Just Gay Panic.

[Virgil's POV]

Remus invited us over again today. I don't know why but it's nice. I'm not used to having so many people to hang around with. It's hard being so out of my comfort zone but I'm enjoying it!

We drove to their apartment, not really knowing what to expect.

'Baby!' Remus called walking out of the building they lived in. Janus walked over and wrapped his arms around Remus, bringing him in for a kiss.

'Gross, get a room!' I called, sticking my tongue out.

'You can't say much. "oH rOMaN!" ' Remus started talking in a funny way.

'Shut up, we're friends.'

'Don't forget, you have to get his number today!' Shit.

'I'm not worried.' I shrugged, hoping my fear wasn't obvious. I ran inside and up to their apartment.

'DAD!' I yelled, throwing open the door.

'KIDDO?' I heard from inside. I ran inside and saw Patton, I ran towards him and gave him a hug almost knocking both of us onto the floor. Patton burst into a fit of giggles, 'Remus didn't tell us you were coming!'

'Evil trash man,' I whispered. Patton giggled again.

'Now kiddo, he isn't that evil.' I pulled away from our hug.

'Okay, I believe you. We hanging out today?' I asked.

'I have nothing to do, but there was something we can all do together!'

'What's that?' Remus said, walking in, holding Janus' hand.

'I wanna go the "The Headless Pig" !' What the hell is that?

'Not awful...' Jan looked at Remus who smiled and shrugged.

'You two get your boyfriends up!' Remus pointed at me and Patton. He walked into his own room with Jan.

'He's not my boyfriend!' I called out even though he door was shut. I heard Patton giggle behind me.

'Just go get him!' he said, walking off to get Logan. I walked over to Roman's door; it was a white one with gold accents and his name in a red cursive font.

'Princey?' I knocked on the door.

'Virge?' He opened the door slightly. His hair was a bit messy in a really hot way. He had a tight red t-shirt on and some baggy grey sweatpants.

'Get dressed, we're going out!'

'...what?' He ran his hands threw his hair and opened the door a bit more to lean on it.

'Holy fuck,' I mumbled under my breath.

'What?' He asked.

'Get dressed!' I pushed him lightly. He chuckled and held his hands up in defeat. He walked away from the door and pulled off his shirt.

Damn, he's ripped...

'You're staring princess.' He said chuckling again.

'COMING DAD!' I yelled, closing the door and walking away as fast as possible.

'What was that kiddo?' Patton said, walking towards me with Logan not too far behind.

'Oh, just needed to get out of a gay-panic situation.' I smile and shrugged.

'Roman has that effect on people.'

'Ye- wait I didn't say Roman.'

'You didn't need to.' Patton giggled before walking past me with Logan.

'Hi son.' He said with a small smile and wave.

'Hi mom.' I said, returning both.

I went and sat on the couch in the living room and not long after we were just waiting on Roman.

'Go hurry him up, Virge.' Jan said.

'Why me?' I didn't want to get up.

'He'll listen to you!'

'Fine.' I said standing up and walking down the hall to his room.

''Princey~' I called, knocking on the door.

'I'm coming out in a second, just wait!'

'You're obviously gay. Hurry up!' I leaned on the door.

'What? I never confirmed I was gay!'

'Yesterday's conversation with Pat and Lo was enough confirmation.'

'Fair enough, you act pretty gay for a straight person though.' Oh Roman, you dumb shit.

'Honestly you should get your gaydar checked up on .'

'What does that mean...'

'Hurry up!' I said. Then the door opened before I could push myself off it which resulted with me falling backwards. Luckily, I had my own Prince-Fucking-Charming to catch me. He caught me and when I looked up our faces were centimetres apart.

'Falling for me already?'

'Gay enough.' I smirked up at him.

'What are you guys-' Roman and I snapped our heads up to find Remus looking at us with a very suggestive face. 'Sorry to ruin...this. Carry on. I was never even here...' He smiled and turned away. After noticing what he was implying I jumped up and ran after him. As I was about to turn the corner I turned back to Roman and gave him a small glare. He was leaning up against his doorframe. When he noticed I was looking, he smirked and chuckled as my face heated up.

