BOOMIN' Out The Stereo System
Pico didn't know how long it took for him to figure out how to properly slither as a purple-black snake.
He just knew it annoyed him.
"We got to find help. Whoever that green bud is isn't going to last out there!" Girlfriend exclaimed with intense worry for the walking bud.
They had lost him or her by now, and Pico was getting frustrated.
Why should they be helping some stranger when they've got their own problems to deal with?
They needed to get back and if that nuisance was going to be, well, a nuisance, then they could find their own way back.
Pico held his gun with his snake tail.
At least he had his gun to pop anyone who tried to hurt his friends.
To be honest, he was deathly afraid of who or what they were going to find out here.
This world, wherever they were, surely couldn't be just all excepting of dimensional travelers. They'd think they were crazy!
Pico pushed his head through a bush. No one.
That walking plant was asking for trouble. Why were they even looking for them in the first place?
It's obvious they didn't care that we were right next to them. They obviously just want to get back, so why should we help them? Pico wondered as he tried to angle his uzi in the general direction he was looking.
Just in case.
Nothing was in this forest. Besides a bunch of dumb bugs.
A small orange bug came crawling over to Pico, humming to themselves.
Pico glared at the bug.
He wanted to smash it, but figured since this wasn't his world, this bug would probably kill him.
He didn't know how the creatures of this world existed. All he knew was this bug had a huge smile on its face. He wanted to rip it off the bug's face.
The strange orange bug with a white stinger finally went away, and Pico continued to searched the area.
He found nothing.
He also didn't try to hard since he didn't really care about the plant, but he was going to make an excuse since everything was green and it's hard to see anyone who could camouflage on the floor of a forest without even trying.
Pico sighed, wondering why they were even here in the first place.
They were better off exploring and getting to know the territory better.
They probably could use help.
No, there's no way any dumb creature in this shit place would want to help us. Plus, people are evil. We're better off finding our own way.
Pico began to slither back over to his friends, meeting up with them in a barren patch of earth with no greenery or rocks in the way.
"I don't suppose they're here. What do we do now? We have no way of getting back home." Girlfriend remarked as they met in the middle.
"We have to find help. Surely there's someone around here who can help us." Boyfriend suggested, staying optimistic.
Pico wanted to groan.
Being the most pessimistic person here, he knew they were doomed. No one would help them. They were definitely crazy, or worse, be claimed as witches of some sort. Something people or creatures shouldn't talk to.
"Yeah, I'm sure there's someone who's willing to help out!" Girlfriend agreed.
The two turned to Pico.
He was too busy thinking to react.
Boyfriend tapped him where his shoulder would be if he was human.
Pico nearly jumped out of his skin. Whatever skin snakes had.
"What?!" He demanded, a little more harsher than he intended.
Boyfriend shied away, looking at the ground.
"I was wondering what you think we should do. We should look for help, right? We don't know anything about this world. Someone in this world could help us, right?" Boyfriend asked him.
What was he trying to do by asking this?
Pico shrugged.
"I don't know if that's a safe idea, Boyfriend. We don't know who we can trust in this world. It's ridiculous to even trust anyone besides each other at this point. Whoever we ask to help us could easily lead us to our deaths." Pico informed him.
His gut wrenched at the idea of his friend being tricked. He could deal with the idea of betrayal himself, but he didn't want his friend to experience it. It would break his heart to see the little guy's face if it happened.
Boyfriend gazed at him pleadingly.
"Please, couldn't we at least try? We don't have to fully trust them, but getting help or trying to get help is better than being in this forest calling for whoever that sprout character was. Plus, we're lost. And I'm a little scared. What if it storms? Where will we go?" Boyfriend asked him.
It was so much to throw at him in one.
Pico glanced away.
"I don't know," he remarked, conflicted.
His head jerked up when he heard something. It was unusual.
It was the sounds of two Pokémon singing.
Curiosity got the better of him.
He never heard a voice sing quite beautifully like that before.
He heard Boyfriend sing, and even heard a few of his friends sing, but this was something else.
"Hey, do you hear that?" Pico asked them with genuine curiosity.
He thrusted his head in the general direction of the two voices.
They were both female, but obviously there was one that sung so sweetly and so pure...there were no words in Pico's vocabulary to describe it.
The other voice?
It complimented the other, but was less passionate and more rough around the edges.
Pico was curious.
Could it possibly be that Boyfriend isn't the only singer around here?
Of course it was a silly thought, but Pico was stunned to hear the voices in the dreary forest of all places.
Pico began to follow the voices, seeing some slight concern between Boyfriend and Girlfriend as they followed him.
Pico followed the song. He didn't recognize it, but it sounded nice. It was calming.
Pico stopped as he shoved through a bush filled with yellow berries.
The voices were way louder now, and a strange purple crow with a beak that looked bent was singing her heart out alongside a strange looking spiked rodent with black-and-white fur.
