Scam and Conflict Part 1

Sitting on the deck, I focused...why you may ask? Because there before me were the guys and Anna all trying to play a game of Volleyball. I may have been betting in my mind who might get spiked first...so far all bets were tied between Anna and Peter. Don't get me wrong, the guys could find things to do easy...working wasn't a common one though. No wonder they were always late on rent. Standing to look up at them I see a group of girls walking their way.

I was no use to the bathing suits from this time. Some were more revealing than others and you could see more than you wanted to. Moving to the railing I kneel down and watch the scene before me. All those girls with perfect hair, nails and bodies. They could pull off swim suits like that, here I was embarrassed to wear a belly shirt.

Flirting to them seemed natural. Anna can see me looking down as she comes up and puts a pair of sun glasses on me.

"Come on! Just try, I promise it'll be fun." Anna says pulling me into the house.

Pulling me as hard as she can into another room she pulls off my clothes and puts a bikini from this time on me. I didn't even try to stop her but I did cover myself when I looked at the floor length mirror that was starring at me.

"Really?! A yellow polka dot bikini?! I question her choice as she just nods and smiles.

"Yeah, you know after the song!" she grins as she pulls me out of the room. "Have confidence, and just have fun."

Right...easy for her to say! Hiding behind the door, I peek my head out and see the girls are still there talking to the guys. Anna walks up and looks down at me as if to say 'What are you doing?'. Gulping I watch as she walks past me and out to the deck, grabbing a volleyball she tosses it in the air and catches it a few times. Adjusting the sunglasses on my face, I walk out onto the deck right as Anna hits the ball in the direction of the guys.

The sand jumps up just as the ball crashes into it. The guys jump and look back or way. Within just a few moments I can see all their attention is on us. Still nervous about my suit, I quickly hide behind Anna. Rolling her eyes she takes off running. Betrayer! Running down the steps of the deck, I try to catch up with her when I literally trip over my own feet. Talk about embarrassing. Expecting to hit the ground I close my self and prepare for the plop, however it doesn't come. Instead I feel a pair of arms around me. Opening my eyes I see Peter looking down at me.

Peter caught me? He helps me to stand up as the rest of the guys rush over with Anna holding her sides laughing her head off. She would pay for this later.

"You alright? You almost went head first into the sand!" Micky says stating the obvious.

"Yeah, I guess I just need to be a little more careful." I chuckle trying to laugh it off as I look to Peter. "Thanks, you really saved me there."

Peter blushes.

"Just happened to be at the right place at the right place." Peter shrugs and then walks off to follow Davy who went to check on Anna who fell over in the sand laughing.

"Nice outfit, why were you hiding though?" Mike questions as I now remember why I was hiding behind Anna.

"Uh, well, I'm just not use to wearing things like this...not much confidence I guess." I shrug as Mike laughs and puts his arm around my neck.

"Come join the game. Have some fun and then later we can make dinner." Mike says as we walk up to the guys and I noticed the group of girls have gone, well all except for one.

"This is Mary, she wanted to join the game." Micky grins as he stands beside the blonde who looked like she just walked out of Barbie's world.

Pink lipstick and all.

"Right, well that makes it uneven so one of us would have to sit out." Davy says as he looks around.

I try to make a run for it but Mike grabs my arm and holds me in place. Why would they want me to play? It would be a mistake for the team that wanted to win, trust me. Anna instead says she wants to sit out and enjoy the sun. what she meant was she wanted to fall asleep on a tall while sunbathing. Which is exactly what she did.

So Mike, Peter and I were on one side as Davy and Micky as well as Mary were on the opposite side. Three on three shouldn't be that bad...right? Oh how wrong I was. The ball was going everywhere and I was trying hard to keep up with it. Then the ball went up high about to come my way when I readied myself to hit it back and barbie attacked. She jumped up and spiked the ball right into my chest knocking the wind out of me and sending me backwards. I really wish I had just stayed on the couch today. Feeling myself go falling back, I then feel something stop my fall.

"Twice in one day?" mike questioned with a chuckle.

One of his arms was under my back and the other was Peter who made sure I didn't fall back. However that didn't bring the air back into my lungs. Chocking, I tried to get air back into my lung and held my chest as I began to cough as hard as I ever had before. Both Mike and Peter's eyes widened. Pulling me away from Mike, Peter held my face and looked into my eyes.

"Steady, just take a short breath." Peter said in a surprisingly calm voice.

Doing as he said, I took in a short breath and listened to him, I couldn't take my eyes away from his even if I wanted to. He was calm and it looked like he knew what he was talking about.

"Good, now take a long one." He says as he continues to hold my head.

