*Three Months Later*
"Yoongi, this is possibly the coolest place I have ever been," Namjoon gushed as he walked into the venue for Yoongi's album launch.
It was a house on the outskirts of town overlooking a lake, and was already full of affluent and important people wearing suits and dresses, talking over the clatter and clanging of glasses. Yoongi was already sweating under the collar of his rental suit. Jimin gave his hand a small squeeze, and Yoongi managed to give him a small smile despite the churning of his stomach.
It was his album launch. He had worked like a dog for the past three months every day and night, and he had managed to meet his deadline.
"SUGA," his manager said, coming over to him, "And these must be your friends. Come, I have some people you need to speak to."
As he was dragged away, Jimin blew him a kiss which made his nerves calm slightly. He was already looking forward to going to bed that night, snuggling up to his boyfriend. Boyfriend. It was still a fun word for Yoongi to say.
He talked to various people, sipping on expensive (and not very nice) champagne, trying to keep up with the appearance of being someone a lot cooler than he was. Occasionally he would look around the room and see his friends dancing and he wished he could join them, but he knew that he had to make a good impression on the people around him.
Jimin would catch his eye every now and then, and Yoongi would blush as the younger rolled his hips or winked in his way. He saw his manager give him a few strange looks every now and then, but he ignored this and continued to do exactly as he was told.
As the night was drawing to a close, Yoongi was ready to loosen his tie and get into some pyjamas. His manager finally took him away from the party, and Yoongi was happy to drop the smile which had kept all night.
"What a night! Thanks for setting it up, I really appreciate it. It's so crazy to think I'm living my dream," Yoongi gushed as he poured himself a glass of whiskey, "Do you want one?"
"Why didn't you tell me you were gay?"
Yoongi nearly choked on his drink.
"You never asked," Yoongi replied, thinking that it was awfully weird small talk for his manager to be having with him.
"Yoongi, you don't understand. Tonight I had so many people coming up to me saying they were interested in working with you. As a label we're planning on sending you out to America-"
"Oh my God this is amazing! I can't wait to tell everyone. Jimin will be so excited to go to America," Yoongi started rambling, and his manager rolled his eyes before holding up his hand.
"Yoongi, rappers like you can't be gay!"
Yoongi stood in stunned silence for a minute. He looked up at his manager waiting for him to start laughing and tell him it all was all a joke. Of course Yoongi knew all about the homophobia in the rap community, he had been hiding from it for the whole of his rap career. But to be told it so bluntly from his manager... it made it all the more real.
"What are you trying to say?" Yoongi asked, his whole body now filled with dread.
"You need to get rid of that twink if you want to make it in the rap scene. Either you continue to kiss boys and perform in clubs no one cares about, or you come with us and make your name in America."
Yoongi wanted to laugh, wondering what his manager's reaction would be if he told him that he was in fact the twink in the relationship, not Jimin. He wanted to scream, he wanted to yell and argue with the man in front of him, but instead he remained quiet. Frankly, he was terrified. The dream he had kept with him since he could remember - to make music professionally - was right in front of him. But if he followed the music he loved, he would have to lose the person he loved.
"I don't know what you want me to do. I can't just leave him - I fucking love him! Why can't we just keep it quiet, keep it away from the public knowledge. Surely people do that all the time?" Yoongi asked, his eyes now pleading and the lump in his throat now growing.
"Yoongi, it would be best if you left your life behind now. You are SUGA now. You can fuck whoever you want, but rappers like you aren't in some lovey-dovey relationship. Your little boyfriend doesn't fit with your image," his manager told him, "Sleep on it, and tell me what you want to do next."
"What kind of choice are you giving me here?" Yoongi begged, his voice now thick with sadness.
His manager looked at him for a moment, his eyes full of some indistinguishable emotions.
"Either you stay here with your boring life and release a mixtape which will be forgotten on the day it is released or you come with us to America where you will become the name on everyone's lips, selling out stadiums, and be everything you ever wanted to be."
And with that, his manager walked away from him, leaving him stuck in limbo. His life had seemed so perfect only twenty minutes before, and now he felt like the walls around him were closing in on him. In the car ride back with Jimin he felt sick to his stomach, especially when Jimin started talking about how proud he was.
As they lay in bed that night, Yoongi knew he wouldn't be able to sleep unless he talked to Jimin about it. Rolling onto his side, he met the younger's eyes which seemed to sparkle in the moonlight. Yoongi felt his heart lurch at the idea of ever having to leave such a beautiful creature.
"My manager told me I can't be gay and rap," Yoongi whispered, feeling as though he was about to cry, "He told me I would have to give you up in order to go to America."
"You're going to America? That's amazing baby!"
"Did you not hear me, Jimin? I would have to leave you in order to go. I would have to pretend to be something I'm not. I can't leave you," Yoongi replied, tears now falling down his cheeks.
Jimin wiped one away with the pad of his thumb, "Yoongi you have been chasing this dream your whole life. I do not want to be the one thing which gets in your way. Leave me, leave me here in Seoul, and go and make your dreams come true."
"How can you speak like this? Like it's perfectly okay for us to break up? How can you throw away our love like that?" Yoongi asked, his heart aching now.
"Because I don't want to be the cause of your biggest regret. Follow your dreams, and come back to me when you've reached them."
"What if leaving you becomes my biggest regret?"
"It won't be."

I'm sorry okay, I didn't want this to happen any more than you did.