It was a sight.
Pico didn't want to interact with them, so he stayed hidden.
Unfortunately for him, Girlfriend was way more social and decided to walk out the bush, making it shake. It gave away their position.
Pico tried hiding even more within the bush.
He didn't trust these two Pokémon, but there was something lulling about one of their voices. He just didn't know which. They both looked oddly evil. Or at least the crow did.
Pico didn't want to judge either of them right away, but he didn't feel comfortable with either right now.
Boyfriend shrugged his shoulders, happily following his girlfriend to the two strange creatures.
"Hello!" Girlfriend greeted with a huge smile.
The strange black-and-white rodent gazed at her with suspicion as she avoided Girlfriend's eyes, glancing over at her friend. She didn't know what to do.
Pico's eyes widened.
There was something familiar about the way she acted. It reminded him of himself.
"Hi there! We haven't seen anyone like you around in the forest before. Are you new? Did you just move in?" The purple crow asked them in an overly friendly manner.
The way she acted reminded Pico of Boyfriend, but a little more energetic. Actually, way more. She was spinning around like a dancer.
She seemed to be smiling more than her friend too.
Her friend just shyly gazed at her friend while ignoring them.
Pico pushed his way out, hating the attention he was given by the crow. Her friend was still looking away, though she seemed slightly curious as to who came in.
He wanted to tell his friends to not leak they were from another world, but Boyfriend had other plans.
"Oh! We're not from this world!"
This seemed to shock the black-and-white rodent, but not the purple crow, who just nodded as if this was the norm for her.
"You mean...you're not from around this place?" The black-and-white rodent asked them.
Boyfriend thought this was funny.
"Yes, we're not from here. We're from a world where there's humans and no strange animals. Only strange demons".
Pico felt like Boyfriend was already sharing too much with these strange creatures, but what is said cannot be undone.
"Anyways, what's your name strangers? Do you even know what you are?" The crow asked them.
Pico stared at her like she was stupid as hell.
"Oh! I'm Boyfriend. That strange-looking cat over there is Girlfriend. And that big snake with the biggest snake teeth ever is Pico!" Boyfriend introduced, taking a step forward.
"Those are...odd names." The black-white rodent remarked with an questioning gaze. "Except Pico. That names okay I guess."
Her gaze was still anywhere but on them.
"Uhm, thanks?" Pico questioned, his deep voice shocking the black-and-white rodent a bit.
The rodent's face turned red.
"Uhhh, yeah." She remarked, not sure what to say.
Pico wasn't that shy. He just hated talking to people. Trust was worthless when it could be used against you.
But, he supposed this little shy ball of fluff could be worth trusting. Though, appearances could be deceiving.
She just didn't seem like the harmful type.
"Anyways, no, we don't know what we are. I mean I'm a snake. At least, I think so." Pico continued.
The sooner they got back to their world the better. Pico didn't know how much longer he could last around the purple crow.
She was too cheery for his taste.
Was this world just way more brighter than theirs? Sure his world was filled with demons and dark things, but it seemed overly ridiculous that this crow was being way too friendly and happy with them.
"Oh, you're a Seviper. Your friends are a Glameow,—which is an odd-looking cat I suppose, and an Smeargle. I don't know what a snake is, but yeah I suppose if you look like that creature you look like it. I only know about Pokémon, after all." The crow informed them.
An awkward silence filled the air before the crow continued.
"Oh yeah! I'm a Murkrow, and my shy friend is an Zigzagoon. Specifically, a Galarian Zigzagoon."
Pico gazed at her without any insight on what a Galarian is.
Pico realized he had a lot to learn.
Despite not wanting to be here, maybe it wasn't a bad idea to figure some of the quirks of this world out.
I can't believe I'm even thinking of worlds. I always thought those were fake. At least just as fake as it could get.
"So are those your names?" Girlfriend asked.
"Oh, no, no, no! My name is Nova! It's great to meet'Cha! My friend over here is called Snickers." The Murkrow introduced, bowing with a slight giggle.
Pico rolled his eyes.
This girl really rubbed off him the wrong way.
"Anyways, you said you were from another dimension? I can bring to a place that can help you find your way back. They've done it before. I've seen it. I can show you where they are if you like." Nova offered with an overjoyed expression.
What is this place now?
"Uhm, where?" Girlfriend asked.
Pico's gaze traveled to her back. He now realized she had a stereo on her back. He missed out on that in his panic of being turned into a Serviper.
Now that I think about it, why haven't they questioned that yet?
"A wonderful place." Nova informed them with sparkles in her eyes.
"Debatable." Pico stated, not impressed.
She glanced over at him in almost disgust before ignoring it all together.
"It's this place called the Starter Squad." She informed them, smile still intact.
"Starter Squad? What's a Starter Squad?" Boyfriend asked with his head tipped.
What is a Starter? Pico wondered.
