In Blitzo's office, I.M.P Headquarters, 5 mins later ...
The lock of the I.M.P Headquarters, as well the one on Blitzo's office door were easy to pick, surprisingly? At least to Striker.
The cowboy's surprise quickly turned to glee as he entered the office, and immediately saw a familiar figure.
Blitzo.
The snoring boss imp was plonked out on his desk, surrounded by several bottles of hard alcohol.
To Striker's relief, Blitzo did indeed have the grimoire!
He was less happy though ... that the boss imp was cuddling tightly with said book, holding it tightly to his chest!
This ... was gonna be a tricky theft.
The cowboy's hands practically itched to use his weapons ... but Striker knew that that would be a risky move!
Blitzo, being a master assassin like Striker, might wake up at the slightest sound of a readied weapon!
While the cowboy didn't mind getting into fights in pursuit of his goal ... there was just something about fighting one's equals.
Fighting your equals should never be taken for granted!
Striker wasn't at all afraid of taking on the boss imp, but he'd prefer it be at a time and place of his choosing.
Not right now.
Taking a deep breath, the cowboy silently snuck up on the sleeping Blitzo ... ready to act should the boss imp hear him.
Striker eventually reached his target, and leaned down to grab the book ... only for his arm to be suddenly grabbed by Blitzo!
Choking back a cry of alarm, the cowboy tried to carefully detach the boss imp from his arm ... only for his nemesis to tug hard on it!
Inwardly screeching in shock, Striker was quickly restrained and pulled down into a forced cuddle by Blitzo!
The real kicker was that the boss imp was STILL fast asleep!
The cowboy, however, was extremely incredulous and very frustrated at this new situation!
What the frigging heck?!!
As hard as he struggled to escape, Blitzo only hugged him closer and purred happily ... causing Striker to flush crimson.
The cowboy wasn't at all pleased to learn that the boss imp got snuggly when he slept!
Eventually, Striker managed to get out of Blitzo's grip ... and spent the next few seconds recovering his lost pride and dignity.
The cowboy then took another deep breath, and turned back to the boss imp.
Striker decided to try another tactic: gentleness ... something he was not really known for.
The cowboy reached for the book again, but this time ... taking hold of the grimoire and giving it a gentle tug.
VERY ironically, Blitzo's grip immediately tightened and his eyes snapped open!
As his gaze fell upon Striker, the boss imp's eyes narrowed at the cowboy, who immediately tensed up!
Both drew their guns at exactly the same moment, and fired!
The bullets unexpectedly ricocheted off each other, causing Striker to hastily duck!
Blitzo quickly took advantage of this to tackle the other to the ground, growling with anger!
The two assassins then proceeded to roll over and over in a vicious, almost lethal 'catfight ... their guns forgotten on the floor beside them.
Blitzo snarled as he threw a flurry of punches at the hissing outlaw, while trying to stop Striker from garrotting him with his tail.
The boss imp would never admit it in the open, but the cowboy had to be one of the toughest, no, sorry ... THE toughest opponent Blitzo had ever faced!
Striker was ironically just like a rattlesnake: wiry, gritty, ruthless, and extremely vicious!
Said cowboy suddenly collapsed to one side, causing their positions to switch ... catching Blitzo off-guard!
Seizing the opportunity, Striker immediately kicked his opponent to the ground ... causing Blitzo to sprawl face-first on it!
Before the boss imp could get up, Striker was on him like a coyote!
The cowboy swiftly locked Blitzo into an arm stranglehold, while keeping him from rising with one boot pressing down on his back!
The boss imp was bigger, stronger and more experienced than Moxxie ... but that didn't worry Striker!
He'd held his own against bigger adversaries than Blitzo, and STILL came out on top!
The boss imp growled as he wedged a hand in between Striker's arm ... to try and prevent himself from being strangled.
As Blitzo did, he noticed the cowboy's other hand moving towards the magical grimoire.
The boss imp had dropped it on the floor at the beginning of the fight ... and now it was within Striker's reach!
Said cowboy's other hand grasped the book ... at the same time that Blitzo's other had grabbed it too!
The two assassins started pulling it back and forth ... in a strange kind of tug-of war.
It was sort of amusing in a way ... at least to Striker.
"Lost for words, Blitzy?" the cowboy whispered into the boss imp's ears, as he tightened his grip on Blitzo's neck.
"I thought that you'd be happy to see me again?"
"Shut up Scar-face!" the boss imp snarled, struggling to escape his unfortunate situation.
A slight tic appeared under Striker's right eye, but his voice remained calm and sadistic.
"You're one to talk!" he replied, sassily. "I WAS just going to take the book and go, but ... I think you'll be a nice bonus!"
Blitzo did NOT like the sound of that, and struggled harder ... making the cowboy cackle loudly and wickedly.
"Why don't you just close your eyes, Blitzy? Close your eyes and go to ssssssleeep", Striker hissed very softly into the boss imp's ears.
"Aren't you tired of fighting?"
The cowboy's laughter rang in Blitzo's ears as the rattling tail whipped around his chest, and began to assist in the strangling!
The boss imp gritted his teeth as his mind raced through the implications!
From what Striker's words and his actions, Blitzo deduced that the cowboy wasn't trying to kill him ... but incapacitate him instead.
Knock Blitzo out ... and take him away somewhere. The conclusion didn't bring the boss imp any joy though!
He didn't like the sound of Striker taking him ANYWHERE, and his mind had already come up with several potential outcomes!
Blitzo didn't like ANY of them!
It was at that moment ... that the boss imp noticed that the grimoire was glowing faintly purple ... a slightly ominous, pulsing glow at that!
Striker hadn't noticed it though ... being as his entire attention was focused on knocking Blitzo out.
The boss imp's eyes widened as he realised what that meant!!
Back when they'd first made their arrangement, Stolas had informed Blitzo about the security spell that he'd placed on his grimoire to protect it from thieves.
The owl royal had not told the imp EXACTLY what the spell did to the would-be robbers ... only that it'd be six hours of the WORST THING EVER!!
Blitzo didn't even want to imagine what Stolas meant by that!
The only reason why the boss imp HIMSELF hadn't been hit with the spell at the beginning ... was because Stolas had been using it earlier.
The owl prince had momentarily taken the protective spell off, while using the grimoire.
Stolas had ended up modifying the spell to allow Blitzo and his employees to use the book without being affected.
However, if anyone else touched the book ... like right now, with Striker ... the spell would go off!
If the protection spell was going to go off, the boss imp sure as hell didn't want to be caught in the blast zone!!!
Thinking quickly, Blitzo abruptly thrust the book fully into Striker's grip!
This completely took the cowboy by surprise, causing him to loosen his grip!
Taking advantage of the slackness, the boss imp quickly followed the thrust up with a strong, whirl-around kick!
This allowed Blitzo to get to his feet again ... while sending Striker and the book against the opposite wall!
The boss imp quickly dived behind a chair, just as the room was lit up in a brilliant, purple flash!
