The King of Destruction Can't Stop Them
"Sorry, was I interrupting something?"
Adrien and Marinette couldn't have been hotter without being declared radioactive and a warning sign posted on their foreheads.
"Nope,"
"Not a thing,"
"Nothing,"
"Yeah what she said."
Adrien scratched the back of his neck as Marinette played with her fingers in front of her body. Neither looking at each other or at Plagg.
"Good. Now listen, Nooroo's being pulled from the panel."
"What?" The duel shrieks were heard around the studio as Plagg began to fill them in. It seems Lila had been taking the hit from Gabriel seriously and working her way through the staff members linked to him. Plagg and Tikki had numerous conversations with the production teams to keep their jobs, but it seemed Nooroo went as damage control.
"Which means," Plagg finished up, "she'll be coming for you two next." Adrien and Marinette caught each other's eyes and their eyes expressing their concern. Lila was manipulative and knew how to get her own way. If her mind was set one something then she would get it.
"What do you want us to do?" Adrien asked, crossing his arms over his chest. His defensive wall slowly structuring around himself.
"Well, it's kind of mine and Tikki's plan so don't give me all the credit."
"Plagg?" Marinette's voice was stern and to the point. Adrien hadn't seen her like this since the days of Maleficent. A smile stretched on his lips as he remembered those first few weeks. He may have been quite miserable at the time, but now, looking back at it, it was kind of hot.
"You need to stay away from London during the week. We've found you another studio to train at in Paris, but you'll need to make sure you are publicly seen out and about in different places. We need to make sure Lila can't indicate any type of foul play."
"And what does my father think about this?" Adrien questioned.
"He's on board too." Adrien sighed and moved his neck from side to side, trying to relieve the stress aches taking over. "He wants you to go to Paris early this Sunday." Plagg continued.
"I suppose we can visit my parents and friends? Maybe we could see some of the Christmas events?"
"Sure," Adrien sighed, "it's been a while since I've been home."
"Excellent," Plagg clapped his hands together. "And don't forget to go to those tourist attractions. Tweet it, Snap it, Instagram it ... just make sure you're seen together, holding hands, hugging, kissing." Plagg dropped them both a wink, the corner of his mouth turning up in a smirk.
Both nodded at Plagg as he began to move towards the doorway.
"Oh and by the way, you don't actually have to kiss for the rumba, but it wouldn't do it any harm." He dropped them another wink and began to walk out the room. "It's getting hot in here, so hot, so take off all your clothes. I am getting too hot, I should take my clothes off." Dropping a twist and a slide, Plagg walked out the door singing Nelly's 'It's getting hot in here' at the top of his lungs before screaming with laughter.
"So," Adrien looked over towards Marinette, wanting to discuss what had happened before Plagg rudely interrupted them, but low and behold, Marinette was back to business.
"The dance is based on Romeo and Juliet. I've asked for the fish tank and our costumes are based on the party. If we start with a little bit of a reconstruction of that scene and then build it up to the double death at the end."
"Marinette," he called, however her focus was elsewhere, wandering back to the stereo and restarting the music. If he didn't act fast he knew he was going to lose her.
"I've asked for my wings to be more net-like rather than big pointy, stiff things. I don't really want to get them in the way."
Adrien followed after her, but she wasn't giving him a moment to speak. She was rambling and over the past few weeks Adrien could tell it was a nervous tick.
Grabbing her arm he spun her round into his body, placed his hands on her face and his lips against hers. He pulled back to study her face. Her eyes were wide open, and lips still in a pout.
Oh no, what had he done?
Swiftly, he dropped his hands from her face and took one to rub the back of his neck. His tongue brushed his lower lip before his teeth cupped over it.
"I'm so sorry, I just -"
Before he could finish his sentence, Marinette had lunged forward, leaping onto him and wrapping her legs around his waist. Her lips smashed against his in probably the most aggressive kiss either of them had ever experienced, but neither cared, this was a long time in the making.
"I've wanted to do that for weeks," she said.
"Me too," he agreed, clashing back together for another kiss, this time though a little softer, a little more patient.
"I almost forgot ..." A voice pulled the two of them away from each other, causing them to turn their heads and look at the doorway. Marinette still firmly wrapped around Adrien's waist.
Plagg looked at the two of them before bursting out laughing.
"Oh wow! Ok! When I said kissing in the rumba was good, I didn't mean a full on making out. It's a family show, remember."
"Is there a reason you're back?" Adrien asked, his hands were now cupping Marinette's thighs holding her in place.
"If there was, I can't remember anymore. Carry on." Plagg made his way out singing again, this time filling the void with his own out of tune rendition of 'Love is in the air'.
Adrien lowered Marinette's legs down and back onto the floor, but he couldn't bear to let her go yet. He interlocked his fingers behind her back, holding her steady and to his chest.
"Would you oppose making our fake date a real one? Because I really want to take you out, Marinette."
Her smile warmed him to the core as he waited for her answer.
"Yes, as long as we get at least half of this dance complete today. We've still got work to do to win this thing, Agreste."
"I will follow you all the way, M'Lady." Adrien held out a hand ready for Marinette to lead him through the dance, his heart full of such love and joy.