Doing so I can finally feel some relief from the burning in my chest. I see Peter smile as me and I relax into his arms and fall into a hug from him. Completely unaware of the evil look he was giving Mary and would only find out about from Mike later.

"Sorry, guess I don't know my own strength." Mary giggle as she looks to Micky and Davy who were still in shock.

"Maybe you'd better get going, I think we all need a break." Mike says as he stands up and walks up to Davy and Micky.

Mary just shrugs and then runs off in the direction her friends left in. Taking a deep breath I move to get up but feel my feet be lifted off the ground. Peter was carrying me inside. What had brought out this sudden change in him? Just was we walked into the house, there was a knock on the door and an older woman burst in with a butler behind her and two men carrying a coffin.

"Peter! My favorite nephew! We've come to talk with Uncle Teddy at his favorite spot!" she calls out to Peter.

Then everything went black, I am assuming I passed out in Peter's arms.

"Sarah? Come on you gotta wake up now...this is getting weirder by the minute." I can hear Anna calling out to me.

Opening my eyes slowly, I blink a few times before I realize that I am in the guys bedroom and have no memory of how I got there. Then I turn and see Anna looking down at me. She didn't look like she was mad but instead worried. Sitting up I take in a deep breath just as the door opens.

"You picked a beauty, she has quite the body too." The old woman laughs as she nudges Peter in the ribs.

Oh no...what is the old woman talking about? Mike then rushes in past Peter and the woman and sits down beside me, literally pulling me into his lap. Anna rolls her eyes at the action and I just sit there dumbfounded.

"Yeah Auntie, Anna will make a great wife. Why are you here again?" Peter questions as the old woman sits on the bed across from the one I was on.

"Your Uncle Teddy left a lot of unanswered questions and he said he would rise from the dead at his favorite spot at midnight tonight, all the questions would be answered including money problems. I am old and can't work so he better tell me where he left our money." She barely finishes before passing out on the bed.

Mike helps me to stand up and Peter runs his hand through his hair, this was a random situation to be in. Unsure what to do I watch as Anna walks up to Peter and maybe about to slap him when I go and stand between them.

"Anna, don't. You know he probably just want to ease her worries about him ever getting married." I defend Peter.

"But why did he use me? Usually you are the one that is married to one of them." Anna sighs and stomps her foot?

"One of them? Uh no, it's always been me." Mike says defensively as he moves to stand behind me.

"Still, I don't like this at all." Anna huffs and walks out of the room.

"Well, I don't think I'd want to marry her either." Peter laughs as both Mike and I look at him. "I know, dumb."

Walking back down stairs, following behind Peter with Mike following behind me. There in the middle of the living room was a coffin and a new man dressed in all black. Well there was the bad guy if I ever saw one. He walked to the coffin and began to mumble something to it, as if that wasn't weird enough he then turned back to us and pointed at me.

"You all should know that dear Uncle Teddy will not be at peace until he rises at midnight tonight." He says in all seriousness.

"What is he on?" I question as I walk to Anna.

"I have no idea, but he went double on it today." Anna says shaking her head.

Peter walks up to the casket and looks down at it. His uncle had passed and apparently this house was his favorite spot? Maybe it was where he had his best memory? Peter looked back and I could see the tears threatening to spill in his eyes.

"This is hitting Peter hard." Mike comments as he and Davy walk up to Anna and I.

"He didn't get notice or anything, his aunt and his dead uncle just showed up at his house. I think this reaction is normal, even for him." Anna says as she walks out of the house and back to the beach.

We all sat around and waited for midnight to come. We didn't believe that Peter's uncle would actually come back from the dead but nothing we said to the strange man or Peter's aunt would make them believe us. They were dead set...excuse the expression. Mike, Anna and the others were eating along with Peter's aunt and the weird guy. Peter sat outside looking to the ocean. I knew I had to talk to him, I didn't want him to feel like he was alone. Walking up to him I put my hand on his shoulder and he looked at me.

"I'm sorry Peter, I wish I had words of wisdom but I don't. You can still talk to me though." I tell him in a soft and calm voice.

"I don't believe that guy, just like you guys say. My uncle isn't coming back and I think all he wants to do is scam my aunt." Peter admits as he turns his body to face mine.

There was a good chance that what Peter was saying was right, if this guy was going to scam anyone he wouldn't probably pick an old widow first. In his eyes she was an easy target. Putting my arm around Peter, I lean my head on his shoulder trying to show support. He was a kind heart and though he acted unintelligent at times, I knew he was smarter than what he led on.

"You got us here for ya, if you want to try and stop him then you know we will all be behind you." I tell him as he puts his arm around me and pulls me in for a hug.

"Thanks, I think I may have a plan too." Peter whispers in a low voice.
