Day 2

Day 2: Week 1 || Affection

Yesterday was an awfully interesting day, especially for Soarin. Rainbow's new attitude towards him made him feel like he had done something really bad. She could barely face him anymore without getting all flustered. He shouldn't have done that to her. No, he doesn't feel sorry for her. He just misses being able to yell at her without any awkward tension.

Since the first time he teased her (which was a year ago), she hasn't been the same. Even though they hated each other, they could at manage to be in the same room for at least an hour. Now, Rainbow can't even last a minute. She'd always find an excuse to leave the room.

Last night, she had gone downstairs to eat Soarin's leftovers because she was famished. She entered the kitchen and saw him sitting on the counter with a troubled look on his face. Not wanting him to see her, she immediately turned around and tried to escape. This didn't go unnoticed by Soarin though. Her rainbow hair compared to the nude color of the walls made her really stand out.

"Dash!" Soarin raced after her before she could put her foot in the first step of the stairs. "Aren't you hungry?"

"Not anymore," she grumbled and stomped around him, not bothering to look at his face.

The next morning, Soarin decided to get to the bottom of things. He needed to know why she was trying to avoid him. It would be pointless because they're stuck in a small house together anyways. They'd cross paths multiple times, whether she liked it or not. Okay, the house isn't actually small, but it's not like being in a large, open space.

Soarin tiptoes to Dash's room where he knew she was still sleeping. For as long as they've known each other, he's actually never stepped foot inside her room. She never allowed it, claiming there were "private things" in it.

He checked the clock at the end of the long hall for the time. It was only ten minutes before noon, so waking her up shouldn't be a big deal, right? Right? He was definitely going to regret this, but it'd be worth it.

DON'T GO IN THERE.

Soarin slowly opens the door and saw the rainbownette sleeping soundly on her bed. He heard rumors from his friends that she snores, especially when she's in class, but that didn't seem to be the case here. If anything, she slept quieter than he did.

Her bed is in the middle of the right wall, parallel to the door. Across the bed was a dresser with a tall mirror attached to it. Opposite of the door was a window with white colored curtains covering it to block out the sun. In front of it was a long, black table with all her schoolwork on it. The walls were painted a sky blue color, and the ceiling was painted with clouds. Soarin wouldn't mind having a room like this, and he's surprised he'd never seen it before.

He diverts his attention back to the main reason he was here in the first place: to get answers. He tiptoed over to Rainbow's sleeping figure and was about to roughly shake her awake, but he heard a noise come out of her. It sounded like a groan, but he wasn't too sure.

Instead, he place his hand on her shoulder to slowly wake her up until he felt something warm touch it. He looked down and saw Rainbow clutching onto his hand tightly. He tried to break free, but her grip only tightened. She would not let him go.

"Mmm, Soarin," she softly moaned. Soarin's face had a look of pure terror as he heard her say his name while sleeping. What on earth was she dreaming about? Hopefully it wasn't about him and her . . . doing stuff. He heard her moan again, and she began stroking his hand with her thumb. "Hmmmm."

Did she know he was there? Was she playing tricks on him as revenge for what he did yesterday? It seemed like something Dash would do, but something was telling him that she was really asleep. She couldn't have known he was going to come in her room and wake her up. Is this real life?

Suddenly, she changed her position to where she was facing him, but her eyes were still closed. Her grip on him did not change. Soarin shivered as he felt her warm breath in his arm. As dangerous as it would be for him, he REALLY wanted her to wake up. He couldn't take it anymore, so he did something he knew he'd regret doing once she was conscious of the situation.

He leaned towards the side of her face and bit down hard on her ear. It worked like a charm, because the moment after she felt the pain on her earlobe, her body sprung upright. She was still unconsciously clutching onto his hand. Soarin was completely silent as she let out a raspy yawn, and his hand was STILL in hers.

"Rainbow Dash?" He whispered, quickly catching her attention. Her eyes grew the size of basketballs as she saw the teenage boy standing beside her. Not knowing what to say, she screamed in confusion as to why he was in her room in the first place.

"WHAT. ARE. YOU. DOING. IN. HERE?!" She gritted through her teeth.

"Nevermind that," Soarin rolled his eyes and fixed them on her. "The real question is why you were saying my name in your sleep." He chuckled a little as he watch her turn as red as the color in her hair. "What was with all the moa-"

"See, this is exactly why my room is off limits!" She yelled, not bothering to answer his question. Soarin didn't take that as an answer, so he asked her again.

"What was your dream about, Dash?" He smirked as he felt her grip on him tighten. Wait, why was she still holding onto him? Does she not know what's in her own hand?

She still didn't answer his question. How was she supposed to tell him that she was dreaming about the two of them doing weird, intimate things? She's supposed to hate him, but literally everything is telling her not to. Her friends, the dream, even Soarin himself in a way. In her heart, she desperately doesn't want to hate him anymore, but her mind says otherwise.

