Happy Holidays

"Okay, everybody, the votes are in," Tony announces, looking around at the group of representatives of the holidays. Bucky leans back against Steve and crosses his arms, watching attentively. He'd gotten Halloween the last four years in a row and was hoping for something new.

"C'mon, Stark, hurry up," Clint says, curling his fingers through Natasha's hair gently.

"Keep your shirt on. Seriously," Tony huffs. "Alright, Christmas is to Thor this year," he begins and the tall, muscular Shakespearean blonde grins. "Easter is to Clint, April Fools to me, Thanksgiving for Bruce, Valentines to Nat for some odd reason, Halloween for Steve and Independence Day for Bucky."

Steve raises an eyebrow and looks down at Bucky, who looked equally confused. Usually, they got the exact opposite. Bucky liked causing mischief and Steve was the most patriotic guy around.

"You sure you read that right?" Bucky checks, looking at Tony, who smirks. Everybody voted for everybody else's.

"We figured you two should expand your horizons," Bruce explains.

"You guys kept all your original ones," Steve points out and Clint shrugs a shoulder.

"Not so, Captain, I was given the duties of Easter last year," Thor chimes in his olden speech.

"Yeah, and we changed your role when you started hiding with the chocolate bunnies just to see the kids' reactions," Nat interjects and Clint smirks a little.

They all head off in their own directions after settling matters.

"Why did I get Halloween?" Steve moans, flopping his face onto Bucky's chest. The brunette kisses his forehead and rubs his back.

"No need to be so whiny, you'll do fine," he says. "But how the h*** am I supposed to handle Independence Day?" He frowns and Steve shrugs his broad shoulders.

"Just love America, support all human rights, and be proud of the country," Steve mumbles into the brunette's shirt.

"Hmm?" Bucky hums, lifting his head up to look him in the eyes. "So be you all the time?" Steve loved America. A lot. Especially the colours.

"Sure, Buck, sure," he replies, sitting up properly. The brunette shifts and sits on his lap. He boops Steve's nose and the blonde twitches his nose. "Why?"

"'Cause," the brunette replies, leaning back and using him as a pillow. Steve wraps an arm around him and kisses the top of his head.

Time flew by and before he knew it Bucky was up for Independence Day.

"How do I look?" He asks Steve, spreading his arms out to show off his clothes. He was wearing pants that looked like the American flag, red and white striped on one side while blue with stars on the other leg. He also wore a red, white and blue scarf, a dark blue velvet suit top, and a low hanging white shirt. To top it all off he had a top hat with a red, white and blue ribbon tied around the rim and a fake founding fathers beard. He looked kind of ridiculous and Steve snorted.

"I'm sorry, it isn't funny. You look very patriotic," Steve tries and Bucky rolls his eyes.

"I have to be patriotic, stupid looking or not," he whines, putting his hands on his hips. Steve smirks.

"You don't look that stupid," he says and Bucky sticks his tongue out.

"Uh huh. Well, I got somewhere to be, baby," Bucky muses, adjusting his hat. Steve hugs him then lifts up the fake beard and kisses him. Bucky kisses back, smiling a little.

"Good luck," Steve says after pulling back, fixing the brunette's scarf. Bucky smiles.

"Of course," he replies before heading off, spreading even more patriotism to America.

Steve was tempted to follow him but knew Bucky wanted to do it on his own. Eventually temptation won out and he headed after him.

He knew he'd be in the middle of it all because frankly that was their job. He found a parade and started looking for his favorite brunette. Once he saw him he smirked and snuck through the crowd. It was unmistakably Bucky; when he laughed he snorted in such a certain way that only he could do it. Plus, those clothes were something only he could manage to concoct.

Steve sneaks up and grabs his waist. Bucky shrieks and whirls around, angry words in his mouth, but when he saw Steve grinning up at him the words died and were replaced with a scowl.

"Steve, I can do this," he whines.

"I know. I just wanted to see you in action, that's all," the blonde responds and Bucky huffs and blows the ribbon of the hat out of his face.

"Just wanted to judge me, more like," Bucky pouts and Steve shakes his head then pauses and tilts his head a little as if considering that.

"Well, not judge, more so... Maybe just to bug you," he says thoughtfully and Bucky swats at his arm.

"You are a bother, you know?" He says, raising an eyebrow, and the blonde nods.

