Lucy skipped down the cobblestone street, Laxus, and Happy tagging along behind her. She had wanted to go bring Sting some homemade cookies because she felt guilty about him losing his battle against Laxus and Natsu. She knew he'd be in a lot of trouble...Lucy bit her lip, a troubled expression imprinted on her face. Laxus and Happy shared a look.

She suddenly picked up her pace, and Happy and Laxus watched her back disappear into the distance. Laxus sighed. He didn't want her to visit Sabertooth. He, for one, didn't want her seeing Sting, and he also knew what kind of man Jiemma was. Laxus was almost positive Sting and Rogue would get a beating, or a lecture if they were lucky. But...he knew Lucy would do something stupid if she stumbled into a scene like that. But, nevertheless, Laxus had reluctantly allowed her to visit him. He knew there was no way he was convincing Lucy. Kind-hearted, stubborn, gentle Lucy, into not checking up on one of her close friends.

Lucy sprinted up to Sabertooth's hotel, admiring the ivy and honeysuckle covered stone walls. She breathed in deeply, and quietly headed in. As soon as she walked in, she got a vile feeling in her stomach. She pushed onward, more determined to make sure everything was okay. She finally made it to the main area, and deftly hid behind a pillar when she saw the scene taking place. She quietly turned into her shadow form, not wanting to be spotted by the fuming Jiemma.

"Well, Sting, Rogue, what should I do with you?"

"...." Sting and Rogue were silent, their bodies were battered and wrapped in bandages. Their prides were broken, and they both sat there quietly. Sting stared at the floor. He couldn't believe he lost...He had wanted to win, so badly! Not only for Sabertooth...but for Lucy. He genuinely cared about her and didn't want her to be stuck in Fairy Tail after what they did to her. He knew she apparently 'forgave' them...but he knew better. He saw up close, how her expression turned into a frown whenever Natsu or any of the people who hurt her, names were mentioned. He begrudgingly admitted that she did, in fact, have great acting skills. She could force herself to forgive and forget, to move on...but scars don't just heal. They never fade...they're always there as a reminder. And Lucy had told him about how Natsu had confessed his love to her, even after everything he had done to her...she had for the first time in his life, looked upset, and in a lot of inner turmoil.

"No answer, huh?" Jiemma inquires sharply. Sting finally looked up from the ground. He glanced back at Lector. He just knew this was all going to turn out bad.

"I thought you were TRUE dragon slayers? You used to love reminding us. Always telling us, you're the epitome of strength. Isn't that right? So imagine my surprise, when you shamelessly got your asses handed to you by two other dragon slayers. What do you have to say for yourselves?"

"You spelled it out clearly...we were defeated. Natsu and Laxus were...somehow able to subdue us without using the full extent of their powers.....they possess strength far beyond what we imagined...They may be unbeatable..." Rogue muttered, clenching his fists. Sting stared at his partner, and unlike himself, said absolutely nothing. There was nothing to be said. Lucy had been right all along, hadn't she? Sabertooth really was an awful guild, wasn't it? Sting wished he would've taken Lucy's offer to join Fairy Tail.

Jiemma stood up, stomping his foot hard enough to create a giant crater in the floor. Lucy stared in shock from behind one of the giant marble pillars. She clenched her fists impatiently. She...she just knew something terrible was about to happen. She looked at Sting...and he looked defeated. She had never seen Sting look so hopeless...so tired.

"Those sound like the whinings of a weakling to me! Is that what I'm hearing?! Well?! I don't recall asking to hear your pitiful excuses, Rogue! And I never asked you to embarrass me like this!" Jiemma snarled.

"You've disgraced our name as the mightest guild!" Jiemma boomed, glowing a deep purple color. His magic energy pulsed through the air. He waved his arm and Sting and Rogue were both thrown back from the magic.

Rogue crashed into a wall, making it crumble into dust, and Sting slammed into the wall right next to Lucy's hiding place.

Sting fell to the ground pathetically, and he cried out in pain, but other than that laid there, his eyes clenched shut. Lucy watched him, her eyes starting to brim with tears.

'Sting...!' She screamed mentally. Jiemma started slamming both Sting and Rogue into the walls, once again. Sting choked up a dribble of blood, and it leaked from the corner of his gasping lips.

Frosch and Lector ran to their sides, screaming their names. Frosch, immediately crawled into Rogue's arms, crying with worry,

"I don't want to see your faces here again...Our guild has NO room for losers, that's how we remain strong..." Jiemma growled, glaring down at Sting, who was grimacing in extreme agony.

Lucy felt her body itching to move...but she knew she couldn't do anything. She didn't know if she could take Jiemma...and she also knew if she hurt him, Fairy Tail could get disqualified from the games...Lucy felt like screaming.

She had to help him! Sting was one of her closest friends! Someone who had been there for her, someone who had been her friend, when her world had nearly fallen apart! She just...she couldn't bear to see him in such a condition. The tears finally fell from her eyes and splattered onto her navy shirt.

"A-Aww come on Master! Sting and Rogue tried their best! I-Isn't that what matters the most?" Lector piped up, his body shaking with both nervousness and fear. Lucy froze...she knew what was going to happen, the minute she saw Jiemma's head snap to look at Lector.

Jiemma's eyes flashed, and Lucy felt her whole stomach flop in fear. She got ready to move...she didn't care if she got Fairy Tail disqualified...she couldn't just STAND here...Sting would do the same thing for her! He wouldn't just watch...he'd fight for her, damned the consequences!

