Day 5

Day 5: Week 1 || That Time of the Month

Yesterday was a day to remember, though Rainbow Dash couldn't recall much of what happened after Soarin had left her room. Her head was doing much better now, and it had stopped throbbing from getting hit with a ball. She still had a little trouble staying balanced, and it only got worse when she stood up too fast. At least the pain in her head had stopped. Nothing was worse than the pain she was experiencing now.

"Grrrr," Dash growled in pain while clutching her lower abdomen. She woke up this morning a mess and she ran to the bathroom to get herself cleaned off. She had anticipated this would happen, but the event that occurred yesterday made her completely disregard the possibility of it coming today.

Yes. It's that time of the month.

After changing into a new set of bottoms, Dash flopped onto her bed and continued whining about the pain. She needed to take some pain reliever medicine, but that was downstairs, and she couldn't afford to feel any more pain than she already was. She grabbed her phone and sent a quick message to Soarin, hoping he would respond. The brightness of her cell phone blinded her eyes, and brought the pain to her head back.

Rainbow: PLEASE BRING ACETAMINOPHEN

It was super early in the morning, and Dash was not going back to sleep anytime soon. If Soarin didn't answer soon, she'd have to get the medicine herself. The fact that she thought he would actually come is beyond her ability of thinking right now. She needed a pain reliever as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Soarin was lying in his bed chatting with his friends when he saw a message from Rainbow pop onto his phone. She almost never texts him, especially at this time. He heard a scream from her room and instantly jumped out of bed and followed the noise. It was as if he acted on instinct due to how quick he abandoned his friends to go to her.

He swung the door of her room open and saw her writhing in her bed with her arms hugging her stomach. Had she eaten something bad last night? Maybe the soup he fed her yesterday did more harm than good. After all, she did say it tasted bad. Hopefully it wasn't expired because he had forgotten to check.

"Dash! What's going on?" He ran to her side as she rocked herself from side to side. "Does your head still hurt?"

"My head's not important right now. Did you bring it?" Dash looked up at him with hope in her eyes, but Soarin honestly had no idea what she was talking about. Wow, she was referring to the message he didn't even read.

"I . . . no," he slowly admitted just before Dash let out another cry. He put two and two together and realized what was really going on.

"Please just . . . get the acetaminophen," she croaked. Soarin rushed out of the room to get it before she could even say the full name of the medicine. She smiled at how caring he was, but it immediately faded after remembering what she had asked him yesterday.

"Why . . . are you being so . . . nice to me?"

She understands that he had unintentionally hurt her yesterday, so he felt obligated to nurse her back to health. But today, he helped her without complaining or question. It's not that she didn't want him to be nice to her. She's just scared that he might just be pranking her again. Her trust in him faded after that. He said he'd never hurt her on purpose, but he meant physically. Not emotionally.

Soarin came back with a glass of water and a pill tube. He placed them on the nightstand beside her bed and sat beside Dash. He hooked his arms around her small figure and slowly helped her sit up. When she groaned, a wave of sympathy washed over him. So this is what girls have to go through every month? He pondered over the thought. He wouldn't be able to do it even if he tried.

He felt Dash snuggle into him as her legs twitched from the pain she felt. She was using him for comfort, and his presence made her feel better. He grabbed the pill tube and poured two of them into the cap. Dash opened her mouth and waited for him to get the water so she could swallow the pills.

"Open wide. I don't want to choke you," he spoke softly, and it sent chills down her spine. Out of context, that sounds really bad. He popped two pills in her mouth just before tipping the cup over her mouth to help her swallow. She finished the entire glass in just two gulps.

"T-Thank y-EEOOOOW," she suddenly yelled. Dash slowly exhaled after the feeling of being stabbed in her lower abdomen. She's never actually been stabbed before, and she doesn't plan on it anytime soon, but what she felt was probably the most pain she's had through a period cramp.

