[Virgil's POV]

We went down to the cars and decided to just take Roman's so it would be easier. We got in, I called shotgun and sat with Roman in the front while Jan and Ree were in the back. Too soon though, we realised we had no idea where we were going to go.

'Movies!' Janus suggested.

'No way, you and Re would end up making out!' I said.

'Nooooo...' Janus began to defend before Remus interuprted.

'Yes we would!' Remus confessed.

'Okay how about the park?' Roman asked.

'No, Re would scare the kids.' I sighed.

'Fair enough.' Re shrugged.

'God, V just pick a place then.' Janus seemed to be getting annoyed with me. I sunk down in my seat and twiddled my fingers. Roman reached over and held one of my hands. He stroked the back of my knuckles with his thumb which helped calm me down. 

'Zoo?' I asked quietly.

'Sounds perfect!' Roman said cheerfully.

'I could see some monkeys.' Janus agreed.

'LIONS!!' Remus yelled making Roman let go of my hand to grab the steering wheel, which made me rather sad. I think I accidentally let that show because he looked over at me and grabbed my hand again. I blushed a little and looked away. The car ride was mostly Dee and Remus making jokes (some obviously more inappropriate than others) and Roman stayed holding my hand.

We drove for the longest hour and thirty minutes I have ever experienced in my entire life.

We arrived at the zoo and Roman opened my door for me again. He kept hold of my hand and pulled me to the entrance while Janus and Remus were talking behind us. We got to the desk and I pulled out my wallet but Roman pushed it away.

'Don't worry, I got this!' He smiled at me so I smiled back, remembering my bet with Remus and Jan.

'Hey Virge, can you just come over here for a sec?' Remus said. I nodded and followed him to one side of the entrance. 

'What's up?' I was worried he was mad at me for something.

'I saw you and Ro holding hands in the car.' He said it with a slight smirk on his face.

'Oh..' 

'Don't worry, it was super cute!'

'Right, so what about Ro holding my hand?'

'I wanna change the bet.'

'How?' This should be interesting...

'If you keep holding hands with my brother, throughout the whole trip, you don't have to be really sweet or anything, you get your lunch for a week.'

'So I hold hands with you're brother, and you pay me with food?'

'Yep.' 

'Nice!' 

'So you'll do it?'

'Duh!' This was gonna be easy.

'I think you just want to hold hands with Roman.'

'What? No! Friends remember?' God it can't be that easy to see...

'Yeah, friends with benefits.'

'REMUS!' I hit him on the arm and he ran back to the others who had finished paying.

I walked back to them and as we walked out the entrance to explore the rest of the animals, i slipped my fingers between Roman's.

[Roman's POV]

I had just payed for the trip when Remus and Virgil walked back over to us. We left the entrance building and began walking around. As we were, Virgil took my hand and held it. I swallowed hard and was blushing slightly. Remus and Janus were running around like excited children pointing at the monkeys and the penguins while Virgil and I walked hand in hand watching.

'New rules, Princey' Still at it with that lovely nickname.

'Oh yeah?'

'All we gotta do is hold hands and boom, lunch for the week.'

'How long for?' Obviously, the longer the better.

'All freakin' day.' Oh hell yeah.

'Ah..' I could see Remus turn slightly to check if Virgil and I were still holding hands.

'This isn't awkward at all, right?'

'We didn't have time for awkwardness.' I responded as calmly as possible. I was still freaking out that he and I were holding hands. There was a buzz from my pocket and it was Patton.

{TEXTING CHAT}

[Padre] Hey, I'm almost home and Logan's with me! Are you guys in?

[Handsome Prince] Hey Pat, nah we're out rn but we'll be in l8ter

[Padre] Where are u?

[Handsome Prince] Out with Remus Dee and a friend

[Padre] UR ON A DATE?

[Handsome Prince] not a date

[Padre] A DOUBLE DATE?!

[Handsome Prince] no!!

[Padre] You should totally double date with Lo and I

[Handsome Prince] its not a date Patton!

[Padre] sure thing, kiddo ;)

[Handsome Prince] ugh I'll text u when I'm setting off to go back home.

[Padre] Okay, enjoy you're totally not a date date.

{REAL LIFE}

'Who ya texting Sir Sing-a-lot?' Virgil tried looking over my shoulder too see but I hid the phone.

'Just my other roommate.' I put my phone back in my pocket.

'Oh that's....Patton right?

'Yeah, you know him?'

'I've apparently been adopted by the guy,' Virgil said with a smile. God, I liked his smile.

'Yeah, he doesn't make friends, he adopts them as his kids.'

'Yeah, anyway, shall we get food?'

'I could eat'

'Good, I'm starving,' He was so happy and it was adorable! He and I walked to the little cafe thing they had. It sold things other than hot drinks, like chips and stuff, which is what Virgil got. I payed again before he even had time to protest. We sat on a table by the window, which showed us a butterfly enclosure. Virgil seemed happy eating with one hand. Janus and Remus weren't there, but it would be easier to keep hold. For the free food, of course.

'You good, Ro?' I was probably staring off into space. 

'All good!' 

'Wanna play a game?' he said with the same evil grin Ree had.

'What game?'

'Eye spy!'

'Sure,' I chuckled at his excitement.

'Okayyy, I spy with my little eye, something beginning with...G!'

'Ground?'

'Nope,'

'Grey?'