'Sh-shut up. C'mon!' I said turning around and speed-walking to the living room.

'Ooh, what's got you so red?' Patton said standing up and poking me, giggling a little.

'Nothing, where we going? Out? Out sounds fun! Lets go go go go!' I started pulling Patton out of the apartment.

'He was gonna kiss Roman!' Remus exclaimed, jumping up and down a little.

'Shut up! I hissed, glaring at him. Roman walked into the room and smiled. I turned the other way and bolted. I ran down the stairs, jumping two at a time. I skidded to a halt infront of my car and leaned on it, trying to look more chill than I was.

'Hey kiddo!' Patton called as he skipped out of the building, hand in hand with Logan following behind.

'Oh heyy Pat...' I said, scratching the back of my neck.

'Come with Logan and I! Remus and Janus can take Roman.' He said, nodding his head over to his car.

'Sure!' I ran over to his car and slid into the back seat. I saw the rest of the guys come outside, heard some yelling -mostly profanities from the twins- but then it stopped and my chosen parents got in the car.

'So what happened with you and Roman?' Logan asked as soon as we'd set off.

'Well, I went to get him, we told each other we were gay, I fell into his arms, deparetly wanted to kiss him but Remus walked in and ruined my moment and I've got to get his number by the end of the day so I can get my hot topic shopping spree.' I finished, sighing and slouching in the chair.

'Sit up straight, you don't want to damage your back,' Logan said looking at me from the little mirror in the front of the car.

'So do you like Roman?'  Patton said turning around slightly to look at me.

'I...No! No, we're just friends.' I sigh. 'If I keep telling myself that will I end up believing it?' I asked rubbing my eyes, hoping Logan was smart enough to know something like this. He was a bit like a robot, but human enough with Patton. Infact, a lot more human with him.

'Ah, you're talking about The Illusory Truth Effect.' Logan told me. 'The illusory truth effect ,also known as the validity effect, truth effect, or the reiteration effect, is the tendency to believe false information to be correct after repeated exposure. Usually in media and news articals is where it's used.'

'Oh. Sounds fancy.'

'It's basically what you said, telling something or hearing something enough times to believe it's the truth or real.'

'So you do like Roman?' Patton asked, clearly confused about everything.

'I don't want to because I barely know him, and he's one of my best friend's brother. But I think I do. Which is really weird because I like, basically just met him. Though, I just met you two and I'm in a car with you, not knowing nor wondering if you two are serial killers but instead being your unofficial adopted child.'

'Well, I'm glad you trust us kiddo! Roman's a hopeless romantic, always hoping to meet "the one", the type of guy to go all out for someone he finds special.' Patton smiled. 'I hope he finds his soulmate, the guy kinda deserves it after a few rough years. Only a couple heartbreaks but he's been through thick and thin to get an acting career.'

'Wow, guess he likes it then?'  I wanted to learn more about Roman.

'Yeah. He's a weird guy. He's usually inexorable when it comes to his career but the complete opposite on some days.' I heard Logan mumble something about Patton usuing words like inexorable.

'What do you mean?'

'Sometimes he comes home, gushing about how much he loves acting but other he'd come home, bottle of wine in hand, sobbing about how tough it is. He always gets back up again though.'

'We've arrived.' Logan said, parking the car.

'Oh yeah, what are we even doing today?' I asked, getting out of the car.

'Well, I came by here once and it's like, some kind of English Bar which they call a 'pub' so thats awesome! We're gonna go in, order some food and drinks, and then they have a quiz!'

'Sounds cool, but I don't really like bars.' I told the two, slightly shrinking into my hoodie.

