Regret.

Naruto's POV

I tried to twist my mouth to smile but it hurt me. Needles protruded from her ivory skin, going through her legs, neck and practically over her whole body. We were so confident we could beat him. Yet, that b'''' killed her. And Sasuke is alive because of it. She was dying and I can't stop it!! I am so helpless!

Sobs racked me and I get angry. So mad. SHE IS DEAD

Irate fuel makes my body shake, I feel something tug inside me.

And that boy.. Haku killed her..

HE SHOULD DIE!

I feel my body change, instead of blood there is liquid fire pulsing beneath my skin. I feel my chakra leak to surround me, my hands still beneath her cold, wet neck and holding her corpse.

I whip my head around, tears boiling off into steam on my face, my nails turn to claws, eager to rip flesh.

"HAKU!!" a menacing new growl mixed with my fierce red eyes, giving fear a new perspective to any onlooker.

I pull my hands back and let Keira fall from where I held her, trying not to whimper inside at the sad thump of her body thumping to the ground. I dash forward, throwing myself at the ice. It shatters in my wake.

I punch Haku back, my fist colliding with his mask, splitting it easily.

SASUKE'S POV

Ching

I pull the next weapon out of her neck.

Shing

It hits the concrete, the metal resounding quietly. I wince at the shlucking sound as pull a deeply embedded one out and drop its bloody shine to the ground.

She said to take them out. I can't really do anything, Naruto is dead set on killing that kid, stupid. Like that will bring her back, its just what she didn't want to happen.

Shingg

I have seen death like this before, my whole family. I am sad but I don't think the realization that she is dead hit me yet, I ddon't.

I drop the last needle beside her body, tears burn rivers on my face. I sniffle, trying to suck up all of my sorrow.

My hands lean closer to her, but I whip them back, suddenly disgusted. There is a corpse here, I felt sick, I think I am gonna throw up.

I swallow it and my throat burns from the sobs I refuse to let escape.

I look back at her and water comes crashing from my eyes. Her eyes were wide open, I try and steady my hand. I lay it over her face and bring my fingers down her eyes, pausing as I hover over her mouth. I swear I just felt air blow against my hand. I freeze, she is alive, barely.

I lay my head over her heart an I hear it thump quietly, yet resilient against the fate. I smile, crying tears of joy I pulled her body up from the torso and sit her up against me, allowing oxygen to return more easily for her.

She gasp s and her back arches as she coughs and hacks air into her body.

"Your alive!" I wrap my arms tightly around her body, fastening her to me.

She breathes and lets her body be loose, all of her energy focused on her breathe.

"Thanks, this things hurt" she whispered into my ear, thank god I pulled them out. It was just a temporary death stasis. My eyes traveled to the boy fight Naruto and I tensed. He couldn't kill her, such a selfless and hopeful soul, But with Naruto he could really end Haku's life.

I could feel the life coming into her and for the first time I smiled, no smirking or boasting, just a moments happiness.

She leaned back against me and struggled, with my help, to see the battle. I felt her pull her inner chakra and push it out to work on blood circulation in her body, that's smart, she is using it to enable quick healing and faster stamina returns.

The mask fell completely off of Haku and I heard Keira sigh. Suddenly she turned. "Thanks for everything " she kissed my cheek and was gone. Literally, gone as in vanished, her weight disappearing, leaving only the soft mark on my cheek. My fingers came to where her lips made contact and I tried to stand, looking frantically for the injured girl, and I saw her.

With Sensei's arm in her stomach. Blood splattered like paint against the ground and I stood up, wide eyed and shaking like a leaf in the wind. I stumbled and walked soon quickening to a sprint, failing to reach her body as it thumped sickeningly to the concrete, in a puddle of her own blood.

She wasn't dead, she was alive. Haku didn't kill her. I now see his body on the ground, someone pushed him. His eyes are so wide, he looks like an owl. All of us do, she didn't die. She lived. Haku didn't kill her.

She chose this, she knew it. She is dying.
