking up at me for a second before zipping up her bag.

"do you play?" i asked

"yeah actually, my dad runs a team "

"well would you like to-" And the bell rang. she darted up the corridor in a flash and disappeared from sight. Reluctantly I shut my locker and dragged myself towards my form room. An elderly woman sat typing away at the computer whilst several other students sat around their tables laughing and chatting.

"ok class calm down , today as you know the new year sevens have joined us , could we all please give a warm callas welcome to Simon minter, JJ and Brooke ." i looked around and sat between a wimpy looking black boy who i guessed was jj and the girl from earlier.

"Year sevens one at a time please introduce yourselves then from Elle the rest of you can introduce yourselves ahh and yes i am mrs furr. "

Looking around i noticed JJ stood up and was flexing his non existent muscles and brooke,  well she was looking at me. i smiled before looking back up at jj.

"hey guys its yo man jj, my friends call me jide and id tell you my real name but my mum would give me a beating for being bullied , i like chicken and ive got a younger bro but who cares about that gay lord anyways"he sat back down laughing, god his laugh was infectious.

i stood up and felt everyones eyes staring at me , it felt like hundred of people were staring at me trying to dig at my soul and pry at my very existence like i was a scratch and sniff.

"hey guys im simon minter i like leeds football team and i play, im always compared to my older brother . "

i sat down and jj leaned towards me.

"its arsenal all the way mate " he scoffed before leaning back up and laughing to himself

"im brooke thatcher , i like foot ball and sport and pe"  a few girls tutted and moaned as she said this but i was all ears and trying to ignore their bitchy remarks. "leeds till i die " she sat down and the bell rang.

first period , science

"hey simon, " i heard someone yell as i scurried down the hallway. I turned to see brooke running behind me.

"oh hey brooke" i quivered

"hey , umm earlier you was gonna ask me something right" my heart melted each time a sound crept from her beautiful rosy lips.

"yeah do you wanna come to the oakfeild park later ill bring my ball " i breathed in deeply preparing for the worst

"sure when should we meet " she asked my mind span and i was over joyed by the sound of them words

"we can meet under the oak tree near the foot ball pitch " she nodded and i set off for science.

Finally my first day of secondary school was over. I ran down the road and caught the bus just in time. Running through the village I ran into my house.

"MUM IM GOING PARK WITH A FRIEND BYEEE" I called grabbing my ball and about to run out of the door when there stood nick.(my brother)

" oo Simon gonna go see his.girlfriend"he swooned

"no just friends now move" he stood there pulling annoying faces so I shoved him away from me and ran down the street until I got to the park.

"hey Brooke " I called.

She was sitting with her hair brushed over her face and headphones in .

"oh hey Simon" I walked over to her and saw what she was listening to.

"slim shady nice "

" ok we gonna play then ." She laughed as if trying to avoid conversation.

"sure" I lined the ball between my half and hers roughly and ran towards her. She got there before I did and kicked it straight into the goal. Once I retrived the ball I tried to dodge her but she tackled me.

"god your amazing " I panted and brooke grabbed my ball and ran off into the woods.

"catch me!" I followed her until I had no sense of direction. I couldn't see her anymore.

"Brooke ? Help someone?" I continued to walk forwards when she crept behind me.

"ahhhhh!" I screamed

"you scream like a girl " she laughed

"hey come and see this." She grabbed my hand and I climbed into a tree house. It was equipped with football's ,a mini fridge and al sorts of things. Everyday for three years we would meet here. I loved her so much but was too scared to say it I didn't want to ruin our bond.

One Friday morning I walked into form it was quiet ... Too quiet. I looked around to see Brooke sat there in tears.

Miss furr sat there whilst everyone else stared at me and Brooke.

"are you all right brookey bean?" I asked rubbing her shoulder

"its my dad he's got to go to new York for a job and I've got to go with him." I pulled her inclose and stared into the distance ,I couldn't cry my heart was shattering ,it was like the whole world was dead.

"yo si- woah" JJ said as he danced into the room .

"leave off jj ill talk later" I whispered to him still holding her in my arms .

"when are you leaving" I asked her as we walked down the hall together.

"tomorrow I only just found out" my anger boiled inside of me and I clenched my fists .

I breathed deeply and shook with fear.

"we've got to go." I muttered

"what ? Si we've got our mocks today" she looked scared.

I grabbed her hand and ran until we were walking towards the bus station .

"this is amazing si" my adrealin pumped as I texted jj where to meet us he'd also been coming to the den a few times a week and was my closest friend. next to brooke

We ran down the road until we reached the den. i grabbed a can of red bull and drank it in one gulp.

