20: One Year Later
"Change into a gown and do your make-up. We're going to the Monroe party at your mother's." Miles announced as he flipped his cell phone closed and tossed it onto the bed. "Everyone is going."
"Okay." You rolled your eyes as you turned around. Another party, another get together, another chance for Miles to flash his wealth and status. A year later into your marriage and nothing had changed. You hadn't even gotten to hardly see, let alone spend time with Worick and Nicolas. But whenever there was one of these gatherings, and there had been two previously, you had at least been able to talk to them. So you were excited to see them.
You pulled out your newest dress. A six thousand dollar "vintage" Zuhair Murad Couture dress. It was darling and of course, you had bought it only because it was the most expensive in the store that Miles had brought you to. He hadn't batted an eyelash though and even now, he nodded approvingly when you showed it to him. You didn't understand where he would draw the line at with his money. Was it endless for him? Was he a closeted billionaire? It seemed like you would never know.
Regardless, it took you only a half hour to finish getting ready before you were in a car and heading towards the venue, excited to meet up with your friends again.
"Way woo wo wewiwed?" Miles said as you looked out the window.
"Yes?" You responded back, hesitantly.
"I said, why are you so excited?" He looked at you sternly.
"I missed my mother." You assured him. "I love her."
"Ah. Sure. I suppose that makes sense. She is busy though so do try and keep to yourself while I mingle." He checked his watch for the time. "We are not too late."
Eventually the car pulled up outside the brothel-cum-club and Miles went around to open the door for you, helping you out. The music was bumping the ground beneath you and you smiled; it was nice to be able to go out like this sometimes; even if you didn't understand a word of what anyone was saying.
As you were guided inside, Miles left you with your mother as he went to go greet Daniel Monroe.
Mommy, You began signing, using a childish name in hopes of persuading her. Can I have a private room tonight?
"For what?" She asked, eyebrow raised.
I want to fuck the two men I'm seeing outside of my marriage. You winked at her, knowing she approved of your shenanigans. Especially since your husband and father gave her vast donations and the two men were appreciated customers.
"Sure. Go around the side though." She enunciated for you. "They're to the left. They have a crowd."
You nodded, told her you loved her and gave you a kiss as you scurried away to look for your two best friends. But it was no easy task. The brothel was multiple floors and it was packed tonight. You thought they might even find you first.