Soarin's eyes widened with worry when he heard her yell like that. Not once in his life has he seen her is so much pain because of a cramp. In fact, he had forgotten she even went through this every month due to how quiet she was about it.

"I'm gonna make you some cereal and bring it up to you. Sound good?" He said while looking down at her. Dash shook her head at his statement.

"No, I'll get it myself . . . grr." The pain was bothering her so much that she could barely get a full sentence out without yelling or growling. She was trying so hard to fight it, but she couldn't.

"Has it ever hurt this much?" He asked.

"No." She simply replied. As she stood up from her bed and made her way to the door, she felt all the pain rush downwards and cause her to fall over. "This really sucks." Soarin ran to her side in an effort to help her up, but she declined. No, she wouldn't show weakness! At least . . . she wouldn't show any more weakness.

"Dash, you can barely walk two steps without falling over. Let me help you," he insisted but she pushed him away. Though it was part of the reason, Dash wasn't just declining his help because she wanted to show she was strong. She was also doing to see if he would be persistent. In all honesty, her trust in him was at an all time low. Yes, she was still salty about the prank, and she couldn't let him catch her off guard again.

"Don't touch me." She moves herself away from him and stood to her feet all in just a few seconds. She brushed her knees off due to some dust getting on them. "See. I can walk just fine."

"You don't want me to touch you, but you were just cuddling me," Soarin says with confusion. Blood rushed to her cheeks and she turned her face away from him so he wouldn't see.

"I-I was moving towards the medicine. Plus, if I didn't, you would've made me swallow those pills myself." She half lied. Indeed, he would not have put the pills in her mouth if she didn't.

"So you wanted me to basically feed you pills? Should I feed you your cereal too?"

"I am perfectly capable of feeding myself! The water and pills just were too far for me to reach." Dash limped towards the stairs and slipped on the first step, causing her to slide halfway down. The fall wasn't too kind to her stomach. It only increased her pain by more. "FUUUUUCK!" She yelled at the top of her lungs.

Soarin facepalmed at her outburst. She should've let him help her. The stairs were wooden, so imagine how much it would hurt to slide on your ass.

He picked her up and carried her to the living room. Dash didn't bother trying to jump out of his arms because she could barely walk without assistance.

Soarin set her down on the long couch where she could spread her body out as much as she wanted to, but Dash isn't even use half the space. Her body was curled up in the fetal position as she whimpered in pain.

"It hurts so bad . . ." Her voice was barely above a whisper. Her eyes were shut tightly to keep any water from spilling out of them. Why was it hurting so much anyway? This has never happened to her before, and it's even worse knowing that her parents weren't here to figure out what's wrong. Soarin may be helpful, but he just couldn't make up for both of her parents'.

Dash opened her eyes for a fraction of a second and saw Soarin with a bowl of Froot Loops. It was her favorite cereal, and not because they were rainbow colored. They just tasted good. Unfortunately, Dash's appetite dissipated once she saw the cereal.

Soarin brought a spoonful up to her mouth, but she turned her head away from it.

"But this is your favorite cereal!" Soarin said with a hint of frustration. When she groaned again, he realized she wasn't rejecting it because she didn't want it. "Dash, as much as you don't want to eat, you have to." He stroked the spoon on her bottom lip, slightly opening her mouth. Dash reluctantly allowed the spoon of cereal in her mouth. "Chew and swallow."

She gagged as she felt the cold milk and circular pieces of cereal in her mouth. One, she had forgotten to brush her teeth, so she still had the foul taste of bacteria in her mouth. Two, she just couldn't bring herself to eat anything at the moment.

Once she swallowed, she felt her stomach churn.

"S-S-Soarin," she whispered as she shook lightly. "Plastic bag, please." Soarin's eyes widened and he ran in the kitchen pantry to get  one. By the time he was back, it was too late. She had puked all over the living room carpet in front of her. "I'm sorry." She apologized.

