Chapter 7: Problems & Threat
Estella's POV:
"It's a work of art." I finally say.
He nods at that and we head inside. Since he owns the place he doesn't wait at the reception area and goes to the 1st floor. There is a table for six at the window side and I see an older version of my boss and a lady with him, which I assume is his wife, taking at the position they are in. As soon as they spot their son, they get up from their place and hug him.
Both of them are shocked to see me, "Estella... The lady says as if unable to believe it is me."
I nod, "That would be me. It is an honor to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony." I say politely.
"H-How?" That is all she can ask.
"Long story short, Estella, has amnesia, and by the looks of it a severe one, due to which she doesn't remember anything." My boss completes for me.
I take a seat with the view of the outside on my right side. In front of me is Mrs. Anthony and she looks at me as if seeing me for the first time in ages? I just look out of the window to avoid an awkward conversation.
I don't know why but none of these people seem similar to me. Except for my boss. For some reason, even though, I hate him still I want to recognize him.
After a little while, since I was lost in my thoughts I don't hear my boss call me, "Estella!" He says a bit loudly, making me suddenly jerk.
I look at him surprised, "I was asking what you want to order?"
"As I said earlier, I'm not hungry." I shrug.
He glares at me, "Estella, stop getting on my nerves. If you don't want to tell me what you want to eat fine, I will order for you."
It's my turn to glare at him, "You don't own the right to do whatever pleases you. I am a living, breathing human being. I am not a dog that you can bark orders at and I will simply follow!" I get up from my seat and get the hell out of there.
He's hot on my tail but I still manage to dodge him. I don't want to seem weak to him, not anymore. Reaching the hotel where I am staying at I see there is a huge crowd gathered. Making me surprised. Avoiding the ruckus I head to my floor, only to see it has been sealed.
A police officer spots me, and comes over, "Are you, Estella Ray?"
I nodded, numbly, not liking where this is going, he clears his throat, "I'm sorry Ms. Ray. Someone seems to despise you as your room is destroyed and there is blood everywhere. I will request you to not step inside the room."
"B-Blood?" Shocked to know.
He nods, "Yes, no one was injured but it seems like someone did it to warn you. Do you have any exes that may have done this?" He further interrogates.
I just need a moment to get everything together... This is all a lot to take in. In just one day. I feel someone put their hands around my shoulders, giving me the support, I need.
I stiffen for a moment but when the clone enters my senses and registers in my mind and for some reason my body relaxes on its own accord, "Officer, I respect you're doing your work but gives her some space." He says it with no space for argument.
He kisses my head gently and takes me to sit down on a couch on another floor that I don't even notice when we arrived.
"Little Star, are you okay?" I stare at him and clearly the concern radiating in his eyes.
"I-I, no, no I am not." I finally say.
"I understand. Don't worry. I will figure out who it was. Don't' worry about a thing." Zachariah says with a promise in his voice.
"I don't get it... I never hurt anyone but still..."
"Little Star, there are people who will hate with no reason at all. Just leave it to me."
"I'm sorry for walking out like that, Zachariah." I feel ashamed of my actions.
"It's understandable taking in all of it at once. It will get better from here on. Now tell me the reason why you didn't want to eat anything?" He asks coaxing me to tell him.
"I just had a lot on my mind going on and just didn't feel hungry. Whenever I try to eat and am not hungry the result is normally me throwing up after no more than 15 minutes." I say honestly.
He nods and takes my hands in his, that's when I notice he's crouched down in front of me in his very expensive suit, my eyes widen at that, "Please get up! I hadn't noticed that you were sitting in front of me, more like kneeling in front of me."
He smirks at my remarks but makes no effort to get up from the position he's in. I finally huff and make him let go of his hands and settle on the floor. He looks a bit taken back, but only shakes his head at my childishness.
"Have you went to a doctor in regards to your condition?" He asks.
"No..." I sigh.
"Why not? Doesn't your family care at all about you?" Now he's angry, I can easily tell by storm that is brewing in his eyes and the way his voice changed.
