Internet Quizzes

Bucky takes a seat at his desk and opens up his laptop, sighing and scratching the top of his head.

Steve was busy doing Avenger work, so Bucky was all alone for the afternoon. And since he had nothing else to do, he figured he could take some internet quizzes to pass the time until he could hang out with his best friend.

He opens up Buzzfeed to scroll through a couple quizzes, and lo and behold, finds dozens of Avenger quizzes.

Some tested which Avenger you were, and some tested which Avenger you would end up dating.

Bucky pauses over one of the dating quizzes, nervous of getting judged if someone happened to walk in.

"Just for laughs," he concludes to himself before clicking. He goes through the questions and before he knows it he has his answer.

He would end up dating Captain America. "You two are perfect together - You and the Captain fit together like puzzle pieces. He's the perfect guy for you!" Exclaimed the text beneath Steve's picture.

Bucky leans back and blinks before shaking his head. Surely that didn't mean anything. So he takes another quiz, and gets the same result. Again, and again, no matter how he seems to answer, he always ends up dating Steve, marrying Steve, living with Steve.

Bucky chuckles nervously to himself, running a hand through his hair. "Stupid online quizzes," he mutters to himself before leaning back in his seat.

"Hey Buck?"

The brunette jumps at the sudden sound of Steve's voice as the latter enters the room. "Whatcha looking at?"

"Me? Nothing," Bucky blurts, slamming his laptop closed. He turns to face Steve and smiles nervously, and the blonde raises a questioning eyebrow.

"...Okay. I was wondering if you'd wanna watch a movie with me," Steve suggests, and Bucky was so thankful for the change of topic, he could kiss him. Wait...

"Sounds great, thanks Steve," Bucky pipes up, drowning out his own thoughts. Instead of questioning him, Steve merely shakes his head at his strange behavior and wanders to the living room.

The brunette blows out a quick breath and scrubs his face with his hands. "Don't be an idiot, Buck, you've just got those quizzes stuck in your head," he chastises himself before joining Steve on the couch.

As it was chilly out, Steve was bundled up in a blanket. But he wasn't greedy - no, he left just enough space so Bucky could squeeze in as well. Due to recent things brought to light - as in Bucky's strange attraction to Steve - he finds himself a little embarrassed to be cuddled up to the blonde, before catching himself once more.

Come on, man, you can do this! Go cuddle with your best friend whom you aren't attracted to! Bucky mentally prepares himself before sliding next to Steve, who wraps the blanket around his shoulders, pulling them closer together.

While Bucky has an internal war with himself, Steve selects the movie off of Netflix and settles in, accidentally pressing his hip to Bucky's as he does so.

Brain, make up your mind!!

"I heard this was a real tear jerker," Steve mentions as he gives Bucky a small smile, who returns it and tries not to flush red.

That quiz was total garbage, anyway! I mean, who would want to get married to Steve and have a future together? That's, uh, totally...

"You with me, Buck?" Steve asks, waving a hand in front of his face. Bucky looks at him for a second before nodding, too late to come off as natural.

Okay, okay, calm down. Just... watch the thing, then you can leave.

"Yeah, yeah, sorry," Bucky breathes and Steve smiles before turning his attention to the movie as the first scene starts up.

Bucky steels himself to focus, trying to ignore his thoughts and Steve in general. They make it almost all the way through the movie, so close, until the very last scene.

It was a tear jerking moment, for sure. The protagonist was dying, and their love interest clung to them, sobbing, brushing their hair back, trying to slow the flow of blood.

"Carlos... j-just know that... You were all I wanted for my future, Okay? You - you were - "

"Ssh, darling, you're gonna be alright, I swear to you."

Instead of watching this emotional moment, Bucky finds himself watching Steve, whose eyes were shining with tears. He was so emotional when it came to films. Bucky can't seem to tear his eyes away.

Okay... consider this: You might be gay.

Bucky interrupts his thoughts once more with an obvious, over the top yawn when the movie ends while Steve rubs his eyes. "That was a good movie, Stevie, nice choice."

Bucky starts to get up but Steve stops him. "Alright, what's up?"

Bucky stares at him blankly. "Wrong?" He says meekly and Steve gives him a look. He could see right through his best friend. Bucky looks down and curses quietly, running his hands down his face.

"Well, I uh... I think... I might be, uh..," Bucky says slowly, avoiding eye contact. "Gay?"

Steve looks a little surprised, but eventually nods, looking generally at ease with all of this. Bucky watches his reaction, surprised when he doesn't see any sort of disgust.

He's too nice for that, stupid.

Bucky had to agree as he watches the blonde's calm expression. Steve stretches and gets to his feet.

"Well, I'll love you no matter what," he assures and once again smiles at the brunette. With that, he wanders into his room, leaving Bucky speechless in the living room.

He pours himself a glass of water to try to calm himself, and as he takes a drink Steve pokes his head out too.

"I know what you're going through, Buck. I'm actually bisexual," he hums before disappearing again. Bucky chokes on his water and coughs.

Maybe... Maybe he could figure this out. He'd give it time. Surely this would pass. He couldn't possibly have a crush on Steve Rogers...

Right?
