Day 9

Day 9: Week 2 || Slow Burn

Yesterday was an awfully amazing day for Soarin and Dash. It was their first day as friends, and though they still fought, it was one of the best days they've ever had together. Usually, their days were filled with rage and anger, and they could never get along matter what. Yesterday changed all of that. If they hadn't just become friends, they'd definitely refer to each other as best friends.

Dash bounced excitedly as she watched the FaceTime call on her laptop screen load. She wanted to tell her best friends the good news. Actually, good feels like an understatement. The amazing and fantastic news.

Yeah, that's better.

The first person to join the call was Applejack. Her hair was out of its usual low ponytail style, and her head lacked the brown hat that was always on top of it. She was in a blue onesie with lighter blue apples scattered all over it. Winona (her dog) had hopped on top of her lap and made herself comfortable.

"What do you want?" She asks drowsily. Her eyes were half closed and her blonde hair was a mess. She was having trouble staying awake due to it being ten in the morning. Yes, Dash had woken up at ten again.

"Aren't you happy to see me?" Dash smirked upon hearing her best friend's remark.

"It's ten in the morning. I'm tired as hell and I wasn't 'sposed to be awake till noon," Applejack growls, her nails unknowingly digging into her dog's fur. She didn't realize until a whimper was heard from the poor dog. "Shit, I ain't mean to hurt you, Winona."

"Don't you wake up at five in the morning anyway?"

"Yeah, when people actually came to buy stuff from the farm," Applejack replies. "Now I ain't got nun to do 'cause of this damn virus."

"We're gonna be here for the rest of our lives!" A high pitched voice exclaims, startling the two girls. Their attention diverted to the new member of the call. "Hello ladies!" Pinkie greeted, her wide grin took up more than half of her screen.

"Sup," Applejack greets in a low tone.

Three more of their friends joined the call, each one of them with the same groggy look on their face. Without a doubt, Rarity looked the worst. She didn't have her false eyelashes that she wore everyday whether she was leaving her house or not, and her eyelids were bare from the usual blue eyeshadow that covered it.

Rarity just wasn't Rarity if she wasn't glammed up.

Dash winced upon seeing her best friends (besides Pinkie) and their sleepy expressions. Maybe I shouldn't have woken them up so early, she thought. Twelve pm would've been better for all of us.

Her friends began to whine about how early it was, and all for different reasons. Twilight whined about getting her final days of sleeping in before online school started. Rarity just wanted her beauty sleep. Fluttershy had accidentally woken Angel Bunny up, and he wasn't exactly being kind to her. And Pinkie was . . . being Pinkie.

"Darling, what could you possibly want to talk about at ten in the morning?" Rarity groaned.

"Yeah. How come you of all people are wakin' up this early?" Applejack's eyes narrowed at Dash, making her release a nervous laugh.

"Maybe it's something important?" Fluttershy tries reasoning with the others. As always, they didn't hear her.

"I may look energized but it's because I ate ten lollipops and drank five cups of coffee," Pinkie says, her body looking like it was about to explode. Dash cringed at the sight, not knowing how to respond.

Thinking about the reason she had called them, a grin spread across her face. Was it worth waking them all up for? Probably not. But was it worth hearing though?

"Two days ago, Soarin had said some hurtful, yet somewhat truthful things about my personality. I had gotten so upset that I had called Fluttershy's mom to come pick me up so I could spend the night at her house for at least a couple days," Dash explains the first part of the story. She hid the red color her cheeks were turning from thinking about the moment that occurred afterwards. "I had packed all my necessities and was at the front door ready to leave when I heard my name being called. Soarin had rushed up to me before I could even turn the doorknob. He had apologized for everything and begged me to stay. After all that, we watched a TV show together on his bed. Before the show started, I had asked him if he hated me. I didn't expect for him to say no, but when he did, weight was lifted off my shoulders. Turns out we both shared the same feelings for each other and we instantly became friends."

She had a dreamy look in her eyes. A content sigh escaped her lips, leaving her friends dumbfounded by her odd behavior. She wasn't acting like herself at all, and her friends couldn't decide whether they should be worried or happy for her.

"Aight, first of all -" Applejack brings the mic from her headphones up to her lips. "THIS IS WHAT YOU WOKE US UP FOR!!?" She yelled directly into the mic. It blared into the others' ears, rupturing their eardrums. Dash—who wasn't wearing headphones—covered the speakers on her computer.

"Second of all, FRIENDS? SERIOUSLY?" She continued to yell. "Next time, call me when y'all are actually dating. What a waste of my time. Goodnight." It took Dash a while to realize that Applejack was about to leave the call. Before she could stop her, Applejack had already left.

