Chapter One.
I stood in front of the floor length mirror in my flat and straightened my bow tie, pulling down my sleeveless button down that had cats on. I adjusted my belt buckle, tightened the laces to my black high top converses and grabbed my fedora and round framed sunglasses, checking the pockets of my black skinny jeans for my keys, phone and wallet.
"Alright liz, be cool. You need this job" I muttered to myself before walking out of my tiny flat and down fifteen flights of stairs, jumping into my car and driving across Leeds to The Music Room.
I parked my tiny Volvo and locked it, walking into the music store.
"Hello!" Said a peppy store keeper.
"Hi...? I'm here for the interview as a bartender?" I asked nervously.
"Ah! Yes, come this way" she said, opening a door that revealed a staircase.
"Go down there and go to the managers office" she said, ushering me down the stairs and closing the door.
I slowly stepped down the stairs, pushing open a door at the bottom of them.
I was greeted by the smell of beer, sex, sweat and floor wax. There was a high stage against the back wall, all of which were painted black. The floor was a clean, dark wood. There was a bar against another wall and next to it was a door marked managers office.
There was a tap on my shoulder and I turned around to see a girl in a corset with high black heels. She was wearing copious amounts of eyeliner and had short black hair.
"Hey, honey, how can I help you?" She purred seductively, wrapping an arm around mine.
"I-I'm just looking for the owner of this place..." I said shakily.
"Oh," she said, snapping out of it. "He is through the door over there" She said, pointing towards the managers office.
"Thanks, erm..."
"Gee" she filled in for me.
"Right, Gee. See you around" I said, setting off towards the office.
I knocked tentatively and opened the door, ducking as a vase flew at my head.
"James, calm the FUCK down, the new bartender is here" said a man, trying to placate my attacker.
"No, Austin, I will not fucking calm down! That's the third one this month!"
"We can find more whores, it's not a big fucking deal!"
"No! I quit, sign all this shit over to her!" Roared 'James', pointing a long finger at me. Austin looked at me down his nose, before sighing and agreeing. James stormed out and slammed the door, leaving a heavy air of silence and awkwardness.
"Apologies for him. As he asked, you have a decision. Take this place on or let it close down"
"Ill do it" I said without a shadow of a doubt.