"I can't tell you," she chooses to reply. Now he's going to be even more suspicious. Nice going, Dash.

"Why not? Was it about me and my handsomeness?" Soarin puckers his lips and bounces his eyebrows up and down. He always makes that face when he compliments himself.

"Shut up, douchebag. Not everything is about you," she nearly snapped.

Dash looks down at her right hand, which was gripping onto her nemesis' hand. Jeez, she's so drawn to him that she absentmindedly grabbed him in her sleep. From the corner of her eye, she could see him staring down at her, probably confused as to why she was still holding him.

"Are you . . . gonna let go?" He asked her. She released his hand once she noticed he saw her looking. He's never going to leave me alone for that

"Get out," Dash says, but not loud enough for Soarin to hear.

"What did you say?"

"GET OUT!" Her index finger pointed in the direction of the door, signaling for him to leave. She didn't want to kick him out, but she needed time alone. This is not how she planned out her morning.

Soarin didn't hesitate once she yelled at him. He let his feet guide him to the door, but his eyes never left hers. Due to him not paying attention to what was in front of him, he slammed into the wall beside the door, breaking his gaze. Hoping she didn't notice (even though she was staring directly at him), he sped out of the door and slammed it behind him.

What just happened?

════*.·:·.☽✧ ✦✧☾.·:·.*════

The time is 4:32pm, and the house had been oddly quiet since the event that happened at noon. Rainbow Dash hasn't left her room since she woke up, meaning she hasn't showered, brushed her teeth, or even eaten since yesterday. Dash loves to eat, so this was rather strange for her. In the four and a half hours that Dash spent in her room, she did absolutely nothing but stare up at the ceiling. Her mind was occupied with thoughts of things that didn't even make sense.

Why did Soarin come in her room without permission? For years, he's respected the rule she put in place, but today he just broke that rule. If he was trying to get in her nerves and wake her up, it clearly backfired because he . . . heard something else. At least he didn't look inside her nightstand. That would've been embarrassing.

Soarin, on the other hand, did his usual morning routine. He wasn't going to let another awkward encounter ruin his day. Except it did. After washing up and eating breakfast, he locked himself in his room as well. Unlike Rainbow Dash, he actually did something "productive" besides just staring off into space. Unfortunately, he couldn't enjoy any of it because his mind wouldn't let him forget about this morning. Brains suck, don't they?

Soarin should've listened to his conscious before he invaded Dash's privacy. He can't figure out what was more awkward about his first time in her room: the fact that she said his name in her sleep, or the fact that she grabbed him. Speaking of her grabbing him, why didn't she let go of his hand once she saw she was holding it? What stopped her?

The atmosphere of the house was making the two teenagers uncomfortable, and they couldn't take it anymore. They hated being isolated in their room, so they both had the idea to go watch some television in the living room. Both of them.

════*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*════

Rainbow Dash leapt up from her bed and grabbed a purple robe from her closet. She then exits her room to go to the bathroom, which was just across the hall. After entering the bathroom and closing the door behind her, she brushes her teeth and gets ready for a nice, long shower. If the idea of watching television didn't come to her mind, she wouldn't have found the strength the wash up.

After showering, Dash dries her body off and puts her robe over it. Finally, she gets dressed in a pair of blue booty shorts with white and pink polka dots, and a white crop top with red sleeves. It was one of her favorite outfits because it made didn't make her feel like she was wrapped up in a burrito.

She jogged down the stairs and headed for the living room. She was excited to finally get out of her room for the day. What type of show or movie would she be watching today? Maybe something funny? Or even an action movie. Oh, how she adores action. Daring Do it is-

Her thoughts were interrupted when she bumped into something. She assumed it was a wall because of how hard it was, but then she realized it was just Soarin's chest. Wait, SOARIN'S CHEST?

"Oh my god," she groaned. Dash was about to turn on one heel and get herself out of that situation, but Soarin got ahold of her hand. A light blush creeps onto her face, and she tries her best to hide it. She twists and turns her wrist to slip out of his grasp and almost succeeds, but of course, Soarin caught her again. "Let me go."

"Rainbow, don't you hate how were all of a sudden avoiding each other?" He asks her. She refused to face him because she can never take her eyes off him, and she could never understand why. Soarin cups her chin with his hand and forces her to look up at him.

"Let go of me, now."

"Don't you miss yelling at me without all this awkward tension? I know you miss it, Dash."

"You ruined it for us, Soarin!" She suddenly snapped. "I'm not some toy for you to play with because there are no other girls around! Just leave me alone." Soarin's grip on her lightened, and she took the opportunity to rip herself out of the position she was in. Her breath became heavier by the second, and she was having a hard time breathing. She wasn't wearing her wristbands because she had forgotten to put them in after her shower, so she had nothing to fidget with.

