19: Mermaids and Sea Serpents

"They're responding!" Shrieked Quinn.

Having successfully sent information through a phone to Skylar and Andrew they seemed to be wanting to ask their own questions now. How the connection between worlds worked was a mystery to them all but it did.

"I didn't know that was even possible." Kenton replied in a hushed tone. "What do they want?"

She held up the phone slowly to show him the screen. The message from them only read three words "who are you?"

"Dive, Dive!" The unseen captain of the submarine commanded as alarms blared.

Bubbles seethed past the circular porthole windows as a yellow sub sunk under the water. This sub happened to carry two people that were on an endeavor to help others remember the Walt in Walt Disney.

They were on their second to last ride in the land of the future, Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, where one would sit back and relax in the air conditioned submarine that never even really went underwater. That is to say that's what it would do if it were in Disneyland but they weren't in fact there. Andrew and Skylar were at the Happiest Place on Earth, at least that's what it was called. Whether it was a good thing or not that they were there was not yet decided.

Like usual, the attraction they now were in was different from the one at Disneyland. It was like a real submarine on the inside as well as the outside and it was really sinking hundreds of feet down.

Through the portholes the two passengers saw a colorful array of coral with smaller fish swimming among it. Then a couple bigger fish slowly swished through the waters and out of sight.

A few fish here and there, a diver was spotted taking an underwater photo of a particularly interesting piece of coral. He was one of the only two people seen on this voyage and the second person was Darla.

Darla the fish-killing daughter of a dentist was holding a bag with one shrimpy fish in it while she clenched her braces in a devilish smile. She was not a favorite among any Disney-lovers and Skylar and Andrew were glad when they'd gone past her.

Now their voyage was in search of an active underwater volcano so naturally the submarine headed into a cave.

Red lobsters jumped out from crevices in the rock as the yellow vessel glided by. Then the captain informed them suddenly that they had sonar hydro-phones that could actually hear fish talk.

So, fish's voices filled the submarine as they were channeled and translated from the water. Some recognizable fish included Nemo, as well as Marlin and Dory who were trying to find him. Nemo was on an adventure of his own, following Squirt around the wide ocean.

The energetic turtle led Nemo first to the EAC also known as the East Australian Current. The yellow submarine followed, a mere observer to all the excitement.

Hundreds upon thousands of sea turtles surged through the EAC along with the three fish and the sub.

Bubbles obscured Skylar and Andrew's view again and they sat back, away from the small port hole windows.

Clutched in Andrew's hand currently was their only way of communication with the outside world at the moment, or at least they believed it to be the outside world. It was hard to tell, given their circumstances, what was real and what was supposed to be fake but was proved to them to be their reality as well.

Grasping for any reason or rhyme for their whereabouts, any information to them was somewhat sacred.

Having found out recently that they were not the only ones to have been in this place before came as a shock and added many more questions to their ever-growing list.

The people feeding them details recently had a mystery about them, like everything, and out of all the inquiries they could ask of them, one in particular was very important.

They needed to know who these people were and most importantly what side they were on, if there were sides.

Someone else was involved in all this, be it the Walt statue, people on the outside, or supernatural Disney characters, things were getting very confusing.

"Woah...." Came Nemo's voice. "It's a big, sunken, butt!"

"Sweeeeet." Replied Squirt.

Their portholes now had a dark view of the water. Old dilapidated pieces of a ship that sunk long ago were also seen here among a few fish, three sharks and a sea turtle.

The three sharks, of course, we're Chum, Anchor and Bruce. Their sleek gray skin shimmered as they recited their oath.

"Remember the pledge!" Bruce hollered, if fish could holler.

"I am a nice shark, not a mindless eating machine. If I am to change this image, I must first change myself." All three sharks raised their right fin and said the pledge in unison. "Fish are friends not food."

They pass by more of the rotten wood of the boat and Skylar and Andrew just hear Bruce's voice.

"Careful gents, wouldn't want one of these balloons to pop."

The balloons are actually active mines and hitting one, Bruce warned everyone to "Swim away!"

An array of red and orange lit bubbles swirled violently in the windows. A red light and alarm went off for a few seconds inside the submarine before the captain had the vehicle go dark again.

Outside the sub was completely dark too. Then a faint little orb of blue light floated through the darkness, slowly coming closer and closer. It bobbed slightly in the water, wavered as if afraid, then came closer still.

What kind of fish, or organism it was, was anyone's guess. (Although Andrew and Skylar's guess was the most accurate, due to the fact that they knew what to expect.)

