2 Did that really happen?
"Oh my god! Oh my fucking God! Did that really just happen?" squealed Hannah next to me as I was still trying to process it myself.
"Um... yeah... it looks like it did. And it looks like I'm going to have to come to the show right?" I replied still slightly shocked.
"Well duh! Of course! Let's go shopping. You need the best outfit we can find. Then you can impress two men right away." she said.
Oh yeah... The guy she wanted to set me up with. I had completely forgotten about that from one second to the next. I mean, it was more than unlikely that Roman would even see me in the mass of people, let alone really want to meet with me, but it certainly could not hurt to be prepared.
Hannah took me by the hand and practically dragged me behind her out of the coffee shop and into the next store. She headed straight for a rack of dresses. I could only shake my head and roll my eyes. This was going to take a while. But I had to admit that it was a lot of fun to see her so excited.
----
A few hours later we met up with a group of friends in front of the arena where the show was going to take place. Hannah was looking around the whole time. And I could tell that she was getting annoyed. Because there was no sign of Zane. If there was one thing we both absolutely hated, it was being late.
We were already pretty far ahead in the line when he finally came up to us.
"What took you so long, you idiot?" she asked him immediately.
"Relax. I got stuck in traffic. And this is Cassia I assume?" he replied and before that could be confirmed he went straight in for a hug.
"I... um, yeah... I'm Cassia. Zane, I guess?" I asked irritated, not even thinking to return a stranger's hug.
I didn't usually act like this, but the vibe I was getting from the guy was anything but positive. And thus my good mood went down the drain. That could get interesting.
When we finally got into the arena and to our seats, he talked at me without taking a breath. But it wasn't like he was trying to get to know me or anything. No, much more he talked about everything that came into his head. How bad the game was yesterday, how annoyed he was with his mother, and then he told me in great detail all about his cat's kidney stones.
I breathed a sigh of relief when the show started. The lights and the music changed. This way it was easy to ignore him. At times it was so loud that I couldn't hear him anyway. Not that I missed much. And I couldn't bring myself to answer him, because he still hadn't asked me a single question.
Hannah saw my look and swapped places with him without further ado. Although he looked at her questioningly, he said nothing in response.
"I'm so sorry. At least now you can focus on other things." she said as she tilted her head in my direction so I could understand her despite the noise.
And that was exactly what I did. I gave my attention to the performers in the ring and the videos that were shown on the big screen. The time flew by. But still I was a little disappointed that nothing of the infamous Roman Reigns was to be seen.
But not even 5 minutes later a new music started to play. A mixture of boos and cheers went through the audience. Immediately Hannah nudged me in the ribs with her elbow. And then he was there.
And damn did he look fine. His eyes wandered through the rows of people. But I was probably too far away for him to see me. Besides, I wasn't sure if he would even recognize me. I mean, our encounter had only lasted about a minute.
I watched his match spellbound and suffered every second of it. I had no idea how the men and women did it. That had to hurt! I would never have been able to do what they did every day.
All too soon it was over. Roman was victorious. He proudly raised his arms to celebrate his win. And with that, the show came to an end. Slowly we made our way out. It took a while because everyone wanted to leave the arena at once.
"Excuse me, Miss!" I suddenly heard and then someone tapped me on the shoulder.
I turned around, slightly startled, and saw that it was one of the security guys.
"Yes?" I replied.
"I have been asked to give you something. However, you have to answer a question for me first." he explained to me.
"Um okay..." I said hesitantly.
"What did you spill at the coffee shop today?" he wanted to know.
"An iced coffee. I spilled it on.... Oh!" I replied as I realized what just happened here.
"Here. This is for you!" he said, handing me a small folded piece of paper.
I unfolded it and read the words that were written there.
I guess you owe me a drink. Meet me at the Eve at 11:00 pm. x R
