OTP Prompts

So, like the other one, I'm gonna write small one shots of each of these prompts I found.

Bucky had to say, his first kiss with a guy was the best.

He cups his boyfriend's cheeks and kisses him passionately, his heart beating into overdrive. Steve catches his breath and kisses back, running his fingers through his hair.

Bucky pulls back for air before Steve closes the gap again, and Bucky smiles briefly into the kiss. He steps closer and Steve tilts his head a little. Bucky bites his lip and Steve holds him closer.

They break away again, fighting for breath. Steve rests his forehead against Bucky's and closes his eyes. Bucky does the same and swallows, his fingers carding through Steve's short hair.

"Steve -- "

"Mm," Steve hums but doesn't open his eyes, taking a steady breath. Bucky smiles a little to himself.

"You're really good," he sighs and looks at him. Steve does the same, smiling.

"Yeah?" He lifts Bucky's chin a little. "I'm assuming you meant... well, that." He blushes. "You are too."

Bucky smiles and looks down at the floor, face red.

Steve sits up in bed. Bucky was gone, somewhere. Possibly the kitchen. And that just left Steve alone with his thoughts - somewhere he didn't want to be. After sitting in silence for a couple minutes he shakes his head and clears his throat.

He hastily gets dressed and goes to find him.

Bucky stands in the kitchen, half-dressed and brewing coffee. Steve pauses when he sees him, red-faced. He swallows and steps up behind him, wrapping his arms around his waist and pressing his face against Bucky's shoulders, too embarrassed to say anything.

"Morning," he finally says softly. Bucky smiles a little and turns his head, noticing him blush.

"Morning, blushing beauty," he hums and Steve goes redder, hiding his face.

"Stop it," he whines and Bucky aww's. He reaches back and fluffs his hair.

"You're so cute," he speaks, turning around and facing him. Steve presses his face against his chest. Bucky kisses his forehead.

Steve drags himself home after a tiring mission, mentally and physically beat. He wanted to sleep so badly.

He shuffles inside and spots Bucky reading on the couch. Smiling despite himself, Steve sets his shield down and sits beside him. Bucky wordlessly shifts to the side so that Steve can lean against him, which he does. When he stops moving, Bucky bookmarks his page and sets the book down, turning his attention to the blonde.

"Long day?"

Steve's response is muffled. Bucky smiles and wraps an arm around his waist, briefly checking him for injuries. Steve relaxes and closes his eyes, mumbling about how the mission went. Bucky quietly listens, playing with his hair.

Steve finally looks up at him and Bucky meets his gaze. "Get some sleep, okay?" he says before Steve can speak. "You look like you could use it, and I'm not going anywhere."

Steve smiles. "Love you."

Bucky kisses the top of his head. "Love you too."

He picks up his book again, one hand resting on Steve's back and the other holding his book aloft. Steve curls up, hugging Bucky around the middle.

He drifts off and Bucky stays still, letting him sleep.

"So I said to Fury, 'no, you get the magical portal thing', and I got put off duty..."

Bucky nods absently along to Clint's story, his eyes trained on Steve who stands across the room from him. Steve glances over and meets his gaze, smiles, then makes a face. Bucky purses his lips to hold back a smile and he focuses on Clint again, who was staring at him, smirking.

"Wow." He shakes his head. "You are hopeless, Barnes."

"Huh?" Bucky raises an eyebrow. "Hopeless, me? How?"

Clint rolls his eyes and jerks his thumb over to Steve. "Just go see him. You're hopelessly in love, Barnes." He smiles. Bucky opens his mouth, closes it, and shakes his head.

"Nah, I'm - I'm not," he mumbles, meeting Steve's gaze again. Steve smiles at him and Bucky blushes more. "M-maybe a little," he admits and Clint smirks.

"Called it."

"Shut up," Bucky sighs, his face red. He meets Steve's gaze briefly and his smile widens. Maybe he did love Steve, maybe a little.

Steve stops in his tracks, his heart in his throat.

Standing in front of him is Bucky, with his long hair and tired grin. Steve stares at him, eyes wide. Bucky was missing his metal arm, and looked very dirty.