The little light swam until it was almost touching the submarine's window, then with a flash and a roar they saw that the little blue orb was attached to an anglerfish with many rows of razor teeth. It's giant yellow eyes set above the gaping mouth took up the rest of its face except for the little cord that dangled the blue light in front of itself.

Like it did fish, the blue orb had lured them to look and wonder what it was, despite the fact that they already knew, hence the name anglerfish.

One appearance of that menacing looking fish and it was completely dark once more.

The next thing they knew Dory was playing a type of I Spy.

"I see something pink and bouncy, that looks like a balloon!" She exclaimed happily.

"Jellyfish!" Marlin yelled in a voice less thrilled.

Just after saying so, Skylar and Andrew saw what Marlin and Dory must have, bouncy pink jellyfish and a lot of them.

Floating angelically up and down, their venomous tentacles swayed in the water. The vibrant pinks lit up the water and they almost seemed to glow.

The giant bloom of jellyfish were being bounced on by two very daring fish "as a game." Although avoiding the tentacles wasn't something they were great at.

The windows gradually filled with red bubbles and the muffled sound of a volcano reached the insides of the submarine.

"Nemo!" Marlin called swimming frantically toward his son.

"Oooh, I found the hot tub." Dory sighed, floated in the little magma bubbles rising from a volcano.

They had found the underwater volcanos at last and Marlin, Nemo.

Lava flowed down the long ensemble of irregular shaped rocks that made up not only one but several small volcanos in one.

Every fish in the area was enjoying the hot bubbles of the magma, treating it as a spa. Every the group of fish from the dentist's office were doing their chant and as if to a ritual at "The Ring Of Fire!"

Bubbles frothed in the window once more and they were at the home of the clownfish, big orange sea anemones.

"Can we do it again Dad? Huh? Can we?" Nemo asked excitedly.

"Oh sure. When fish can fly." Marlin replied happily but hoping Nemo wasn't asking for real.

"Wooah." Squirt commented. "Why is that whale in that yellow submarine, dudes?"

A whale's deep bellow enveloped the submarine and it's teeth slowly were seen closing around them.

Although, like Pinocchio, they got out of that whale soon enough as it blew them and Dory out.

"Just keep swimming, just keep swimming." Dory glided along in the water. "What? Look a big yellow whale! Gooood byeee whaaale."

They had returned back to the normal lagoon filled with coral and colorful plant life.

"Should I mention this to anyone?" The captain's assistant asked as the sub began to rise to the surface.

"Nobody would believe us anyway, we'd better take her up before we have a run in with a sea serpent or an encounter with a mermaid." He responded.

Through the bubbles seething around in the window as they went up, you could just possibly, if you really tried, see the flash of a mermaid's green tail and the head of a rather scaly sea serpent.

"Who are we?" Kenton asked rhetorically, analyzing the question.

"We could just tell them who we are." Quinn suggested tentatively.

"Or answer vaguely, probably leading them to ask more." He compared.

"They need to know more." She debated, remembering their own shock when finding out the truth.

"They don't need to know everything, not yet. Ease them into it." Kenton sighed putting the matter aside. "I don't think going there again is a good idea."

"It will only be for that couple hours, I triple checks their schedules, only janitorial people will be there and they don't have access to that room." Quinn argued.

She had the suggestion of infiltrating their headquarters once more to try and break the encryptions of the controls of the partners statue. With that control they'd have the power to do basically anything, including pulling Skylar and Andrew out, before things got worse.

The deciphering would be a long process but with their skills it would eventually be doable with the proper time.

The risk, of course, being caught and the punishment was not just a slap on the wrists. They'd want more than a pound flesh, Kenton and Quinn could tell you that.

Once again, in their debate, Quinn wanted to take the chance, despite how big it was, and help out the two most recent guinea pigs.

Kenton on the other hand, didn't think it wise to stick their necks out for the two 14 year olds, although he was eager to assist them.

These two often disagreed on matters, and clashed heads on about everything.

They did however decide what to write.

"We're friends, and we want to help." Was the first text they responded with.

"How would you help?" Skylar and Andrew replied, after much thought.

"Ask and we will tell you about remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come." Kenton and Quinn worded very carefully.

"And how would you know such secrets?"

"We were you, two years ago."

Hello! And thanks for reading<3

Yeah it's been a while since I updated, (highschool is taking up all my time, darn hw!) but I'm so sorry!

We're almost done with Tomorrowland, just one more attraction... One of my favorites. It involves driving a car...

Anyways, don't forget to vote!
Happy back to school. (Noooooooo!)
