School
As we can all tell through our experience in school....it's hell.
But, don't worry your pretty little heads, because I will try my best to give you advice concerning it from my personal experience. (Please note that this may not benefit or work for all of you)
Being a student is a hard thing to be. Tests, homework, extracurricular activities, deciding what career you want, college, teachers, etc. And this is just what school is asking for, it's not including all the drama with other students. So, let's break this up a bit, yeah?
As mentioned before, school is tough. I'm gonna give y'all some tips on how I survived throughout secondary school.
☀️Stay on top of your homework. I know what you may be thinking "ugh, that's what my teachers and parents say", but it is true. Doing your homework and turning them in when they are due will help relieve stress.
☀️Study groups are amazing when it comes to tests. This really helped me out a lot. We were able to ask questions to each other and helped each other out. If we all were stuck on a topic, we talked to the teacher (which the teacher actually liked since they knew we were studying and trying out best).
☀️Studying a few days in advance before the test. You won't be cramming the information and if you are still confused about something, talk with one of your classmates, tutor, teacher, or look it up on the Internet.
☀️ Look for trustworthy and helpful websites when you are lost over your homework. This really helped me out as well. Some of the websites I went to were Khan Academy (real lifesaver), Mathway, and CrashCourse YouTube account (John Green is amazing btw). [If you guys have any other websites that help you out, comment them here so others can try them out!)
☀️Eat your meals! Eat breakfast and lunch guys. This is really important. you need to be healthy in order to concentrate in school. If you weren't able to eat breakfast because you were running late, or you forgot your lunch money or lunch bag, always carry at snack in your school bag. This really helped me out.
☀️ Stress free lunch period. My friend and I always strived to have our lunch stress free. No talk about homework (unless we really needed too) and no drama. We literally just chatted about fandoms and family life and stuff. Depending on your school's lunch policies, eat outside when the weather is great. My friend and I always ate outside. Less people, more relaxing. We always brought our own lunch too since the lunch lines were insane. We even had picnics every Friday (we were known as the Picnic Girls lol)and others would join us, even our principle and teachers at times.
☀️Tutoring. It helps, a lot. I always stayed after school or came early in the morning for tutoring. It was mostly for math, and the one time I was really struggling in Chemistry over stoichiometry. Teachers will know that you guys are trying your best to understand the concepts. For stoichiometry, I still didn't understand how to work it. I stayed for tutoring sessions, my teacher had one on one with me, the student in our class you understood it the a 'T' even helped, but I would always barely fail the assignments and tests. My teacher ended up working with me, correcting the answers I got wrong. She would count them and let me pass with a 70 or 75. Guys, and I will stress this, if your teachers see that you are truly trying your best and asking for helps and you still can't pass, they will work with you. Don't be afraid of them.
☀️Get at least 8 hours of sleep every night. I know this is hard, trust me I know, but it will help you stay awake in class (we have all had that one day when we were beyond tired and fell asleep in at least 1 class).
☀️Take breaks in between your assignments/homework when you get home. I try to make my breaks useful. I tend to take 10-30 minutes breaks depending on how much homework I have. For my breaks, I scroll through my Pinterest, social media accounts, do a face mask (which should be max of 3 times a week), and do a couple of workouts (fail most of the time haha).
☀️Rewrite your notes! Rewriting and/or editing your notes helps you retain the information. Also, make sure to make it neater. When you go back to look at it to study, it will be a lot easier to read.
☀️Take notes during your classes. Yes, even math. you can literally take notes in all of your classes when its lectures, PowerPoints, handouts, etc. It's worth it in the end when it comes down to studying them.
