Chapter 68 - Bryan

Bryan's POV

"You can take that to the kitchen," Aerial instructs, ushering Jesse and Chase in the opposite direction of the kitchen, while waving Diego and I towards it. "Mason and Justin are just preparing dinner."

Chase blows Diego a kiss, who blows him one back and Jesse tries and fails to wink at me before giving up and making a heart with his hands. I chuckle and make a heart back.

On the drive here, Jesse told Chase about his day with Shawn after Chase finished recounting his interview for Jesse. Chase then spent the rest of the drive cuddling with Diego, who kept whispering things to Chase that made him smile, while Jesse wanted to play some games to pass the time. So of course I obliged, and it actually turned out to be a really fun drive.

Once we arrived at Mason's house, we were introduced to Chloe and I met Aerial and Amy before we were sent to the kitchen to drop off the wine which Diego and I brought.

"I really thought we'd have until after dinner to be left alone with Mason and Justin," he whispers, as both of us stand outside the kitchen door.

"Me too," I admit. "But you've met Mason before and he was nice?"

Diego nods. "He was, but isn't Justin the harder one to win over?"

"Jesse said he'll probably give us a hard time initially but he knows that he'll like us."

He pouts. "But I've already had my fair share of difficult siblings," Diego whines and I release a soft chuckle, remembering how over protective Jesse was in the beginning. "Oh," he murmurs, turning towards me and I raise an eyebrow in response. "Chase said that he still wants to go to the benefit, but if he changes his mind-"

I interrupt him, already knowing what he is going to ask. Diego's team is heavily involved in the planning of the event, so Diego should be attending. "You don't have to go. It's close to the date of Chase's trial, so of course helping and supporting him however he needs should come first."

He pats my back, and flashes me an appreciative smile. "Rock, paper scissors to see who has to enter first?"

"What are you, a child?" I ask, rolling my eyes. Nonetheless, I comply and as luck would have it, I end up losing. I roll my eyes again and turn the door knob.

The two tall blonde guys, one with the same blueish grey eyes as the twin and the other with dark brown eyes, both halt what they're doing to stare at me. The one with the dark brown eyes flashes me a warm smile. "You must be Bryan! I'm Mason, nice to meet you." He walks over and shakes my hand before embracing Diego in a quick hug. "Nice to see you again, Diego!"

Diego grins and greets him and I can't help the pang of jealousy that overcomes me when he gets a hug and I don't. It's not that I wanted a hug, I just think that I should get a hug if Diego got one. Not to mention, the clear excitement in Mason's voice when he greeted Diego. Sure he sounded excited to meet me, but not as excited.

"And this is Justin." Mason beckons to Justin, pulling me from my petty thoughts.

Justin saunters over to us, his gaze scrutinising, like an appraiser trying to decide how much a painting is worth. "Nice to meet you, I've heard a lot about both of you."

"Good things I hope," I reply with a chuckle.

Mason releases a light laugh and agrees, while Justin barely cracks a smile. I suppress a sigh, well this is going great. "We brought you this," I say, holding up the gift bag containing the two bottles of wine from Diego and I.

"Thank you!" Mason takes the gift bag before returning to the stove.

"Jesse and Chase tell me you are the CEO of a company and you're head of Public Relations," Justin comments, leaning against the wall. He gives off the vibe like he would have been one of those cool kids that everyone hated but secretly wanted to be in school. "Has it been difficult dating with your demanding jobs?"

I hear Diego mutter under his breath, "is this an interview?" I'm barely able to keep my composure upon hearing that.

"It's hard sometimes," I start, "but I now work at the same complex as Jesse so that makes seeing him a bit easier. We both try to make time for each other, since Jesse's job is also demanding."

Justin nods and his lips curve up a little at the sides. I feel like fist humping just from that tiny response, but I somehow manage to contain my excitement.

His gaze drifts to Diego who rubs the back of his neck awkwardly before replying. "I can work from home fairly often, since I have such a great boss." He gestures to me and a wide smile lights up my face. "Chase and I always video chat or voice call if we aren't able to meet in person."

"Would you really be okay if Jesse never wants to get married?" Justin asks nonchalantly, like he didn't just drop a bomb on me, after smiling a little at Diego's response.

"Justin!" Mason says in a scolding manner. "Don't ambush him!"

Justin shrugs. "Jesse was ambushed the first time meeting Bryan's parents so it's only fair."

Mason rolls his eyes and continues scolding him. "Jesse said it wasn't a big deal and he wasn't upset about it." He turns to me and smiles. "Don't answer him, he's just being irritating and petty."

"It's okay, I'll answer," I reply with a smile. I've actually been thinking about it and even though I have always thought that I'd get married, I want to spend the rest of my life with Jesse, marriage or not, I know just how crazy we are about each other. "I wouldn't mind if we never get married, as long as we're together, I'd be happy. We'd be happy."

I can feel my face making that lovestruck, goofy smile that I always make when talking about Jesse, but I literally can't stop it. When I finally stop thinking about how perfect Jesse is and refocus on Justin and Mason, they're both grinning. I instantly feel my excitement bubbling, because it definitely seems like they like me!

Justin shifts his attention to Diego and I swear I see Diego gulp. "You don't have to answer, but I have a question." When Diego nods, Justin continues. "Chase and Jesse messaged about the update they got on the case. Are you planning on attending the trial?"

"We haven't talked about it yet, but I'd like to be there to support Chase, if wants me there," he replies.

"Wouldn't it be painful for you to attend and hear everything again?"

Diego releases a long breath and nods. "Yes, but I'll hear it a thousand times, if it makes it even a little bit easier for Chase." His voice is quiet, but his sincerity is dripping from every word.

I pat Diego's back and he gives me a sad smile.

"That's sweet, but you have to take care of yourself too. The last thing Chase would want is to hurt you." Diego nods in response to Justin's statement and I give his shoulder a squeeze, silently letting him know that everything will be alright.

A soft smile graces Justin's face, as he continues and there is now no doubt that he approves of us. "Thank you both for looking after our brothers. They seriously talk about you two all the time and are always sending photos. I'm really happy we were finally able to meet you."

"I'm glad we got to meet you too!" I exclaim, grinning from ear to ear and Diego agrees.

"Can we see our boyfriends now?" Jesse suddenly yells from another room and I hear Chase replying that it's rude to interrupt.

Justin rolls his eyes and releases a soft laugh before opening the door. A few seconds later, Jesse rushes into the room, followed by a giggling Chase, who immediately snuggles into Diego's waiting arms.

Jesse pokes my side, startling me, but when I look down and find his lips puckered and eyes closed, I immediately forgive him and wrap him in my arms before pecking his lips. "Were they mean to you?" He asks, shifting to glare at Justin, who bursts out laughing and raises his hands in surrender.

Maybe a little, I answer in my mind, but I'm just glad that we seem to have gotten the difficult part out of the way. "Thank you for letting me meet them," I reply and peck his lips again.

"The food is ready," Mason announces, handing a dish to Justin.

We help carry the dishes to the dining room and set the table before we sit down to eat. The dinner is delicious and the conversation flows naturally, from the twin's childhood lives to the latest football game.

Diego and I even get to see some photos of Jesse and Chase from their childhood. Flushed cheeks and messy hair seems to have always been Jesse's hallmark.

My favourite photo of Jesse is one of him as a teenager, where he's grinning and showing off his braces, and standing in a superman pose. We exchange numbers with Mason and Justin before we leave and promise to hang out with them again.

Diego drives us back, since both Jesse and I have a glass or two of wine during dinner. He and Chase are both in good spirits the entire way back, no longer focusing on the upcoming trial.
