4 - Tweeted

Steve slid into the room, eyes wide as he stared at the notification on his phone.

Bucky had just accidentally outed them both in a single tweet.

They had both been in the closet for years, secretly together. Neither had wanted to spill - if they had, the media would be all over it, and that was the last thing they needed. They were far too busy to deal with that right now.

"Buck," Steve called as he jogged from room to room in Avengers tower, biting his lip. He cornered him in the kitchen, where the brunet was humming while making himself a sandwich.

"What did you do?" Steve said, handing him his phone. Bucky frowned at him, confused, before glancing at the tweet.

He had made a message, put it on private, and had saved it to his drafts -- or, at least, that was what he had thought. No, instead of only a few close friends seeing his confession to be dating Steve and also demisexual, they whole world had seen it.

The internet was exploding.

Bucky stared for a minute. "S***."

"Great."

Of course, the world exploded. News reporters, journalists, publishers all flocked the newly found out couple. Bucky hated the publicity.

"Why did I ever save that?" he moaned as he fell onto the couch.

Despite Steve appearing on camera stating that it was indeed true, the world was still freaking out. Fanart, stories, posters, essays and everything beyond that were appearing every moment. Steve scrolled through it once to get an idea of what was happening, nodded once, and tossed his phone away from him.

"Any ideas on what to do now?" Bucky turned towards him, hugging a pillow to his chest. Steve sighed as he looked at him.

"Just ignore it, I guess. Stay off of Twitter," he said pointedly, raising an eyebrow at him. Bucky scowled and sat up, pouting.

"So how long will this last?"

Steve sighed. "Already too long." Bucky nodded his agreement and went back to hiding his face against the couch.

On a good note, now everyone else was encouraged to come out after Steve and Bucky had gone public, stating that same-sex relationships were okay. Bucky spoke for demisexuals, a voice otherwise unheard of, and that helped lessen the weight that every young person growing up trying to figure themselves out felt.

Eventually, the world quieted down enough to let Steve and Bucky walk into public without anyone freaking out completely. They still got a few comments, nice or heavy-handed, but that was life.

"Glad I released that tweet now?" Bucky smirked over at Steve as they watched a couple -- two gay girls -- walk away after speaking to them. Steve crossed his arms but smiled and nodded a bit.

"Happy with the results," he added and Bucky smiled.

Woo! Speed writing that isn't very great because no editing but I had a tough day and it's getting late and I had no time but it's okay, folks! :)