Steve blinks and takes half a step towards him, faltering again. This couldn't be happening, Bucky had been gone for a year, a full year. He couldn't be in front of him now.

"Buck...?" Steve wavers, a lump forming in his throat. He had missed him so much. "Oh my God," he chokes and starts running towards him. Bucky does the same and they meet halfway, slamming into each other. Steve lifts and spins him, holding him close. Bucky wraps his legs around his waist and his arm around his shoulders, pulling back to look at him properly.

"God, I missed you," Bucky chokes, clinging to him, his heart pounding against his ribcage. Steve rests his head on Bucky's, heaving a quivering breath. He kisses his forehead and Bucky smiles up at him, eyes glossy.

"I missed you too." Steve smiles. "And you came back," he adds, a lovestruck grin on his face.

"Of course I did, idiot," Bucky wavers, kissing him. He smiles and tears slip down his face. Steve, tearing up himself, wipes his cheek with his thumb. "Never again, I won't leave you alone for that long again," he croaks and Steve nods.

"Thought I lost you a couple times," he utters and Bucky cups his cheek, barely hanging on to him. "I didn't know if you were coming back."

"I promised 'til the end of the line, yeah? Which means you're stuck with me. I'll always come back to you," he hushes. Steve swallows and kisses him again, holding him close. Bucky slides down and contents himself with hugging him around the middle, his face pressed against his chest, listening to his heart beat. All the tension he had slowly fades away as he relaxes against him.

"I love you so much, Buck," Steve murmurs, and Bucky blushes against his chest. He looks up, a dopey loving grin on his face.

"I love you too," he replies, hugging him closer. He kisses him slowly and Steve's eyes close, melting into it. He kisses back and Bucky closes his eyes, sighing a little. They gently pull away and stay there together, relishing the time they have.

Bucky could say that he was happy. Everybody he knew was dead, sure; his arm was non-existent, sure; he had been tortured and brain-washed, yes, and while he could never forgive or forget any of that, he was starting to be able to recognize happiness - true happiness.

It was whenever he and Nat laughed together. It was late nights with the Avengers, watching lame 80's movies. It was any time spent with Steve.

Bucky lies on Steve's legs, his head in his lap, staring up at the sky. Steve was leaning back on his hands, doing the same thing. They were cloudgazing - a simple past time that they used to do even as kids. That was when Bucky realized that, at that moment, he hadn't previously been happier.

"I think," he speaks up, making Steve look at him, "I think I'm happy with all this."

Steve sits up straighter, watching him. He gives him a true smile, one generally reserved for Bucky only. "Yeah?"

Bucky props his knees up, nodding. He looks up at Steve's face. "I'm not dead, you aren't dead, and we're in the future," he says, spreading his hands out. "Stevie, we survived a war - barely, yeah, but we still did it. And I haven't lost you," he adds, eyes bright. Steve nods along. "After everything, every d*** thing, you're still here."

"And always will be," Steve promises, brushing a strand of Bucky's hair away from his eyes. Bucky smiles and rolls his eyes, sitting up and moving so he's sitting across from him. "'Til the end of the line?"

"'Til the end of the line, pal," Bucky says softly, overwhelmed with joy and love. He sends Steve his signature grin, and Steve smiles back.

Bucky was happy for the time being, and he knew it wouldn't last forever, but that was okay. All he could do was strive for it, choose to be happy over and over again until it became second nature. Life would continue to kick him down, and he understood that. But he could keep trying - for himself, and for Steve.

WARNING: This is the last happy one. Read on with caution.

Aaand sadness, I guess. I am sorry.

Steve hears the shot go off, but it doesn't register. He watches his best friend, his husband, fall to the ground in what seems like slow motion. He sees himself running towards him, but everything seems out of focus.

He kneels next to Bucky, places a hand on his shoulder. His mind refuses to concentrate, and Steve feels deep seated panic set in as he rolls Bucky over.

Bucky grabs his hand and everything snaps back into focus - the sound of explosions, gunshots and battle, and Bucky's ragged breathing.

Steve locates the spot of red blooming in Bucky's chest, right in the middle. He fumbles to cover the wound, his heart dropping as Bucky cries out as he applies pressure.

