Chapter 48 - Bryan

Bryan's POV

What have I done! I've ruined Diego's confession. He put so much thought and effort into it and I just blurted out that he's in love with Chase. Why did I ask that question? I should have just kept my mouth shut.

"I'm so jealous! You got to witness part of Chase and Diego's confession!" Jesse's voice interrupts my thoughts and I refocus on him. His lips form the most adorable pout, as he sits cross legged on the couch in front of me.

"Diego might murder me and that's what you took from what I told you!" I say in an exasperated voice.

Jesse rolls his eyes and continues to pout. "You're overreacting, Diego won't be mad. But I will never get to witness their confession!"

I shake my head furiously and whisper shout, "I'm not overreacting!" My tomato rolls his eyes again, completely unconvinced by my words. Okay, I know I'm overreacting, but I feel awful for ruining Diego's plans.

"It was perfectly planned and I ruined it," I wail, reaching out and to hold Jesse's hands. "If Diego murders me, just know that I," I pause and stare into his gorgeous, blueish grey orbs and sniffle. "I am the sexiest man you have ever dated." My hand moves to my eye to wipe away a fake tear, as I try not to laugh.

My boyfriend bursts out laughing and that's enough to break my composure. "Oh! You're laughing!" I exclaim, lunging towards him with outstretched fingers to tickle him.

"Bad Vampy!" Jesse chokes out between laughs. He squirms under me trying to reciprocate my tickles, but I very easily pin his arms above his head and continue my attack. "Okay! Okay! You're the sexiest man I've ever dated!" He yells, wriggling under me like a fish out of water.

I stop my tickle onslaught and gaze at my flustered boyfriend. His messy blonde hair is sprawled over the cushion and his cheeks are the red colour of a firetruck. Tiny wrinkle lines form at the corners of his eyes from his musical laugh and his eyes twinkle with joy. He is absolutely breathtaking.

Keeping his arms pinned above his head, I slowly move towards his lips. Jesse's laughter subsides and he whispers, "you really are." He bites his bottom lip and tries to pull himself up so that he can reach my lips. I smirk and move my mouth a little closer, but still out of his reach.

"Bryaaaan," Jesse whines, trying again to reach my mouth. Unable to resist him for too long, I capture his lips with mine. My free hand slowly glides down his chest, causing him to release those sweet moans that I love so much.

I pull away and release him when my phone starts to ring and Jesse whines in protest. The caller ID alerts me that it's my mother and I frown. She almost never calls twice in one day and I spoke to her a few hours ago. "I'll be right back," I tell my tomato after giving him a quick kiss.

I sit on Jesse's bed and answer my mother's video call, and she immediately starts talking. "I'm just calling to- Oh my goodness!! Are you in your boyfriend's room? You look a little flustered. Oh my goodness! You were having sex!"

Why does she hate me? I groan and squeeze my eyes shut. "Mom please! And I was not having sex!"

"Pssh, whatever you say. Is Jesse still coming over for lunch next weekend?" She inquires and a soft smile graces her face.

"Unfortunately, yes. He's really excited to meet you," I respond sulkily.

Every time I've spoken to or seen Jesse for the past week, he has asked about meeting my mother. I finally got tired of him pestering me and decided to stop delaying their meeting. In hindsight, I realized that I played right into my devil tomato's hand and this was exactly what he wanted.

My mother's smile widens. "I'm happy he wants to meet me! You never let me meet anyone you date!" I roll my eyes and she laughs before continuing. "I want to cook him his favourite dish, so can you ask him what it is?"

"Lasagne," I immediately reply and my mother's face lights up.

"You didn't even have to think about it!" She coos and I roll my eyes again. "How is Diego? I called him a few minutes before calling you but he didn't answer. And he hasn't come by for lunch or dinner recently," she says after a brief pause.

I chuckle, realizing the main reason she called. My mom thinks of Diego as her other son, so when she doesn't hear from him in more than a week, she calls me to find out how he's doing. "Diego is doing great! He's busy with his boyfriend, that's all."

"Boyfriend! That's wonderful! Now both my boys are dating!" She exclaims with a huge grin. "You know I was worried that he wouldn't date again after his last relationship, but I'm glad he put himself back out there. Are they a good match for him? Do they treat him well? Who's he dating?"

Maybe I shouldn't have told her that Diego was dating because now I'm sure she'll pester him for an introduction. Wow, I really am being a terrible friend to Diego today.

Nevertheless, I smile at the look of expectation on my mother's face. "He's perfect for Diego and they both already know each other so well. They both have stary, lovestruck eyes when looking at each other-" I stop when I feel a clap on my back and turn to find Diego grinning as he sits on the bed next to me.

"Hi Esmée! Aren't you looking beautiful today," Diego chirps with a bright smile.