"I know. You love me all the same," he hums. Bucky nods.

"True, true," he agrees. He takes the blonde's hand and worms his way through the crowd to a side area. It was getting dark out and he was going to be lighting off fireworks soon. He looks around briefly before smirking a little, his eyes darting up to meet Steve's.

"I've been looking forward to this part," he says, pulling out matches and kneeling down beside the fireworks. Steve smiles, watching him.

"Ready?" Bucky asks, glancing up at him with a mischievous look, the flame of the match illuminating his features. Steve nods eagerly, this had always been his favorite part. Bucky grins then lights the fireworks before grabbing Steve's hand and dragging him away before they exploded into the air.

"C'mon, I know a perfect place. I went there last year," Steve explains, turning down an alley then climbing up a flight of stairs to the roof of a building. The fireworks exploded in the sky and the people below cheered and clapped. Bucky wraps an arm around the blonde and sighs happily.

"This isn't so hard," he muses, looking up at him. Steve brings him a little closer to him and Bucky wraps his arms around the back of his neck.

"Kinda fun, huh?" Steve replies and Bucky nods. The fireworks lit up their features, brightened their eyes as if they were young, wild boys all over again. Bucky leans his head up slightly and the blonde lifts the beard again then tilts his hat back.

"Now with the fireworks, Stevie?" Bucky muses quietly, a small smile on his face.

"Absolutely. You're the most beautiful thing here anyway, even with those fireworks," Steve replies and the brunette blushes a little before kissing him.

The year continued on and everybody got their holidays down, save for Bruce, Steve and Thor. After Bruce was finished (his was the most comforting one out of them all, they found; Tony's the most aggravating) Steve was up, and nervous.

"C'mon, lemme see already," Bucky complains, flopped out on his stomach, waiting to see Steve's costume.

"Do you have yours on?"

"Duh, Steve. Come on out, lemme see," Bucky repeats. He hears a deep sigh then sees Steve poke his head out. "All of you would be good."

He huffs and steps out and Bucky raises his eyebrows. Steve was dressed as a pirate, the full deal, and Bucky thought he looked pretty darn good. He himself was a vampire; he hadn't even needed to whiten his skin, he was already fairly pale. All he needed was a cape and sharp teeth and lots of hair gel.

"You look good," Steve says and Bucky gets up then fixes his cape.

"Ditto," he says, walking up to Steve and looking him up and down. "Not sure how many people you'll scare, but, y'know-"

"Nat picked it out," he sighs and Bucky nods.

"Well, you make a handsome pirate," Bucky purrs, kissing his cheek. Steve smiles shyly and Bucky smiles back.

Steve was all set to go; he was armed with fake blood, a fake weapon, other supposedly scary things. He was supposed to stay out of sight of people and try to give them a scare, even if it was just a flinch he'd take it.

He heads out early to pick a few hiding spots near public places where he'd attempt a scare. Bucky and the others were going Trick or Treating; they didn't care if they were acting grown up or not. Nat was a black cat, Thor was an angel, Bruce was Frankenstein, Tony was Jason from a horror movie, and Clint was Cupid.

Bucky hung around with them for a while before striking out on his own. An idea came to him, a brilliant idea, and he smirked to himself before sneaking off. He knew Steve's hiding places and he knew where he was hiding right now.

He creeps carefully through the bushes and scrambles up a tree then crawls along a low hanging branch. He sees the blonde below him and smirks; this was going to be glorious. Carefully, so Steve doesn't notice him, he hooks his legs onto the branch by the back of his knees and hangs upside down. He slips an ice cold hand down the gap in Steve's shirt and the blonde shrieks and leaps forward. Bucky bursts out laughing, slapping his hand on his chest, rocking back and forth a little, swinging upside down. Steve looks back at him with a scowl.

"Ah, your face," Bucky laughs, pointing at him. Steve rolls his eyes and pouts.

"You're an *ss," he whines and Bucky chuckles, clutching his middle.

"That was priceless," he breathes, grabbing onto the branch then flipping upside down and landing beside him. "See, you gotta do that to scare people."

"But I'm not a jerk like you," Steve points out.

"Then that makes you a punk," Bucky replies, picking Steve's hat up off the ground and putting it back on his head.