'No,' I looked around a bit and out the window,

'Oh, grass!'

'Yeah, that was easy!'

'My turn,  I spy with my little eye, something beginning with B.'

'damn, butterfly?'

'Nope!' 

'Dang it!...B....'

'Want a hint?'

'Please,'

'It's coffee related.'

'...beans?' I chuckled at him and squeezed his hand slightly. I saw his cheeks go a bit pink, but chose to not tease him this time. 'okay,okay, coffee, coffee, coffee.....' He looked around the cafe. 'ahhh, you're clever, ' He smiled. 'Barista?' 

'Yeah!' he rolled his eyes while maintaining his smile.

'My go then...'

'Think quick eyeliner,'

'That was a boring nickname, princey' he rolled his eyes, maintaining a smile 'let's make it harder, I spy with my little eye, something beginning with H and P!'

'Two words?' I gasped a little for drama.

'Guess!'

'Hot Pocket?'

'Tell me where you see a hot pocket here, Roman'

'You could be hiding it in your pocket!' He rolled his eyes again, 'Wait, hmm.... Hassle and prevaricator?' [Inconvenience and liar]

'What?'

'Look!' I pointed at the door as Remus and Janus walked in.

'Ohhh!' Virgil used his spare hand to wave at the others. They saw him and walked over. Remus sat next to Virgil and whispered something in his ear. Virgil nodded so I assumed it was about the bet. I squeezed his hand a little tighter and he smiled at me, not looking directly in my eyes.

'How are you guys?' I asked.

Jan and Ree smiled. 

'We saw the lions!' Remus grinned widely.

'Remus almost got killed by a lion,' Janus smiled almost as much as Remus was. Ree nodded enthusiastically. Virgil looked a little horrified and and quite scared. 

After Janus and Remus got their food, Virgil and I decided to have out own fun. We'd been looking after the other two for the majority of the day, so why not let us have our time.

'What do you really wanna see?'

'The reptiles!'

'Um..okay!' He smiled and ran towards the reptilian area like an excited child. I had to clearly as we were holding hands. When we got there Virgil was practically bouncing. The reptiles were kept in a building so they could keep them warm. The spiders were kept there too so we were going to see them as well.

'Lizards, Ro!' Virgil went up close to the glass and whispered,

'You're so freakin' awesome!' I took a sneaky photo of him smiling and cooing at the lizard. 'SPIDERS NEXT!' Virgil kept hold of my hand, even though he wanted to hold it and stroke at at the same time. The zookeeper in the area put a tarantula in Virgil's palm. He got so excited he could barely talk, I took another picture and he blushed immediately and looked away.

'Delete it!' He kept blushing and looked at the tarantula. 

'No way! You look adorable!'

'.......like the lizard?' he whispered.

'Like the lizard!' I said, squeezing his hand. He blushed a bit more but smiled. The zookeeper asked if I wanted to hold it.

'Yeah, he does!' Virgil held his hand out for the zookeeper to take and she held it before turning to me. I put my phone away and held my hand out. She put it in my hand and I squealed a bit. Virgil was just laughing at me.

'It's just a little spider Ro!'

'Patton calls them "Creepy Crawly Death Dealers"'

'Please! They're just misunderstood!' He said stroking it. He was just too cute. His little smile as he was stroking the tarantula. The way he laughed. The way he got flustered when I teased him. It was hard not to stare. Virgil's soft voice is what took me out of my own head,

'What?' He giggled, blushing again.

'What do you mean?' I asked with a smile.

'Why are you looking at me like that?'

[Virgil's POV]

'What?' I let out a small giggle.

'What do you mean?' He smiled, which made me melt 

'Why are you looking at me like that?' I clarified for him.

'Well, forgive me for staring, but you are very beautiful.' I fully melted inside and I felt my face go as red and hot as the lizards' heat lamps. Two can play at that game.

'Well, if I'm beautiful, you must be a damn god.' I whispered in his ear. Not one of my best, I'll admit, but he still blushed. The zookeeper took the spider back and Roman and I left that enclosure.

'Where to next, dark princess?' Roman said swinging our hands. 

'You need to stop with these nicknames!' I said, though I had a grin spread across my face.

'Stop being a grump, Mr Grouch!' He spun me around as we walked. I giggled slightly. 'Little Miss Sunshine can giggle?' He spun me back and I giggled again despite my efforts to keep it in. I tried to take the attention away from me.

'Those nicknames were awful, Princey.' He pulled me towards him slightly, just so we were a bit closer.

'Well, you wont get to hear them in a few hours.'

'What?' My face fell just at the though of not being around Roman.

'Its getting dark already, we need to grab Jan and Remus then head home.'

'Oh...' I looked down. Roman used his spare hand to pull up my chin and smiled

'Its okay, we still have the drive home!' I perked up a little.

'Yeah, you're right.' 

'Aww, want to spend more time with me, Storm Boy?' he poked my side.

'Pft! What? No....' I looked at him and he had a dopey grin spread across his face, 'No! Just stop!'

'Sure thing, eyeliner.'

'Oof, loosing your thunder here princey, you used that one earlier!'

'When?!' 

'When we were playing eye spy!'

'Damn it, I did!' he sighed dramatically, 'oh yeah, we left it on your turn. What was the answer?'

'Oh look Ree and Jan!' I almost yelled, dragging him towards them.

The answer was hot prince, but Roman didn't need to know that.
