Quiet Appreciation
Steve watches his boyfriend fondly as the latter yells obscenities at Clint and Tony while playing a wholesome game of Mario Kart.
He loved that man with all of his heart.
The game draws to a close and Bucky hisses curses at Tony, who smirks at him in response, amused to be getting a rise out of him. Steve walks over and takes Clint's spot, leaning into Bucky, who instinctively wraps an arm around his waist.
"One more game," Tony speaks, already choosing a new character and car as Clint walks off, probably intent on taking a nap.
Bucky glances at Steve briefly, silently asking if that's okay with him. On Saturdays, the two usually got together to do something. Steve nods for him to go ahead and Bucky smiles. Not a word had been exchanged. Tony stares at them, confused.
"Nope," he sighs, settling on a character, "I will never understand what you two have."
"Probably not," Bucky agrees.
Steve watches quietly, occasionally glancing at Bucky while he plays. He bit his lip a lot, Steve noticed. Not unattractive.
"Babe," Bucky huffs, leaning forward.
"What?" Steve says innocently.
"You make it really hard to focus on anything, y'know," he comments, his eyes flicking from the screen to look at him.
"Oh yeah?" Steve counters, watching the screen. "Why?"
Bucky tries to focus again, biting his lip. "'Cause you're right there."
"Oh, I can move if -- "
"No no no," Bucky interrupts, shaking his head, still concentrating on the game, which he seems to be coming out on top of. "Just that... you're distracting, doll."
Steve smirks a little, watching the game. "Sure."
"Oh my God, shut up!" Tony snaps at them. He got heated over Mario Kart - as they all did. It was a serious game. "Flirt later, you lame old grandpas."
"Rude," Bucky huffs. His character zooms across the finish line and he turns to face Tony, triumphant. "Ha! Thought you could beat me, but oooh no."
Tony sticks his tongue out at him as he drops his remote on the couch. "Whatever. It's a kids game, what do I care?"
Bucky smiles dryly and rolls his eyes, turning his attention to Steve as Tony walks away, leaving them alone.
"So," he speaks, slouching some, "what now?" Steve shrugs, looking up at him. "We could... go for a walk?"
"Nah," Steve responds. Bucky pulls him closer against him and Steve rests his head on his chest.
"We could -- "
"I'm good with this, to be honest," Steve hums, wrapping an arm around his waist. Bucky snorts, shifting a little where he sits. Steve closes his eyes and Bucky pauses, studying him briefly. Steve rarely ever looked that peaceful, and it makes Bucky smile a little.
"God," he mutters to himself, and Steve opens an eye.
"Hmm?"
Bucky shakes his head, leaning down and kissing his forehead. "Nothing, just... appreciating what I've got."
Steve raises an eyebrow as a smile creeps onto his face. "Yeah?"
Bucky smiles and shifts some more, so that he's lying down and Steve is tucked beside him, resting on his chest.
"Well, this is comfortable," he muses in a joking tone.
"Shut up, you love it," Bucky replies, resting a hand on his lower back.
They lie there for what feels like hours, silently admiring one another.
Steve eventually sits up, resting on Bucky's stomach. Bucky pushes himself up with his elbows, tilting his head at him. "Whatcha doing?"
Steve leans forward and kisses him, and Bucky sinks down again. He reaches up and pulls him closer, his fingers tangling through his hair. Steve pulls back so he's barely hovering above him, giving him a teasing smile. Bucky huffs a little at him and sits up, kissing him again.
"You're unbearable," Bucky mutters against him, and Steve gives a half smile.
"Mm, that's a shame," he hums as he pulls back again, slightly. Bucky shakes his head, smirking.
"And a tease," he adds as he once again closes the gap. He kisses him slowly, making Steve catch his breath. He hums as he pulls his hair lightly. Steve bites his lip and Bucky smirks a little, kissing him deeper.
Natasha strolls in like nothing is happening, looking for her dagger. She was training Bruce how to use one, and she knew it was hidden somewhere in the games room. She glances at the boys briefly and quirks an eyebrow.
"You boys seen my dagger anywhere?" Grumbling, Bucky pulls back, looking annoyed. "Oh, I'm sorry, did I interrupt something?"
"Under the coffee table," he sighs. Steve steals a quick kiss before getting to his feet, stretching his back. Bucky continues to pout at Natasha as she locates her knife.
"Thanks, you two. Go back to whatever you were doing."
"Too late," Steve sighs as he looks at Bucky. "Wanna go somewhere?"
Bucky stands up too, putting his hands on his hips. "Yeah, sure."

They head to a coffee shop together - they hadn't been in forever.
"I'm glad we can actually do this. Relax for a bit," Steve comments as they walk up to the shop. Bucky nods in agreement, fixing his jacket.
"Everything is always so hectic," he muses as he pulls the door open.
They wait in line for what feels like forever. Bucky holds his place while Steve heads to the bathroom.
They reach the front and instead of continuing to wait, Bucky simply orders for both him and Steve. Of course he had Steve's order memorized, along with his own.
Steve comes back and sees Bucky sitting at a window seat. He pauses for a second, his cheeks warming up. He really, really did love him. Smiling to himself, he walks over and sits across from him, taking his drink.
"Don't think I didn't see you there, starin' at me." Bucky smiles.
"You're just so handsome." Steve smiles as Bucky sputters on his drink. "And you sure can talk smooth, but anything beyond that? Nope."
"I'm conflicted, you complimented and insulted me," Bucky whines, his face red. Steve smiles softly.
He takes a sip of his drink as he stares out the window at the traffic puttering by. Bucky takes out his phone and pretends to be on it, but all the while he tries to take a sneaky photo.
His shutter clicks and the sound makes Steve turn his head, raising an eyebrow. "Trying to sneak a shot, huh?"
Bucky takes a breath and puts his phone down. "In my defense, you looked particularly attractive and I'm allowed to admire that."
"Fair." Steve blushes down at his drink, concentrating on that. Bucky drinks his drink, but he was too distracted to really focus on what he's doing.
They make small talk over their drinks before heading out again, thinking of something else to do.
Steve leads them to the park and Bucky flops down beneath a tree. Steve puts his hands on his hips.
"What are you doing?"
"Sitting," Bucky replies, as if it's a question.
"That's boring though."
Bucky shrugs. "What would you rather do?"
Steve grins at him. "Race you?"
Bucky's heart skips a beat as he looks at him and that grin, that stupid grin he always fell for. A smile tugging at his lips, Bucky gets to his feet and rolls his shoulders.
"Alright, punk. Three-two-one go!" he shouts in one breath before taking off like a bullet, leaving Steve to sprint after him.
"No fair!" Steve yells after him, grinning.
Bucky yelps in surprise as he notices Steve right behind him. He tries to run faster but Steve quickly catches up. He grabs him and Bucky yelps again as his feet lift off the ground.
"Steve!"
"Gotcha," Steve hums as he wraps him in a hug. Bucky flicks his hair out of his face indignantly. Steve kisses his nose and Bucky blushes some more, glancing away. "You're so cute."
"Lemme go, Stevie," he whines, pouting at him. Steve sets him down and kisses the top of his head.

They mainly putter around for the rest of the day, relaxed and together. Steve was glad Bucky seemed to be enjoying himself.
"I think this was one of the only actually fun days we've had in a long time," Bucky comments off-handedly.
"Yeah. It's nice." Steve smiles.

Basically that. It was almost too fluffy to handle, really.
