Nightshade, Jones, and Nightshade

"I'm heading for America," the Bad Wolf told Martha as they went, taking the Vortex Manipulator. "Where are you going?"

Martha stopped, staring at her. "You're not coming with me?" she asked.

The Bad Wolf stopped, shaking her head. "We both have what the Doctor told us to do," she said. "I have to find the Archangel Network. I'm heading to STARK Industries. Whatever you have to do, Martha . . . " She sighed. "I'm sorry, but I can't help."

Martha stared at her. "But - "

"You can do it, Martha," the Bad Wolf told her with a smile. "I can't help you, but you'll find your way."

Martha swallowed, nodding. "Good luck with what you have to do, then."

The Bad Wolf smiled, then teleported away.

Martha stared at where her best friend once stood, taking a shaky breath.

"She's right, you know."

Martha spun around, wondering where the voice was, instantly on her guard, when she saw who it was.

And her jaw dropped in astonishment.

Jack hung from where he was now chained when two familiar people stepped into the room. He grimaced. "Come to gloat, Agent Coulson? Agent Simmons?"

"When did you start traveling with him?" Coulson asked. "And took Agents Romanoff and Barton with you?"

"Only recently," Jack replied. "Saw the year one hundred trillion. Got the best scare of my life. Met a professor that regenerated into the bleeding Prime Minister, and here we are today."

Jemma glared at him. "What did the Master mean? What did that blonde say to him?"

Jack smiled at her. "Nat was right. You never tried to find out the whole story before you tried to find the Doctor. Did you?"

"We know that Jessie, Skye, and Saleen were on the list of the dead from Canary Wharf," Coulson told him. "We know enough."

"No, you don't." Jack laughed. "I was stupid. I didn't try to find out, either. And when we were at Utopia - not a bad place, except for the Futurekind - I got the best surprise of my life."

"Oh?" Jemma asked, folding her arms. "What was that?"

He grinned at her. "The three of them are still alive."

Jemma's face drained of all color, and Coulson stepped forward. "What do you mean, still alive?" he demanded.

"Saleen came from a parallel world to fight, didn't she?" Jack asked. "She could've easily gone back. She did. And she took Skye with her. They're safe and sound."

Coulson closed his eyes, and Jemma looked at Jack. "And Jessie?" she asked hesitantly.

"Still traveling with the Doctor," Jack replied. "She got a bit of a makeover, though. Doesn't look or sound anything like she used to."

Jemma's eyes widened. "The blonde."

Jack nodded. "Yeah. That's her."

"How did that happen?" Coulson demanded, crouching down.

"The TARDIS happened," Jack replied, thinking back to what Jessie had told him. "Jessie's skull caved in after they closed the Void, and Jessie hit the wall the Void was coming from. She died instantly. There was nothing the Doctor could've done. Except the TARDIS was changing her DNA the entire time after she opened the heart of the TARDIS. The TARDIS changed her human DNA to that of a Time Lady. She regenerated into our lovely blonde friend who succeeded in making the Master terrified of her. She goes by the Bad Wolf now. Not Jessie."

Jemma shook her head. "Stark and Bruce knew," she whispered. "And they didn't tell us."

"Maybe she didn't want you to know," Jack suggested.

"But why?" she shouted, pacing, tears in her eyes. "How could she not trust us?"

"Says the one who was dead set on killing the man she loves when they automatically took one look at the casualties list and called her 'dead,'" Jack retorted.

Jemma glared at him. "You didn't know either," she countered.

"I was running Torchwood, working on the Rift. I didn't want to kill him." Jemma didn't answer, and Jack sighed. "As much as you might not like it, the Doctor is our only hope of getting off of this hell. Whatever he told Jessie and Martha to do, we have to trust that he knows what he's doing."

"We hope," Coulson muttered.

Jessie appeared in the top level of STARK Tower, and she quickly ran through the rubble as the spheres flew around. "Tony!" she called, coughing on the rock dust. "Bruce! Pepper!"

"Jessie!" came a hoarse call.

She ran that way to see Tony and Bruce hiding in a small alcove area, Pepper tucked between them, protecting their heads. She dropped by them and took their arms. "I need your help," she breathed. "I can help keep us protected, but I need it desperately. The Doctor's in trouble, and the Master has SHIELD."

"Who?" Tony asked.

"He's called the Master, Saxon," Jessie explained in a hurry. "He's a Time Lord, like the Doctor, except he's mad. The Doctor's trapped, along with Nat, Clint, Jack, and the SHIELD team. Martha and I got away. She's got her own job to do. I need your help with mine."

"What do you need?" Bruce asked.

Jessie took a deep breath. "I need help hacking into and later destroying the Archangel Network."

The petite brunette young woman - girl, almost - smiled at Martha from where she stood a few feet away, wiggling her fingers in a little wave. "Hello!"

Martha closed her mouth again, swallowing and looking her over. The girl was wearing a ragged white long-sleeved shirt with a thin cardigan-like vest over it that draped to her knees. Her black jeans were torn in several places, and the only part of her clothes that looked sturdy were the black boots she wore. Her hair was a ragged mess of tangles, but she didn't seem to care. But her eyes were a mixture of brown and shining gold, and her skin had some healthy glow to it that didn't seem . . . normal. "How did you get there?" Martha finally managed to say.

"I don't know," she admitted cheerfully, looking up. Her eyes narrowed as she saw the Valiant, and the spheres soaring past. "Oh. That's why."

"What?" Martha asked, looking up.

"Oh, dear," she sighed. She folded her arms and looked at Martha. "You see, there are some specific points in time and space that stick out like a sore thumb. If it gets too bad, I personally help correct them." Her gaze hardened. "This is one of them."

"You're talking like you're its personal guardian."

"Well, in a way, I am."

"Right."

The girl stepped forward so she was eye to eye with Martha. "Believe me, Martha Jones. This is wrong on so many levels. I see all of time and space, and this is wrong. Period. I'd like to correct it. And I want the Master stopped. You can see me. No one else can. If you would like someone to help you, or even just accompany you, I can do that. I promise. And I never break my promises."

Martha took one look in her eyes, eyes that were so old, but so young, and she nodded. "Right. Let's go save the world." They began to walk, the girl never taking her eyes off of the sky, and Martha looked at her one more time. "Who are you, by the way? You never told me your name."

The girl frowned. "I think this is . . . Vertigo. No, wait." She shook her head. "Sorry. No. That's wrong." She brightened. "Oh, I know!" She held out a hand with a grin. "Jessie Nightshade. I'm the Bad Wolf."

*grins goofily* How many people were expecting that at the end? :P I'm sorry, I couldn't help it. If Bad Wolf could extend backwards to lead them to the Game Station, and appeared again in "Turn Left," why couldn't there have just been something even more in between to guide them again? And this time . . . we get the actual girl with it. Welcome back, Isabelle Fuhrman! :)

"Last of the Time Lords" is in progress! So, stay tuned!
