~Zinnia's POV~

Melody and Serena are saying we should stay at Wisteria. I don't care. Kirby is gone. I have nothing left. Samuel looks at me with despair everyday. Why does he care? We barely spoke to each other. But it's like I can sense what he is feeling. The hurt he feels when he sees me. For days now I have done nothing except lay in the bed in the room Melody, Serena, and I share. They ask me everyday to eat or get up. Why should I? I have nothing to live for. Repeatedly Melody has brought Samuel to see me, but he looks like he's always about to cry at the sight of me. I probably would too. I'm pathetic, and worthless. I lost my soulmate. There's nothing left for me.

~Samuel's POV~

I see Zinnia so depressed, and it kills me knowing I can't help her. I can sense what she's feeling, and it's bad. I call Verilia and go sit with her in the stables.
"What can I do? I don't know how to help Zinnia." I tell Verilia. She snorts and looks at me with her large purple eyes. Suddenly, I feel pain. But it's not mine.
"Z!" I cry out and race to her room. I sprint past Melody and Serena who were walking towards the stables.
"Samuel what's going on?" Melody calls.
"Z is in trouble!" I shout and keep running. I hear them start to follow me. I enter their room and see Zinnia in a corner, blood on her wrists. I kneel beside her, and gently take the razor blade. I pull her into my arms as tears fall down my cheeks.
"Z....why..." I murmur. She looks at me weakly.
"Why do you care?" She answers. I shake my head.
"Because I love you. I know you are upset over him, but you need to realize that he wouldn't want this for you. You are strong Zinnia. I know you don't feel like it because you have lost the love of your life, but there are still many people who care about you and would be lost without you." I kiss her forehead. Drew walks past Melody and Serena in the doorway and patches up Zinnia's wrists. I help her into her bed.
"And Zinnia, will you go to the Wisteria dance with me?" I whisper. She nods, and I leave her alone to rest. Serena stays behind to watch over her. Melody looks at me.
"How did you know she was in trouble?" Melody asks me, her eyes narrowed to slits.
"I felt pain, but I knew it wasn't mine, so I guessed that it was Z." I reply calmly.
"You do realize that you're her true soulmate." Melody looks at me. My eyes widen.
"But Kirby..." I breathe. Melody shakes her head.
"You sensed when Zinnia was in trouble and sent her some of your power. That's why the walls went up when you weren't even in the room. You are her soulmate. You are the only one who can truly protect her." Melody explains. I take a step back.
"Are you sure?" I feel dizzy. Melody nods, and I race off to Verilia. A ride on her back always makes me feel better. Stumbling into the stables, I open up the dragon hatch and hop onto her back. She takes off and flies higher than normal, since she can tell I'm upset. Zinnia is my soulmate....I can't believe it. But....she hates me. She thought I didn't care about her. I love her. Zinnia it the best person to ever walk into my life. Verilia and I fly back to the school, and after I walk back to the main building, I find Zinnia waiting for me.
"Samuel..." She starts. I pull her into my arms and kiss her hard. As I pull away, I see her eyes start to glisten, and tears begin to fall down her face.
"I'm sorry Samuel." She murmurs.
"It's alright. I know you were upset. Everything is fine Z." I kiss her forehead. She smiles up at me, the tears still in her eyes. Gently, I wipe them away and we walk together to her room. We walk in and find that girl from this school, Emmy.
"Hey, Zinnia, if you are feeling up to it, I was thinking you and your friends, could join our school for the dance on Friday night." She smiles at us. Zinnia nods.
"Perfect! Tomorrow, bring your friends to the gate and we will go dress shopping! See ya tomorrow!" She sings and then exits.
"Um okay. She's a little weird." I say. Zinnia yawns and I lay with her on her bed.
"You should go with them tomorrow. Do something normal. I know it's gonna be tough move on, but think of what he would want." I murmur. She sighs.
"I want to. But I don't think it will help." She answers.
"Nothing can help unless you let it. Everything will be alright Z." I lean over and kiss her forehead, and leave her to sleep. As I walk back to my room, I look up at the moon and stars.
The night is beautiful, and it almost makes me feel like things are finally working out. But I knew better. Something dangerous lurked around the corner. And I don't know if Zinnia can handle anymore loss. She's tough, but someone can only go through so much. Melody and her other friends can help her, but she has to fulfill the prophesy on her own. Even if I am her soulmate, there's only so much I can do. I will do everything in my power to help her. I love her, and nothing can change that. Verilia flies across the sky for her nighttime hunt, and I close my eyes. Soon, we will be free.