All eyes were on Dash. Most of them were either frustrated or impatient with her already, and after Applejack's outburst, those emotions only increased.

"So, are y'all gonna yell at me too?" Dash deadpans. Applejack had completely killed her mood, especially when she said only to call her if she and Soarin were dating. That was never going to happen, so today was her last time FaceTiming Applejack.

"If Sunset were here, she'd curse you out. You know how she gets in the morning," Twilight says bluntly. She grabs her glasses on her nightstand and slides them onto her face.

"But Sunset's in Equestria, so I'll do it!" Pinkie exclaimed. She inhaled loudly and was about to curse up a storm. The disapproving look on Twilight's face stopped her, forcing her to cover her mouth and sink into her sheets. "Or not . . ."

"Though I am not very pleased that you woke me up at ten in the morning, I understand you were excited to tell us something important to you. Also, I am glad that you and Soarin have finally put your differences aside. Perhaps the two of you could grow to become something more." Rarity replies calmly, despite all the yelling that took place before.

"Zephyr was disappointed when he found out you weren't coming. It's nice to know it was for a good cause," Fluttershy added on to what Rarity had said.

"Thank you for being understanding, unlike some people." Dash rolls her eyes at all the yelling that had took place not long ago. "And Zephyr can suck my dick, even though he'd like it."

Fluttershy choked on her saliva upon hearing Dash's last comment. She did her best to not laugh because it was an insult to her younger brother.

A couple of moments later, Dash heard her bedroom door slowly creak open. Her fight-or-flight response was triggered, so she chucked one of the pillows on her bed in the direction of the door. She had assumed it was a perpetrator, not thinking about the fact that she wasn't alone in the house.

The moment the pillow was out of her hands, Dash had realized that it was actually Soarin who was at the door, and it was too late for her to stop the pillow from flying.

Soarin grunted as the pillow hit him square in the face. His fists balled up and his face turned a deep red. If his face could have burned through the pillow, it would.

"Oh you're so gonna get it," he threatens.

"Wait-"

He picks up the pillow that had slid off his face and charged at her with it. Dash grabbed another pillow to defend herself with, but it was too late because Soarin had already knocked her back onto her bed. He placed himself on top of her before repeatedly whacking her across her face with it. He didn't do it too hard tho. He didn't want to hurt her again.

"Soarin! Ah!" She yelped as she felt the blows from the pillow hit her across the face. She was about to snatch it out of his hands and throw it across the room when Soarin suddenly launched the pillow behind him. He had a mischievous smirk on his face as he looked down at her. "Why are you looking at me like that?" She asked, slightly nervous for what he was about to do.

"Out of all your weaknesses, there is only one that I have never really used against you."

"And that is?"

Soarin clawed his hands and held them right under her armpits. The moment his hands claws up, Dash knew what she was coming. She tried escaping him, but he had already made contact with her body.

He moved his fingers as if they were spider legs all over her body. The action caused Dash to burst into laughter. She is very ticklish, especially under her armpits. Sometimes, the slightest stroke against some parts of her skin was enough to make her twitch.

"STOP- HAHA!" Dash squirmed uncontrollably as Soarin continued to tickle her. Her laughs slowly turned into screams, indicating she couldn't take it anymore. Despite the fact that her cries were getting worse as each second passed, he didn't lift a single finger off of her.

"Say sorry." He strayed one hand from her body and brought it up to her ear, where he knew she was sensitive. Dash wasn't going to let him take advantage of that, so she acted quickly and spit out the apology faster than you could blink.

"Okay! I'm sorry!" She exclaimed in between yells.

"Heh, that was surprisingly easy," he chuckled while moving himself off of her. "You must be really sensitive on your ears."

"You're so annoying. You know that, right?" Dash pushed herself upwards so she was sitting upright on her bad. An angry pout formed on her face, not pleased with the fact that he tortured her with tickles.

"Awe, I thought we were friends." He says they're friends, yet tickling can be a sign of flirting. Soarin traced his index finger between her brows where her wrinkles formed when she frowned. "You could frown all day and I wouldn't mind because I'd get to see these cuties."

She hid the blush that appeared on her face behind her hands, though there was no point in doing so because her hands were quite small. What was so cute about her wrinkles remained a mystery to her, but if Soarin liked it, who was she to complain?

The cheeky smile Soarin was giving her made her shiver. His hand rest on her bare thigh, and his thumb left swift, yet light strokes on it. The tingly feeling that coursed through her body forced her hand to rest on top of his.

Suddenly, Dash's eyes locked with Soarin's. Unfortunately for her, she didn't realize that she wouldn't be able to take them off of him for a long while.

Soarin cups his hand on her cheek and brings her face closer to his. He didn't know why he was doing it or what he was planning on doing next, but something told him to make the move.

