It was a beautiful summer day-
WHAT!? PFFT HELL TO THE NAW
ITS WAS RAINING BOMBS LIKE CATS AND DOGS- (ok imma shut up now and get serious I'm an introvert and I don't know how to joke moving on) it was pretty deadly at this time.
Bombs would be in the neighbouring cities, villages and towns. Although, this little town was still surprisingly safe and well. How, you may ask? Well, it was a simple spell by a certain witch. She casted an invisibility spell. Rumours would go around everywhere, people whispering, like, "what does the witch look like?" "Does it matter?" "She has saved us!" "No, she's trying to kill us herself!"
They had no clue that the witch in the town was a young maiden, a very kind and polite lady, who everyone grew to love. She was a florist. In her garden she had all types of flowers. Hibiscus, daffodils, roses, lavenders, daisies, tulips, you name it, she has it. And this lovely lady's name was non other than Y/n L/n.
Of course, she loved her job more than anything. I mean, she loves her flowers so much, and she wouldn't mind giving a little flower to a little child on the street.
As Y/n had lots of customers, she decided one day to add more decoration to her shop. She went to the garden, which is connected to her house, and collected some lavenders, sunflowers, daffodils, tulips and hibiscus. She added them in each different bouquets. Finally, she put on her green rubber gloves to collect the roses. She collected some yellow, red, pink and white roses.
Her two absolute favourite rose bushes, though, had some very specific flowers, which she fell in love with.
These two bushes, she never had the heart to cut a flower from them. That's why she lets people take pictures or draw them.
One day while she was arranging the roses with some daisies, the shop bell rang as a customer entered. Y/n looked up from her counter and blew a strand of her h/c hair out of her eyes. In front of her stood a man with raven hair. She had a strange feeling about him. Like, magic. But she shook her head. She had a certain spell that kept anyone unless with someone from this town to see it. Her home. Her friends. So how could he..? It didn't matter. She had a customer she had to serve.
"Hello sir, how May I help you?" Y/n asked politely. The Ravenette looked up at her. She could see his facial features. His eyes were the most beautiful shade of blue she's ever seen, his shoulder length Raven hair suited them perfectly. He had emerald green drop-shaped earrings.
"Hello. I was just looking around. I thought this place looked interesting." He smiled at her, making some butterflies do the flips in her stomach. She set aside that feeling and looked back at the bouquet. "Let me know if you like anything." Y/n replied.
Y/n continued making two more rose bouquets. She added to each flower tubes filled with water after cutting each of the stems to a certain degree with a satisfying snip. She pricked her finger with one of the thorns and she found a small band aid. She wrapped it around her finger and continued her work.
"Dear Lady? May I ask a question?" The man asked. Y/n looked up at him and nodded. "Of course! What May I help with?" The man pointed at a certain white rose, the most cleanest and whitest of them all. Y/n nodded her head as she went to get a stepping stool. "Would you like it in a pot with the roots or..?" She asked, hesitating slightly as when she climbed down her back was in his chest. This caused a blush to erupt from her.
"I'll take the entire rose, please." The man smiled. Y/n's blush grew even more. "Of course!" She went behind the register and looked at the price. "That will be seven silver coins, please." Y/n smiled politely. "Here you go." The man smiled, closing his eyes as he gave her the money. "I'd love to come here again, but before I leave I'd like to thank you...?" He trailed off. "Oh, Y/n. Y/n L/n." Y/n smiled.
"Howl Jenkins at your service, my lady." He smiled as he took her hand, placing a gentle kiss.
Soon after, Howl went to this town more and more often, but due to that, the walls of invisibility grew weaker and weaker. And while Y/n and Howl had a lovely time together, both dating and having the time of their lives and realising they're both a witch and a wizard, they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Eventually, Y/n created two rings. "I made these rings with the help of Calcifer. He's a lovely fire demon, you know." Y/n smiled as she explained. Howl smiled. "You're too kind, Y/n."