"tonight we will make history. Jide should be here in a few min's so when he does we will get the bus to town and blow as much cash as possible " i stated staring out of the window.

"ok but where do we get the money? and ive got to be in by 8" she seemed uncertain

"my bro ows me some cash from last christmas and im sure i can find a few old rings up in my attic" i smiled

"hERE" JJ was climbing up the tree and i dragged him in.

"so thats what were doing k" we then all jumped out of the tree and headed to mine.

"mum were gonna take that bag of nanas nans stuff to the pawners  k and im taking the money nick owes me"

"allright dont get into anytrouble " that was the cool thing about my mum she always let me do what ever as long as im not in trouble.

A few hours later we had about £400 in cash and were ready to rock the streets.

"where too first my fine fellows" i asked

"movies!" jj squealed

" i think we should go to see chuckies return. " brooke shouted

so we set of to the movies.

i bought three bags of popcorn and a large coke for everyone. we still had about £400 because JJ used his birthday money to pay for it all.

the movie was really scary and half way through i did the casual arm over shoulder yawn system. And brooke leaned in.

THE BROOKE leaned into my hug. behind her i leaned over and fist bumped Jide.

then the film got really romantic weirdly . chuckie came out of his cocoon of a doll and turned up as the ghost of the main characters dead boyfriend they hugged and kissed. i swooned and then two lips touched my cheek .

"did you just?" i asked brooke

"yup" then she turned my face and our lips met. it was nothing rough just perfect our lips moved in sinc. id never kissed anyone before but i knew this was perfect.

We walked out of the movies  as the credits began to roll.

"i dont know what that was but it wasn't chuckie as i know it." jj moaned

"i didnt pay much attention" I laughed

"no kidding" brooke laughed as i slid my hand into hers.

"lets go to the fair." brooke pointed .

when we arrived i bought the two pound tickets and we circled all the rides. before this we rented a polaroid to take photos. I sat in the mint green carrige of the big wheel next to Brooke and jj sat opposite me.

"I love you, " Brooke whispered in my ear

"I've always loved you" I answered. The ride screeched to a stop when we were at the very top and we watched the amber glow of the sun fade as it dissapeared upon the horizon.

"wow" I muttered

"the sunset is beautiful isn't it " she replied.

I turned to her and smiled

"I ment you" then our lips crashed together and I heard jj snap a picture on the polaroid.

We broke apart and he handed us each a picture of us kissing with the purple sky In the background.

After a while we got off and left the fair ground .

"its 7:30 I better go" Brooke said before giving me a final kiss and leaving me with a single peice of paper.

That night jj stayed around mine and I spent the evening crying into my pillow whilst he said comforting words and played on my ps.

"she's gone now Simon" is what I said to myself hundreds of times in my head. I will never forgive myself for letting her get away.

Two years later. I really haven't recovered from Brooke everyone's suffering from my depression. I'm losing friends and my grades are dropping. I for a short period developed alcohol issues and stocked my mums vodka up in the den. But now I'm slowly recovering.

This year has been the best since Brooke left. Last year all I did was mourn her but now this year I've been happier. I've even got a date to prom tonight. Well its not really a date . JJs my date. For the bants . The theme is masquerade so everyone's wearing masks and fancy attire. I've bought a suit and everything in hoping to have a good night.

We arrived late I had a pale blue mask with sequins and jj had a pink one . We waltzed into the hall and I winced as the speakers screeched.

"gonna go get some punch want some." I yelled to jj

"sure "

After we got the punch we danced awkwardly Amongst the crowds of people for hours.

Eventually the dj yelled , shoutout to the adorably short girl who came late three minuets ago looking adorable tonight. Then the lights centered on the girl. She had amber hair and her emerald eyes sparkled through the eye holes of her mask. A stranger would know it was her. I sprang to my feet as the music started again and pushed through the crowds till I saw her again. Her beautiful blue dress with sequins all on the upper half and waistline.

I grabbed her dainty wrists and pulled her to one side.

"Brooke! I thought you was in America?" I pulled her close

"I was but now I'm here with you, my dads on leave for a week and were going back tomorrow but I thought id come and see you."

A thousand years began to play and we danced in the center.

"you now what to do if your called out your out." The dj yelled as the track began to play. My sweat beaded on my forehead as Brooke rested her head in my neck. We swaysed and span. The judges aroached us I was about to sit down when I realised we were the last ones left..

"we have our winners Simon and Brooke." Two judges handed us a crown and tiara and a bunch of flowers.

We danced till the end of the night. All fell silent and we talked on the porch.

"did you ever read the note I gave you?" She asked.

"yes I have it framed ." She smiled and waved good bye before running off into the distance. Jj wrapped an arm around me and we watched the stars twikle.

"best night ever"