'Don't worry. I spent half a year in England. Pubs are much more casual settings. Many people go there as if it were a coffee shop. It's not uncommon to go there at anytime of the day. They serve  traditional english breakfeats, encluding bacon, fried eggs, beans, tomatos, mushrooms, sausages, toast and sometimes hashbrowns. They also serve lunch and dinner. Some english dishes enclude, fish and chips, sausages and mashed potatos and a sunday roast. That has beef, pork or lamb with, yorkshire puddings, roasted potatos, gravey and vegitables. A Sunday roast is, unsurprisingly, served on a sunday while many Englishfolk have fish and chips on friday and its a popular concept. Pubs usually serve these common dishes and they serve drinks called 'pints' which is just beer with a different name. Pubs usually aren't rowdy unless a rugby match is going on. Rugby, now thats a whole other thing-'

'Lo, this is all very interesting and stuff, but you're going on a tangent. My nerves are calmed. Thanks, let's just go inside now.' I siad, smiling at him.

'Alright,' he said a little down he couldn't continue about England.

We saw Roman and the rest of the guys sitting around a wooden table with matching chairs. They had a dark varnish and worked well with the interior of the pub. The lighting was a dark yellow, creating a warm atmosphere in the place. The bar was a simialr wood and colour to all the tables and behind had glasses on the shelves. There were those drink stations just behind the counter. The floor was a marron colour with an odd gold and purple swirl design over it. I loved this place.

We decided to get some drinks first then get food a bit after so Roman and I walked up to the bar with everyones drink orders. Roman and Logan were diving us all back -Roman said Janus was supposed to drive but instead switched with him so he and Remus could make out in the back seats- so they just ordered a colk as well as I did because I did not want another hangover just a couple days from the last one. The other three got pints though. To my surprise, Patton was super up to drinking alcohol.

'So...other than the car ride, how are you?' I asked, slightly awkward as we approached the bar.

'Well, between you sprinting away from me as I walked into the room, to you coming in here, I've been alright. But, when someone runs away from you, that kinda knocks down your ego.' He smiled at me and leant on the bar as we waited for service. I remembered the bet from earlier. I could ask for his help, or I could just make a joke out of it. Be a bit smooth maybe.

'Since we don't have much to talk about, wanna do a riddle?' I began, remembering something Dee showed me a while ago.

'Why not? I'm up to the challange.'

'Okay, don't interupt me though,' I smiled and began the riddle. 'You are a bus driver, and there's 12 people on the bus. At the first stop, 6 people get on and non get off. At the second stop, 9 people get on and 3 get off. At the third stop, 16 people get on 5 get off. At the fourth, 17 get on and 8 get off. What is the bus drivers phone number?'  He processed what I said for a couple seconds then grinned.

'You smooth son of a bitch that was awesome! You've totally got to give him your number now, hun.' A guy walked up to us on the opposite side of the bar. You could hear the tap of heels as he came up to us. He wore sunglasses and a leather jacket even though we were indoors. 'Sup babes, Remy.' He stuck his hand out and we both shook it.

'Hi, I'm Roman!'

'Virgil.'

'That was one of the best pick up lines Virgil.' Remy said smirking.

'Wait- Not a pick up line! Just wanted his number...in a friendly way...' I said, more to myself than the other two.

'I can put it in your phone if you want.' Roman told me.

'I left it on the table, I'll order while you put it in then come back to help me carry the drinks over.' I said. He nodded and walked over to the table. I watched as he left.

'You totally like him.' Remy smirked even more.

'Head over heels now I should probably order drinks.' I said turning back to Remy.

'Yep, whatcha want?'

'3 pints, two diet cokes, one lemonade please.'

'Coming right up!'

We spoke for a couple minutes as he made the drinks about how he used to work in Starbucks but he got a job at the pub because some hot guy called Emile worked there and how Remy is slowly working up to asking him out. He finished the 6 drinks so I took three and began walking to the table. I passed Roman on the way who said he'd go and get the rest of the drinks.

'Roman told us what happened.' Patton almost screamed me as I passed Logan his lemonade (coke is too "bad for his teeth" he told us all). Remus looked so down, his head in his hands.

'I'm going to be so broke,'  he whispered. I picked up to see the new contact which made me smile.