"These rings can lead us to wherever our hearts desire. When we want to go to your castle, we think of Calcifer, if we want to find each other, then we think of each other." Y/n smiled.
Although their happy ending didn't last long.
The invisibility spell had worn off, the townspeople were split into different groups. They found out that Y/n was a witch, and while the majority respected her and loved her, two or three people hated her. So they did the worst thing that had happened to Howl: they made a bunch of loud sounds which caused the battle ships to surround and even bomb Y/n's town. Many people cried, mothers held onto their children while the husbands and other males helped them escape the town. While Y/n ran out with Howl holding her hand, she realised something. "My ring!" She ran inside her shop. She found it on the counter. Even if her flowers died there in her garden, she could always collect some from Howl's. But her ring. Her ring is what made her always feel connected to Howl.
But when she rushed inside, a bomb landed. "Y/N!" Howl screamed for his love. As the explosion sounded and he had no reply, he rushed inside. Everything was broken and tumbled over and ruined. He looked around till he saw the leaking of a white bow. He removed the huge beam that toppled over her. She was barely breathing. "I love you, Howl Pendragon." She lifted her hand to caress his cheek one last time, before it fell limp on her stomach. Howl screamed and cried for his beloved, but it was too late.
She was dead.
He took her body back to his castle. He was determined to find a way to end the war, even if it meant sacrificing his own life. He and Calcifer had a funeral for Y/n L/n Pendragon, his wife.
The next few years was torture for him. He held onto the ring she made him and the one she wore the day she died. He would miss her everyday.
Now, looking out the door, Howl smiled as he saw Sophie collecting flowers and wearing the ring she gave him. Unlike most girls, Sophie wasn't one of those types who hated the exes or being compared to. She knew Howl loved her differently from his love with Y/n. Instead of never wanting to hear about her, she was always intrigued to hear stories about the first love of Howl's life. His first wife.
While she continued collecting flowers, Howl walked back inside, his elbows on a table while he placed his head in between them.
"It's not your fault, Howl." The young wizard looked up to see Calcifer peaking at him. "You shouldn't blame yourself for something that wasn't your fault. It was this stupid war's fault. Y/n wouldn't want you dwelling on the past, Howl. She'd want you to live your life. To move on as much as possible. Just all you need to remember is that she loves you."
Meanwhile in the flower garden, as Sophie collected the flowers, she looked up to see a young woman with a beautiful smile on her face, a white long-sleeve with a bow on the top part of her dress, while the bottom was a dark blue with floral patterns. She had beautiful h/c hair, which was quite short/long/average. Her eyes were a beautiful shade of e/c.
The woman walked forward. "Sophie, please remind Howl that he's not alone. Remind him that he is loved, and that he shouldn't blame himself for my death." The woman spoke.
"Y-you're Y/n Pendragon! You're the first wife of Howl!" Sophie gasped. Y/n chuckled softly. "Yes, I am. Sophie, Howl will think I'm really gone, but I'm always with him and the entire castle. I'll be there for you when you need me. Just remind him he is never alone. And that he is loved. Please."
Sophie nodded her head and smiled. "Of course I will. You had a magnificent husband." Sophie complimented. "I know, and tell him I do not mind at all that he's in love with someone else, in fact it was time he did move on. Please, Sophie."
Sophie smiled once more, a small tear escaping her eyes. As flower petals flew in the air, the wind made Y/n fade away.
As Sophie got in, she told Calcifer everything. "You should tell Howl."
"I am going to, but I don't know where he is." Sophie smiled bashfully. Calcifer rolled his firey eyes. "He's just out of the bath."
When Sophie explained everything to Howl, he broke down crying. Sophie kept reminding him how he's loved, and that night when everyone went to sleep, Howl could have sworn he felt someone caress his cheek and whisper something in his ear.
"I love you, Howl Pendragon."
"I love you too, Y/n Pendragon."