Soarin sighs as he saw her hyperventilating. This really is his fault, isn't it?

"I ruined it, so let me fix it," he begged, practically in his knees. "Please."

Dash saw the determination in his eyes. He wasn't going to give up unless she told him yes, so she reluctantly gave in.

"Fine."

════*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*════

"I don't wanna watch that!"

"This is the twentieth movie you've rejected!"

"I'll reject more if you don't let me pick!"

If you guessed that Soarin and Rainbow are arguing again, then you guessed correctly. They can't seem to decide what type of movie they want to watch. Soarin wants to gush over a romance movie, while Dash wants to feel the rush of an action movie. Things seem to be back to normal...for now.

"Ok, what movie do you wanna watch?" Soarin politely asks Dash. His left eye twitched from being a little too nice to her.

"Not a sappy romance movie. I don't want to watch people kissing and crying over a break up," she pouted. Soarin noticed Dash looking off to the side and not paying attention to the television in front of them. He clicked the "select" button on the remote and picked a romance movie, despite not knowing what it was about.

When Dash heard sound from the television, she whipped her head towards Soarin, almost growling at him.

"What type of movie did you put on?" Before he could answer, she snatched the remote out of his hands to check the name of the movie. "Seriously, Soarin? TANGLED!? What are we, elementary schoolers?"

"I clicked a random movie, okay? Plus, Tangled is not just for elementary schoolers. There's a scene with a noose in it," Soarin defends the movie. Dash's hand absentmindedly flew to her neck. She didn't even want to think about how that felt.

"I feel like you're lying, but okay."

"Should we change the movie?" He groans internally. They've been at this for an entire hour. There's no way they're going to end up actually watching something.

"No." She responded, letting the movie play. Soarin was shocked that she didn't fight back against him. He expected to argue about movies until midnight like they usually did, but something stopped her.

"This is the story of how I died."

Dash rolls her eyes at the ridiculously stupid line. Why did she agree to watching to movie again?

"Doesn't he come back to life?" Dash asks, but it was more of a statement because she knew the answer.

"Shh," Soarin silences her by placing a finger over her lips.

The main character, Rapunzel, has been locked in a tower for eighteen years since she was kidnapped from the kingdom of Corona. She has seventy feet of long, golden, healing hair that turns brown when it's cut. An ancient old lady, Mother Gothel uses Rapunzel's hair to keep herself young. One day, Rapunzel decides she wants to- actually, we've all seen Tangled, correct? No more unnecessary explanations.

Halfway through the movie, Dash began to feel her eyelids get heavy from keeping her eyes fixed on a screen for so long. She rested her head on an object closest to her and closed her eyes. She unconsciously cuddled into whatever she was laying on.

Oh for Pete's sake, Rainbow Dash, it's only been 47 minutes. Could you make this any more cliche?

Soarin felt something hit his right shoulder, so he looked down to see what it was. Surprisingly, he saw that Dash was cuddled into him. He snorted at the sight and proceeded to shut off the TV. He didn't realize how dark it was inside, and that the TV was literally the only source of light.

To make sure she was actually asleep, Soarin slowly opened one of her eyelids.   Her eyeball rolled to the back, indicating that she was, in fact, asleep. He took this opportunity to do something she'd never let him do if she was awake: he gave her a light peck on her forehead. She released a soft sigh as if she was aware of the kiss. Soarin could've sworn he saw her smile afterwards, but it was most likely just in his head.

He carried her bridal style upstairs and down the dark hall to her bedroom. This would be the second time he goes in without her permission, but she couldn't complain. He was simply taking her to her bedroom like the gentleman he is. Using his foot, he kicks the bedroom door open, not wanting to accidentally drop the sleeping girl in his arms. Plus, the door wasn't fully shut.

He moved the covers of the bed and slid her underneath, pulling them over her body afterwards. As he let go of her, it felt as if a part of him was ripped off of him. Rainbow didn't seem to like the fact that she felt alone either. She grabbed the closest thing to her (which happened to be a pillow) and hugged it as if it was a person.

"What a cutie," he whispers. If Dash has heard him say that, she would never speak to him again. He moved some strands of her hair out of her face so it didn't tickle her face while she was sleeping. "Goodnight, Rainbow Dash." He gave her one last forehead kiss before leaving her room.

After he left, Rainbow Dash's eyes widen from what had just happened. No, she was never asleep. It was all a test to see what he would do if she suddenly fell asleep on him.

"G-Goodnight Soarin," she waved at the door, even though he was long gone.

A/N

It's been four days, but I FINALLY finished.

I feel like there's not enough dialogue but oh well.

Also completely ignore the fact that I forgot Soarin's other hand.

You're welcome. Now I'm going to sleep.

Tell me if I messed up somewhere.

Goodnight.

Why am I still here.