"This may sound stupid, but I didn't want to burden them more than I already had. I found quite some time ago that I am not related to them, at all. This is further the reason that I opted to seek a job in the country that I was born in so that I may find out who I am and maybe continue what I had started in the first place. Instead of being a burden to someone else."
"Did anyone make you feel like you were a burden?" He asks, now anger clear in his voice.
"No... Not at all. I just knew it was time for me to find out who I am. Maybe in the process of it all even find someone related to me, and just feel connected. I know it's weird for me to have such feelings." He shakes his head immediately at that. "No, it's not a strange/weird feeling. I do want you to know that my sister and you are very close. She's your sister first then mine. I won't say anything else. As those memories you both created are something that you will either remember or can create more."
My eyes widen at that small info, so that's why he was so adamant for me to work with him because it would create more opportunities for me to meet his sister.
"Now you stay put and I will see as to what happened on your floor. After this mess is sorted out, I am going to take you to a doctor to have you tested as to why your appetite disappears."
Before I can even try to protest, he glares at me effectively, shutting me up.
Zachariah's POV:
I knew the moment she would read the contents of the contract I drafted she would hate me. But I am willing to take her hatred rather than not seeing her at all. Even if that meant becoming the bad person and blackmailing her to stay. I never want my sister to go through the suffering she has had.
However, I didn't expect her reaction when she stood me up in front of my parents. My mother tried to converse with her which made my anger flare when she didn't even bother to answer her. So when I finally called her name out, her reaction was unexpected. I wasn't expecting her to truly space out like that.
What she didn't know that I had hired security for her, the moment I forced her to accept the job. He already had informed me, that something really gruesome happened back at where she is staying. What I wasn't expecting was someone actually painted her room in blood.
Shit... This is more than what the officer had said. It's a good thing he didn't allow her to enter this room. It's not useable in any sense of the word.
"Mr. Anthony, we have this pinned to the mirror in the bathroom." The officer said.
I nodded and took the paper, and it read which made my blood boil,
Remember this is my first warning. You took away the one I love, I will tear all that you have ever come to love... You don't deserve to live.
The hell anyone is going to put their rotten hands on her. Immediately, I dialed Edward's number, he picked it up in a second, "Bro, you won't believe who I saw today!"
"I know Edward. I have her working with me. I need you to send your team over to our hotel, immediately." I say, instantly knowing who he's referring to.
There's a pause, "What happened? Is Anna alright?"
"Yes, Anna is fine. Someone is threatening, Estella. I want all the details and protection on her. Her safety is important to me." I reply.
"I'm coming over as well. Has Estella not recognized you and especially Anna? She was everything to her?"
"There's a lot that's happened. I think if you come over." With that, I cut the call knowing he's already on his way. I dismiss the officers.
Then remembering her appetite problem, I call our family doc over to have a checkup on her.
I go to my penthouse, to her, and see she's still in the same place I left only she took her heels off and is now asleep cuddled on the couch. That's when I notice there is slight swelling on her left ankle. I curse when I see that. She had been walking with the same pain, yet she never let anyone notice it. In many ways, she is still the same, stubborn.
The doctor arrives, and I tell her to wait in the lounge, sitting on a stool in front of her, gently shake her, she rubs her eye, still drowsy, "Little Star, the doctor is here."
She nods, sits up, and starts to get up but I don't allow her, "Don't even try." The final word comes out harder than I intended.
This girl is really careless. That's saying something considering my sister can top off anyone in being careless. I call the doctor in and have her ankle looked over first. She says with rest and ointment she would be okay in a day or two. As for her appetite, she asks her some questions but looks at me in regards to her diagnosis and I know it's something that Estella doesn't need to know at the moment.
I lead the doc outside, and at the entrance, she stops, "Estella, is fighting a battle with anxiety and depression. The feeling of not remembering and thinking she's missing out on a lot is causing her stress. When I asked her simple questions and didn't have definite replies, she had a slightly hard time breathing. I want you to bring her to my clinic so I can full tests before I prescribe anything."
I nod at that and make the arrangements. As soon as the doc leaves, Ed and Anna arrive.
"Do you think Estella wants to see me?" Anna asks with slight hesitation. Edward side hugs her, immediately not bothering to hide his feelings in front of me.
