Danger Zone
"Hey, Bucky, you ready?" Steve asks his husband. The brunette raises an eyebrow, glancing over at him as he loads his gun.
"When am I ever not ready, babe?" He says and Steve rolls his eyes, smirking a little. He puts in his earpiece and shines his shield up before attaching it to the clasp on his back, holding it in place. Bucky swings open the door to the warehouse they were hiding in and instantly hears gunfire and shouting in German.
The pair were trying to take down Hydra. Bucky wanted to do it himself, but of course Steve wouldn't leave him to do it all himself. So they became an unstoppable team; they were amusing to watch and worked perfectly together, playing off of the other's strengths and weaknesses.
Bucky takes a deep breath before racing out the door, guns blazing as he shoots down Hydra members. Steve comes next, he whips his shield out forcefully and knocks several to the ground. It boomerangs back to him and Bucky snorts. He never understood the science behind that.
"Bucky!" Steve shouts over gunfire, tossing the brunette the shield. He catches it and ducks behind it as Hydra returns heavy gunfire upon the pair of them. Bucky fires again several times at the agents, all of them falling to the ground with each bullet. Steve watches him for a moment before getting back into the swing of things. Bucky wraps an arm around someone's neck and jerks it to the side, the agent slumps soundlessly to the ground and Steve looks away. He didn't like killing, preferred simply knocking them out. But if he had to... he had to. He catches the shield when Bucky tosses it back to him.
"Hey Steve, watch your a**, will you, I'm too busy to do so myself!" Bucky shouts, ducking what would've been a blow to the face. Steve rolls his eyes, slamming his shield into an agent's face.
"Yes, dear." He replies, twisting around and kicking away the guy that would've been putting a bullet through his head. Bucky loads another gun full of ammo and bashes someone across the back of the head with it before whirling around and shooting another agent between the eyes.

After two hours of non-stop fighting, several curses and a couple injuries, there were no more people running at them.
"Okay, Buck, we gotta move." Steve pants, holding his side. Bucky nods, he comes up and puts his hand on Steve's shoulder and squeezes it.
"Doin' great, Stevie." He praises, leaning up and pressing a light kiss on his cheek. Steve smiles a little.

They were trying to get out of Germany now, they were trapped in a huge army camp basically and needed a way out.
Bucky sneaks around the corner, his gun had a silencer on just in case, to make sure there aren't any guards or anything. He looks back at Steve and motions him forwards, since the coast was clear. He sneaks into the back of the truck and Steve gets in front, he hotwires it (Bucky had taught him how) and starts it. Bucky grabs a rather large gun and checks it for ammo.
"Anything?" Steve asks, eyes on the road ahead of them.
"Not yet." Bucky replies, leaning forwards, hunched over his knees and clutching the gun tightly. He keeps his eyes behind them and narrows his eyes when he sees a small form coming.
"We got something. Get ready, baby." Bucky warns, readying the gun already. He sets up the stand and peers through the eye piece, lining up the shot. The large black car drives up quickly and Bucky opens fire, Steve presses down on the gas and grips the wheel tightly.
They come to a little village and Bucky looks forwards for a brief moment, he curses and looks back.
"Hey, Steve? You see that village, right?" He shouts, raining gunfire upon the car, which was firing right back at them. Steve's eyes flick back to see the car gaining.
"Yep." He shouts back, focusing on the village that was getting closer and closer with each second.
"We're not gonna go through it?" Bucky shouts, preparing for the next bullets to come. Steve looks up, as if praying to God for a better idea.
"Yep." He replies, grip tightening. He steers through the streets quickly, the truck whipping back and forth with each turn of the wheel. He was careful not to hit anyone though.
"Company!" Bucky yells as another car comes speeding up beside them.
"No, I had no idea!" Steve shouts back sarcastically, ducking as a bullet goes whizzing by his head. He turns the car and bumps into the other one, but then turns sharply to the right. Another car pulled up onto their right side and Steve frantically searched for a safe way out as he heard Bucky firing mercilessly upon their enemies. He sees an upcoming hill and shakes his head.
"Got an idea but chances are you won't like it!" He informs Bucky, who had just exploded the car that was behind them with a boom and smoke started rising to the sky.
"Chances are it's our only option so what is it?" Bucky calls back, wiping his brow. Steve swerves again and Bucky falls against the side of the truck.
He climbs into the front to see Steve aiming directly for a hill. His eyes widen a little.
"Oh, crap!" He hisses and Steve smacks his arm.
"That's a naughty word, you owe the Swear Jar five bucks!" Steve informs and Bucky scowls. Steve turns the car so they're going up the hill but on an angle.
"If you kill me because of this you owe me five bucks!" He shouts as they practically zoom across and around. The car on the left tumbles to the bottom and Steve starts directing their vehicle downhill. The car that was on their right, however, came tumbling down after. Bucky's eyes widen and he grabs the shield and covers them up before the car slams into them. Together both cars go tumbling down the hill and end up in a jumbled heap.