"Are you two done yet?" Someone says in a low, yet annoyed tone.

The two teens leapt away from each other upon hearing those words. They snapped them out of the trance they were both trapped in. Their eyes shot in the direction of the noise, which came from the laptop in front of Dash.

"TWILIGHT!" Rarity, Pinkie Pie, and surprisingly Fluttershy all yelled at the same time. Twilight didn't seem to be fazed by any of them.

"Soarin interrupted the call," she deadpanned. Her arms were crossed and one eyebrow was cocked upwards.

"And you interrupted a potential kiss!" Rarity huffs and points her nose in the air. "You should be ashamed of yourself, Twilight."

"Woah, we were not going to kiss!" Dash laughs nervously at her friend's words. "We just became friends less than two days ago!"

"Yeah, Rarity. You need to chill," Soarin added.

Pinkie reaches behind her and grabs a blue baseball cap, holding it in front of her without saying a word. Her expression was awfully humoring, being similar to the one Twilight was also wearing. She didn't say a word, yet they all knew what she was getting at.

"It's not cap!" Rainbow Dash furrows her brows, remembering how Soarin liked to see her do so.

"I smell major cap," Fluttershy whispered. Before she could take the opportunity to say something else, Angel Bunny began aggressively hopping on her head with a section of her hair between his teeth. "Oh my goodness. Not again."

"Flutters, you need to just give Angel away." Dash shook her head disapprovingly from seeing the angry rabbit's behavior. He always acted like he was superior to his owner, and it frustrated Dash a lot. As much as she hated to admit it, Fluttershy was a pushover.

"But he's my pet," Fluttershy replied innocently. "It's feeding time for him, anyway. I'll see you girls later." She released a discontent sigh before waving them all off and trying to pry Angel Bunny off of her head at the same time.

Everyone else (including Soarin) bid their goodbyes before Fluttershy closed out of the call. The odd silence between all of them after she had left was unsettling. No one knew what to say, especially Soarin and Dash.

"Um, I'm going to go back to sleep, darling," Rarity says hesitantly. Twilight and Pinkie nodded in agreement with her statement.

All the girls had flee from the call, leaving Soarin and Dash alone. Dash was hoping that this time, they could have talked about another topic after she had brought up hers, but they had all left before she could.

Once again, the room was dead silent. On the right corner of the room by the window, there was a pedestal fan. It's howling breeze was the only noise that was heard by either of them. It was so quiet that even their breathing was unable to be heard.

Dash couldn't help but hold her breath. What was Soarin planning on doing after he pulled her face towards his? What was she planning on doing? She had many questions, but there was only one person who had the answers. Unfortunately for her, it didn't seem worth it to ask them to him.

If you couldn't tell already, Dash hates a lot of things. But one of the things she hates the most are awkward silences. She is usually such a talkative person, even if the topics she brought up were all about herself. At least when she did, it wasn't silent. The quietness in the room was slowly killing her, and she couldn't take it anymore.

"So, wonderful day we're having!" Dash tries to start up a conversation. She chuckles to herself upon realizing how bad of a conversation starter that was.

"You don't have to act like everything's alright, Dash, because it's not." Soarin shook his head disapprovingly.

"But-"

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that. I let my mind get the best of me. It won't happen again," he apologized, not giving her a chance to say anything else. "I'm gonna make some breakfast for the both of us. I'll call you down when it's ready, Princess." He moved some of her hair behind her ear, purposefully brushing his fingers on it.

Dash's mind was spinning in circles. First, he called her "princess", again. Even though this was only the second time, she couldn't help but feel weird whenever he did. Second, he made contact with her ears. He knew about the sensitivity, so without a doubt, he had done it on purpose. And lastly, the tickling. He tortured her with tickles all because of a pillow. Maybe he didn't know it was an accident, and he reacted out of self defense. Even then, why would he tickle her instead of some other method?

Perhaps Dash was overreacting about Soarin's recent gestures. From what she knew, he didn't really have female friends until the two of them confirmed their friendship. Was it possible that he just might not know how to treat a girl as a friend?

Her thoughts were interrupted as she felt Soarin's weight lift off of her bed. By the time she finally took the time to process what had happened, Soarin had already head out the door.

Dash sighs sadly as she watched him leave. Why was she so . . . unsatisfied? Like she was stripped of something amazing when Twilight interrupted the moment. The thing is, she didn't know what that something was, so it didn't make sense for her to be upset.

"It won't happen again", he had said, yet she wanted the exact opposite.

Sorry, they can't kiss just yet.

If they kiss, it's over ¯\_()_/¯

Also, Twilight is a bitch for interrupting them. She should stick to books.