"It's okay. I'll clean it." He handed her the plastic bag and she let out the rest of what was still inside of her into the bag. Soarin cringed as he saw it all come out of her. He honestly shouldn't be looking at it. "On a scale of one to ten, how much does it-"

"TEN!" She screamed before he could even finish.

"That bad, huh?" He sympathized. "I'm going to clean up your mess. Scream if you need me, okay?" He ruffles her hair before walking off to get something to clean the carpet with.

Dash didn't even hear a word he said due to how much she was moaning and groaning. When she felt his hand touch her hair, the pain went away from a split second before returning again. Ever after it returned, the rest of her body was calmed down enough for her to fall back asleep.

Rainbow woke up from the feeling of someone forcefully shaking her. Her eyes fluttered open and she met face to face with Soarin. Him being right in front of her made her jump a little.

"Why?" She asked.

"You were moaning in your sleep," he responded. Soarin saw her about to panic but he instantly calmed her down. "I mean moaning in pain! Don't worry." Dash released a load of air she had been holding in. What a relief.

"Hmm." She curled back up into a ball when she felt the pain return to her. She had really hoped that medicine and a good nap would have eased it, but it didn't seem to do anything at all.

"How long does this usually go on for?" He sits beside her head on the couch and waits for an answer. He plays with her hair while she's distracted.

"The pain or the bleeding?"

"Let's just say both."

"Well," Dash brings her knees up closer to her chest. "I usually bleed for about six to seven days and have cramps for the first three." Soarin chuckled lightly as he felt her lean up against him. His smile faded as quickly as it appeared on his face. She was getting too comfortable with him.

"Do you want me to bring you back to your room?" He tries changing the subject. It was a rather stupid question because he knows that moving her will make the pain worsen.

Dash shook her head and closed her eyes again. She couldn't sleep very well, so she just rested her eyes. While she rest, she noticed Soarin's hand stroking her hair lightly. It sent shivers down her spine and it drew her attention away from the pain. The stroking suddenly stopped, as and she brought his hand back down to continue.

"I know this sounds weird, but please don't stop," she begged.

"W-Why?" He asked hesitantly. The fact that she wants him to stroke her hair didn't sit right with him.

"It helps me forget about the pain. That's all." This was the second time she lied about why she sought his help today. She was too afraid to tell him the real reason.

Just when she thought it was over, Dash felt her mouth water and something rush up her throat. She grabbed the plastic bag from before and puked her guts into it.

"You haven't eaten since yesterday. What could you possibly be eliminating?" He pulled his phone out from his pocket and looked up the answer for himself. His hand pat her back to help her get it all out. His eyes glanced into the bag and he saw a greenish-yellow liquid inside. It made him want to throw up himself. "That's gross."

"Shut up before I beat your ass!" She yelled, her face still in the bag. Soarin smirked at her brashness, despite being in the most pain she's probably ever been.

"Do you seriously want to do this right now?"

"No. Not really. Ughhh."

"Just sleep, okay? You'll probably wake up weighing less than you did yesterday, though." Soarin informs her. He had searched it up while she had taken a nap earlier. "How much do you weigh again? Like 120 pounds?"

"I'm sixteen pounds less than that," she deadpanned. A yawn escaped her mouth and she tied the bag of bile shut so no liquid would escape. She lay her head on his lap and drifted off to sleep almost immediately.

Soarin felt like carrying her up to her room so she'd be more comfortable, but he didn't want to wake her. She hated being woken up from a slumber.

He made himself comfortable by tilting his head back so it'd make contact with the back of the couch. It didn't take long for him to join Dash in the dream world. Today was an awfully stressful day.

A/N

Tbh this has gotta be one of my least favorites. It took forever to write and idk. It's not...you know.

I wrote this from experience so maybe that's why it was so hard to write.

Doesn't matter, though.

Also RainbowManedPegasus said I'm not allowed to skip days :((((;