My mother grins at Diego's compliment before gasping. "Bryan, I thought you were dating Jesse! Why are you with Diego? Are you two dating-"

I sigh and roll my eyes. "Mom." I try to interject but she ignores me and proceeds with her questions while Diego chuckles.

"Oh my goodness! Are you dating the same guy? Is it a throuple?" My mother pauses to take a breath.

I jump in before she rattles on. "No. Diego and I are not dating. I'm dating Jesse and Diego is dating Jesse's twin brother, Chase. The twins currently live together which is why we're both here."

"Ah okay! Identical twins?" She inquires.

I shake my head. "No fraternal. They look nothing alike," I muse.

"Does that mean I get to meet both of them next weekend?" She asks, turning her hopeful gaze towards Diego.

He smiles sheepishly but shakes his head. "I'm sorry Esmée, I'm not ready for you to meet him yet."

My mother sighs. "Why are both my boys so difficult?" Diego and I both chuckle at her exasperated tone. "Whenever you're ready I'd love to meet him. Drop by for some food soon Diego, we miss seeing you around."

"I'll come by next week for lunch. I'll call you the day before I'm coming," Diego replies and my mother smiles approvingly.

"See you next weekend, mom. Try not to be too embarrassing," I say and my mom laughs before tsking and hanging up.

I toss the phone on the bed and turn to face Diego. "I'm so sorry! I didn't know Chase was awake. I-"

Diego's chuckle interrupts me. "Don't sweat it. I'll still take him on the date I planned, just not today. But I'm actually really glad with the way everything turned out. If I confessed first, I don't think I would have gotten to see my confident little lamb who reassures me and demands kisses, because I would definitely have kissed him after my confession, once he seemed receptive."

"So you're not mad? I question and Diego shakes his head.

"I feel like a weight has been lifted off me. I didn't realize how much I needed to hear Chase say that he loves me. Somewhere deep down, I thought that he did, but I always feared that he would never gather the courage to say it out loud," he says with a soft smile.

I hum a response, reaching out to gently pat his back. We sit in silence for a minute before something dawns on me. "Shit Diego! I completely forgot! Why didn't you remind me what next weekend was! I'll postpone dinner with Jesse and my parents!" I exclaim and Diego smiles.

"No, don't. I'm okay. I'll be okay," he replies. "I'll spend next weekend with Chase. Hopefully he'll be feeling okay and we can go out and do something. If not, we'll just cuddle at home."

"Are you going to tell him that it's the death anniversary of both your sister and father?" I inquire.

Diego's sister died first, then a year later, on the same day, his father died. Every year, no matter what else was going on in my life, I would spend the day with Diego. We would usually visit their graves in the morning, so that Diego could mourn, then do something fun, like rock climbing, to distract him. This is the first time I've ever forgotten.

"No. I don't want to upset him. He already has enough on his mind. And it's been about six years since my dad died and seven since my sister died, I'll be okay," he replies, but I can hear a hint of pain in his voice.

"That's it I'm cancelling," I say reaching for my phone.

Diego snatches it up before I can get to it. "Go introduce your boyfriend to your mom. Esmée might have an aneurism if you put off their meeting any longer." He chuckles lightly before continuing. "And Chase will keep me distracted, so I won't mope all day."

I narrow my eyes at him and he chuckles again. "Seriously, I'll be alright. Stop worrying!"

From the look on his face, I can tell that if I cancel, it will just irritate him. I sigh. "You should tell Chase then."

"I won't. I don't want to burden him. I just want him to be happy and spending time with him will be enough," Diego responds and I can see that he is dead set on not telling Chase.

However, I'm determined to let him see that telling Chase would be best. "You won't be burdening him. He'll be happy to be there for you, like you are for him. I think he'd actually be upset if he found out that you were hurting and didn't tell him."

"Do you really think he'll want to know?" Diego frowns and a look of uncertainty crosses his face.

I nod and give him a tiny smile. "Yes. But do you really think you can spend the entire day with him and pretend that you're not sad? Despite your family's problems, you were close to them, especially your sister. You should tell him because I think Chase knows you well enough to know if something is going on with you. He'll be hurt if you don't tell him beforehand."

Diego releases a long sigh before saying that he'll think about it. I sigh, realizing there's nothing more I can say to him at this point. We sit in silence until we hear a gentle knock on the door, causing us to glance towards it. The twins are standing in the doorway looking at us with bright smiles and I can't help but grin.

"Everything okay?" Chase asks, followed by a low rumbling of his stomach.

"Oh my gosh, Chase Junior! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to take so long! Let's get you the chicken parmesan pasta I promised." Diego rushes over to a giggling Chase and engulfs him in a hug before leading him out of the room.

Jesse approaches me, ignoring all the available seating in his room, and sits on my lap. I chuckle and peck his lips. "Shall we order food and chill in your room so that we can give Chase and Diego a little space?" I ask and Jesse smiles before nodding.