Steve slowly comes to, he smells smoke and the tang of blood. He blinks and looks around to figure out where he was. The car was lying on its side with the other car on top of it, bits of the metal falling down through the wreckage. Steve was pinned down by a large chunk of metal and still buckled in. He shifts and grits his teeth as everything protests. He swings his leg around and kicks the metal repeatedly, parts of it come off but the majority was stuck.
He looks around for something to help and his eyes land on Bucky. His heart sinks and he sucks in a breath.
Bucky was unconscious and blood was leaking down his face. His left arm was trapped in between some metal and the right side of his body was covered in car junk.
Steve shifts again and bites his tongue when his body protests again. He shoves the metal off then quickly unbuckles himself with his right arm, and he whines a little. With difficulty, he climbs over the metal and gets to Bucky.
"Bucky, baby, wake up." He whispers urgently, shaking his shoulder. He gets his metal arm free and unbuckles him, he shoves all the metal off.
"C'mon, Buck, you gotta get up." He whispers hoarsly, brushing Bucky's hair away from his face. The brunette shifts a little and his eyes slowly flicker open, he looks at Steve and the blonde sighs in relief.
"Thank God." He breathes out, honestly thankful, glad Bucky was alive.
"Wha' happened?" Bucky murmurs groggily, struggling to sit up. He puts a hand to his head then pulls it back to look at it, to find it shiny with red blood. His hand slides back down into his lap. His head was wounded and his wrist was hurting badly, so he must've sprained it. His sides were all scraped up as well, but his head took the worst of it.
"The other guys crashed into us and we took a tumble. I'm so sorry, Buck." Steve sighs, holding his own right arm close to his body. Bucky shakes his head a little.
"Was a good plan, just not thought through very well, or planned well at all." He shrugs and Steve smiles a little. Bucky watches him quietly, checking him for wounds. Steve's head was all banged up and his leg had several deep scratches, along with his arms, but probably the worst thing was his right arm.
Bucky gently takes Steve's right arm and carefully pulls Steve's sleeve up. The blonde bites his tongue and squeezes his left hand into a fist, the only indication that he was in any pain.
Bucky looks and sighs softly; his arm was pretty badly broken. It was bleeding in some parts, bruised in others, and bent the wrong way at the forearm.
"Okay, Steve, so you broke your arm and I need to reset it." Bucky informs him, glancing up to look at his face. The blonde swallows and nods a little, head pounding. Bucky offers Steve his forearm, the metal one, the squeeze or hang onto with his good arm.
Steve hangs onto it and in one quick moment Bucky breaks it back the proper way. Steve cries out as it's reset and Bucky sighs, doing what he can. The blonde then goes silent as Bucky works, wrapping it up.
"Thanks." Steve sighs, swallowing. Bucky nods a little and rubs his head, forgetting about all the blood he was smearing around. Steve finds some material and wraps Bucky's head.
"Okay, we can worry about the minor ones later but we need to go." Bucky informs. He starts climbing up and grabs onto the top of the window. He swings his legs out and kicks out a chunk of metal that had been resting there, trapping them in. Steve follows behind, grabbing his shield and readying it onto his arm.
"Ready?" Bucky asks, looking at him, and there was angry determination in his eyes. Steve manages a small smirk and nods.
"When am I ever not ready, babe?" He repeats Bucky from earlier and the brunette smirks. He squeezes Steve's shoulder, the good one that is, before they head back into the thicket.
///
"We're almost home, Buck." Steve informs from the front of the truck they'd stolen. Bucky in the back nods wordlessly, arms wrapped around his gun. He yawns widely and Steve faces forwards again, his right arm wrapped close to his body he simply drove with his left.
Several hours later, he pulled in on the side of the road beside Avengers Tower and turned off the engine.
"Should probably repaint that in the morning." Steve sighs, looking at it. The hood of the truck had Hydra's logo on it. Bucky scoffs.
"Like we're keeping this pile of junk?" He snorts, swinging the hood open. Steve sighs again and looks up, shaking his head slightly. Bucky finds a lighter in his pockets and gets a flame going.
"Maybe we should've done this a couple miles back, maybe?" Steve says and Bucky shrugs.
"There aren't any civilians around... we aren't that close to our home, and Tony can pay for it." Bucky states, counting the reasons on his fingers. Steve shakes his head and takes the lighter from his hands.
"Yeah, no. Sorry, pal." Steve muses, pocketing the lighter. Bucky pouts and folds his arms across his chest.
"Fun sucker." He mutters and Steve rolls his eyes dramatically. He enters the tower and Bucky pretends to follow. He pauses outside then turns around. He smirks a little to himself and pulls out his spare lighter. Lighting it, he tosses the whole thing into the oil tank and saunters into the tower, joining Steve in the elevator.
The blonde hears an explosion and several car horns, he sighs deeply and hangs his head. He slowly turns to look at Bucky, who looks back innocently.
"You've got no proof." He says simply and Steve rolls his eyes again, sighing heavily as the elevator takes them to their floor.
Bucky goes into the bathroom and pulls Steve in with him. They still had injuries to treat and care to.
"Sit." He instructs the blonde, shrugging off his jacket and sighing with relief as the cool air hits him. Leather is so hot when you're moving.
Steve takes a seat and the brunette looks him over thoroughly for injuries. He fixes up his head and does a proper wrapping job of his arm. Bucky's next and Steve wraps his head carefully, then the rest of his scrapes and stuff. They shower then head into bed at four in the morning.
Steve sighs as he relaxes in bed, Bucky curls up against him, his head resting on Steve's chest like a pillow. He wraps his arms around him, wincing a little at his wrist, but Steve had taken care of that. Steve kisses his temple and Bucky closes his eyes, sighing contentedly.
"We're gettin' there, baby. We're gettin' there." He murmurs, thinking about Hydra. Steve nods and hugs him loosely with his left arm, rubbing circles on his back gently.
"I'm proud of you, Buck. You're getting rid of them, that's good." Steve says softly, and Bucky smiles. He nods a little and yawns widely.
"Night Steve. Love you." Bucky murmurs, nearly asleep. Steve smiles softly.
"Night Bucky. Love you too." He says softly, brushing his hair gently from his face. Bucky falls asleep quickly and Steve isn't long after him.