"I know Sting lost...but that's okay! He still gave the fight his all, and I'm proud of him!"

"Lector..." Sting mumbled from his spot crumpled on the ground.

"If you want my opinion, you gotta lose sometimes, or you'd never grow as a person!" Lector said, making Sting's eyes cloud over with tears.

"This defeat gave Sting a chance to learn more about himself and his opponent! Why not just let it slide?"

"Who the hell are you?!" Jiemma asked, his voice menacing and gruff. Sting stared, wide-eyed as Jiemma approached the exceed, his hands already twitching with the need to fight.

"W-What do you mean, master? I'm a member! I even have the Saber crest to prove it," Lector chimed his voice full of anxiety. He pulled up the back of his shirt to show Jiemma the pinkish-red mark that adorned his back. A silence followed.

"This is a total abomination! Who defiled our guild's sacred crest by placing it on this mangy creature?!" Jiemma shouted, and glowed neon violet once again, his expression deadly. Lector's expression pulled down in panic and terror. Sting's legs scrambled to move. He knew what Jiemma was going to do! He tried but failed, as his knees buckled. He crashed onto the floor, his mouth open in a cry for Lector to run.

Lucy swiftly jumped out of her hiding place, dropping her shadow mode. She let go of the long-forgotten plate of homemade chocolate chip cookies she was holding. The plate fell, shattering on the floor next to Sting. Sting stared at Lucy, dumbfounded as to why she was there. Then he saw the cookies that had scattered around him.

Lucy sprinted as fast as she could, her body moving so fast all the naked eye could catch was a blurred shape. She planted her feet in front of Lector, her arms spread out in front of her. She knew there was no time for magic. She also knew she would be very badly damaged. But...saving Lector was worth it. She would do anything for Sting...and for Lector, or any of her friends. She would sooner die then let them be hurt. Seconds later, the huge white and purple blast came towards her. The tears from before were still there, now starting to dry, They made her face appear glossy, and almost made her cheeks glow.

Time seemed to slow down, as her eyes met Stings. Navy met brown and blue flecked orbs. Their eyes locked, and the world melted away. He openly stared at her, his eyes filled with emotions. Mostly shock and horror. While, hers were filled with fondness, happiness, and bravery. She didn't regret anything. She had gone through worse...As the blast engulfed her body, a blinding light blasted through the room. Sting covered his eyes, feeling utter despair pierce through him.

"Lucy!" He yelled in panic, she smiled, ignoring the pain. A teardrop running down her cheek was the only thing that betrayed her smile. She was in tremendous pain and felt as if someone had lit her entire body on fire. She collapsed onto the ground, landing on her back with a thump. She stared at the ceiling, and dark spots invoked her vision. Everything started to get hazy, and she welcomed the darkness. She...just was so tired...maybe a little nap would make her feel better. Her heartbeat slowed and was now barely there. Everyone in the room stared stupified.

"Fairy!" Jiemma spat, knowing Lucy as the girl who beat Minerva.

Lector ran to Sting in a fit of shock and fear. Sting immediately pushed Lector behind him. Sting was so angry, he couldn't even see straight. All he could see was red, and it clouded his vision, making him the angriest he had ever been. Was Lucy dead? He couldn't hear her breathing...He let out a broken roar, tears freely falling down his face.

"You better get out of here! Take the fairy and your mangy animal with you!" Jiemma snarled, not noticing the blood-lust and rage pulsing from the light dragon slayer.

Sting shakily stumbled to his feet, mumbling. Tears poured down his cheeks, like an overflowing faucet.

"What have you done?!" Sting screamed, staring at Lucy's burnt and bruised body. Her whole body was pale and had a clammy like look to it. She was scratched up and bleeding...Sting choked down another sob. He could tell from the plate of cookies that had shattered next to him, that she had come to see him...hadn't she? She was always too kind for her own good...the thought made him angrier. He couldn't protect her! This was all his fault...

"It was just a weakling Fairy...she's utter garbage...she didn't deserve to live!" Jiemma growled, noticing Sting's heartbroken appearance. Sting's eyes glow an unnerving blue, so menacing and hate-filled, that even Rogue had to hold back a shudder. Rogue stared in distress, his own tears building up in front of his deep red orbs. Lucy was his friend...and even more than that for Sting. He noticed Sting's glowing eyes and knew Jiemma was going to realize his mistake.

Sting roared, sounding inhuman. He charged up his fist, and everyone in the room's eyes widened at how much Sting's magical pressure had increased. Sting's hand was now swirling with dark, angry light, that bubbled and sparked. It was a dull gold, reminding Sting of Lucy's hair. He threw his glowing fist at Jiemma, who was off-guard. Sting's fist went straight through his stomach, and Jiemma stared with shock at the panting Sting who was silently crying rage-filled tears.

Jiemma crumpled to the ground, dead on impact. Blood seeped out of his body, and Sting stared down at him with hate and disgust. His eyes slowly faded back to normal. His ears then caught the sound of someone walking.

Laxus walked into the Sabertooth meeting room and stopped mid-step. His whole world seemed to freeze.

'No, no, no, no...this can't be happening...!' He thought to himself, racing towards the crumpled body of Lucy who was curled up on the ground in a heap.

"Lucy...!"