"Uh huh," he muses distractedly as he hears voices coming closer. Bucky ducks down, willing to give the blonde the chance he needed. Steve glances at him and Bucky grins, his pointed teeth on full display, and he give him a thumbs up. Steve smiles back before turning back around. He digs through his bag of scary things and can't find anything helpful. He settles for a bag of fake blood.

Bucky was watching them approach, and got another idea. He was just on fire with ideas. He waits until he sees a bunch of feet walking past, and as Steve decides to let the fake blood pour out onto the pavement in front of them, Bucky grabs one of their ankles and is greeted with a scream. Other girly screams were added when they saw the blood spilling out on the pavement, and soon, they were running off.

"Jumpy things, aren't they?" Bucky muses in a soft voice, looking up at him. Steve smiles and Bucky grins back. He gets up from the ground and dusts himself off, Steve wipes his hands off. Bucky watches him and a smirk grows on his face.

"Hey, captain," he hums and Steve looks at him. Bucky grabs him by the collar of his shirt and pulls him close. "Nice shirt choice," he hums, Steve watches him.

"I know," he responds and Bucky smirks before kissing him. Steve puts his hands on the brunette's hips, kissing back readily.

They scared many people that night, and though Steve never really said it, he was grateful for the help. Bucky just added a little extra something to Halloween. They even got some Trick or Treating done.

"So?" Bucky hums, strolling alongside him down the street.

"So?" Steve echoes as Bucky links their arms together.

"How was your first fright night?" He asks.

"Harder than I would've first thought," Steve admits and the brunette nods a little.

"It gets easier," he assures then Steve nods.

They meet up with the others and Nat looked annoyed, Clint and Thor were laughing, Bruce was smiling and Tony looked pouty.

"Stark scared an old lady thinking she was a kid," Clint explains and Tony folds his arms.

"I can't see through this mask," he defends, Nat smirks and shakes her head. They start walking again, heading towards home, chatting amongst themselves.

"Well, that was fun," Clint comments, and the others nod in agreement.

"C'mon," Bucky says, pulling Steve up to their room to sort out the candy.

"Why did you get so much?" Steve pouts, looking at the brunette's considerably larger pile of candies and chocolates. Bucky smirks and sticks a lollipop into his mouth.

"Because I'm awesome, that's why," he says, sucking on the lollipop.

"Yeah, I'm sure that's the reason why."

"Of course. You think I'm awesome, right, Stevie?" Bucky hums, looking at him. Steve rolls his eyes but nods.

"Of course, Buck," he agrees and Bucky grins. "Still, I bet you used your charm to get all that," he continues, gesturing to the candies, and Bucky shrugs his shoulders.

"Maybe. Would you prefer I used it on you?" He counters with a raise of an eyebrow and Steve shrugs before searching through his own pile of candies for something. Bucky pulls the lollipop from his mouth and taps the blonde's shoulder.

"What?" Steve asks, looking at him.

"C'mere," Bucky replies, so the blonde comes closer. The brunette pulls him into a kiss and the blonde kisses back.

"Grape?" Steve questions after parting and Bucky nods, putting the lollipop back in. There's a knock on their door and Steve pulls it open to see Nat standing there.

"Just wanted to make sure you two are still alive, not choking on candy or anything," she says and Bucky pulls his lollipop from his mouth and looks at her. She smirks a little. "Or making out, I guess."

"Thanks for the concern, 'Tasha," Bucky rolls his eyes, leaning back against his chair. She grabs a handful of chocolate bites then winks at Bucky before walking back out.

"Those were my chocolates," Steve whines.

"Well then, wanna kiss?" Bucky asks, pulling several from his pile. Steve leans in and kisses him suddenly and the brunette was caught off guard. Steve pulls back and Bucky still looked startled.

"Thanks," the blonde hums, and Bucky doesn't know to scowl or smirk so he just pops a chocolate in his mouth.

"No problem, glad I could be of service," he says finally, watching the blonde, who knew what he'd done and was smirking about it. Bucky sighs and leans back in his seat, tilting the legs back until his eyes widen and he's falling backwards.

"Ugh," he groans, on the floor. Steve was trying not to chuckle as he came over and pulled him to his feet.

"Real smooth," Steve snorts as Bucky rubs the back of his head.

"Punk," he pouts, pressing his forehead against Steve's chest.

"Jerk," Steve retorts as he wraps his arms around him. Bucky mumbles something and leans into him. "I still love ya'."

"Love you too, Steve."