"S-Steve, go," Bucky gasps, tears blurring his vision. Panic surges through him and he tries to sit up. Steve holds him down. He looked scared. Steve never looked scared. This doesn't make Bucky feel any better.

Steve leans over him as a bomb explodes nearby, willing to use his own body as a human shield.

"You're gonna be all right, okay? Just stay awake for me, can you do that?" Steve tries to keep his tone calm, struggling to remember the first aid lessons he'd learned years ago.

"Steve," Bucky chokes, clutching his sleeve. "You have to go."

"I'm not leaving you," Steve promises, still holding his wound. There was too much blood, and Bucky looked too pale.

"You wouldn't be leaving -- " Bucky gasps as a wave of pain racks his body. He grits his teeth and spits out a few curse words. "Let me go," he croaks when the pain passes and numbness starts to settle in. Anxiety races through Steve's system, making him shake like he's never done before.

"I can't lose you again," Steve cries, tears sliding down his cheeks.

"Steve, baby, listen to me," Bucky pleads, grabbing his hands. "There's no saving everybody. You know that. I -- just go, get out of here, I can't have you die too," he rasps, forcing himself to take a breath, even though his chest doesn't want to cooperate.

Steve sobs, slumping over. "No. Not without you," he chokes. Bucky watches him helplessly, tears running down his face. Steve attempts to save him still, full on crying. "Just let me try."

"Baby, please," Bucky wavers, his vision going dim. "I don't want you to see me die."

"You're - you're gonna be fine," Steve speaks, but it comes out more as a plea. Bucky watches him sadly, blood staining his lips. He could feel it - this really was the end, this time.

"I love you, Steve," Bucky pants and Steve meets his gaze, his eyes glassy. He feels for his pulse and finds a weak one, ignoring the bombs exploding around him.

"I love you too, Bucky," Steve wavers, pulling back to look at him. Bucky's eyes were staring straight up, but they already seemed dull. "Buck?" The pulse fades away to nothing, and Bucky is gone.

"No, no, Buck, c'mon," he chokes, unable to move. Bucky continues to stare sightlessly upwards.

"Where's Cap?" Tony shouts to the others, who were busy taking on other Hydra agents. Getting no response, Tony finishes with his before taking to the skies, beginning his search for the Captain.

Steve is unable to look away from Bucky's body, a part of his brain telling him that this is all a ruse, or a dream. Bucky wasn't dead, not his Bucky. He couldn't be.

The rational part tells him to close Bucky's eyes and get Bucky and himself out of fire, but he can't seem to move.

Anguish rips through him as shock fades back, allowing him to come to his senses, which wasn't good either. His hands were covered in Bucky's blood and he's reminded that, once again, he failed to save Bucky.

"No, no, no," he repeats numbly, willing himself to wake up, because this couldn't be real. He finds himself shakily rising to his feet. Anger that he hadn't touched upon in years was suffocating him. Bucky Barnes was dead. Steve had failed at saving him.

Steve yanks his shield off of his back and races into battle. He doesn't seem to care when a bullet slices through his shoulder. He beats each and every Hydra agent until they're down. Steve doesn't stop until they've stopped, he's panting from exertion, and he has no energy to cry any more. He had been shot in the knee as well, and slowly he make his way back to Bucky, where he falls to his knees, not caring about the raging pain he feels.

And a part of Steve goes numb. He sits next to Bucky, closing his eyes for him. Steve stares off into the distance, shaking, and waits for the others to find him.

Tony lands with a thud in front of him and looks at Bucky, pausing. Steve says nothing, his face still wet with tears.

"Cap'n?"

Steve looks broken, and that mere thought alone terrifies Tony. He helps Steve to his feet and wraps an arm around him, doing the same to Bucky's body on the other side.

Tony drags the two soldiers away from the battlefield and back to civilization.

"Stark?" Steve finally mutters, his voice ragged from yelling. "Bucky, he isn't -- "

"I know," Tony says softly, refusing to make himself look at the body again.

"I couldn't save him." Steve's speech was slightly slurred, and he hadn't looked up. Tony pulls him a little closer, swallowing.

"I know."

They lapse into silence for the rest of the walk back.

So yeah, that got long, sorry about the sad one.
