ACT ONE
CHAPTER THREE
The rebelling life of Prince Ali
Carlos felt like he was in Heaven.
The son of Cruella had been taking his pick from the sweet bowl since the moment he stepped in the limo, devouring the sweets before him as the abstract new flavours danced across his taste buds. He had never tasted anything so new in his life, so sweet and it made him wonder whether Auradon would be so bad after all. Of course he would follow through with the plan as he didn't want to get on his friends bad side nor on the bad side of Maleficent herself but he did hope that when they invaded Auradon that he would still have access to the sweets he had been exposed to. Noting the silent tension in the room, especially the awkward tension from the fact that they were sat with their rival, Carlos decided to speak up.
"Are the handles on your bag from some sort of animal?" Carlos asked the pirate after sticking another sweet in his mouth, the girl looking up at him in surprise as she pulled her bag closer to her chest and ran her hands across the handle of bone.
"They're antlers." Gael replied, all four of the other Villain kids giving her a disgusted look as they judged her choice of bag, clearly upsetting the girl. "What? I use antlers in all of my decorating, ring a bell?"
"You're looking a little washed out." Evie told Mal as she noted the pale look on the girls face, immediately pulling out her blush as she tried to dust the girls face. "Let me help you out."
"Ew, stop." Mal retaliated by pushing the girls hands away. "I'm plotting."
"Well, It's not very attractive." Evie told her friend, Gael immediately smiling as she played with the Pirate hat that was in her lap - smiling softly at it as if it held some sort of sentimental value that the others villains didn't know.
"Finally," Gael said as she addressed her smile towards the Evil Queens daughter. "something we can agree with."
"Oh! These!" Carlos caught everyones attention as he grabbed onto a chocolate sweet with wrinkled edges, holding it high above him before taking a bite and turning to Jay. "It's salty like nuts, but it's sweet like I don't know what."
"Let me see." Jay said as he began trying to tackle Carlos for the piece of chocolate, the son of Cruella not giving in as he shoved the whole sweet into his mouth without another thought, Jay hitting him.
"Ow!"
Gael shook her head at the two boys, her mind wandering to her brother Gil and her friend Harry who acted similarly as she thought of how long she would be away from them. She was indebted to the two, along with her captain Uma who had held the title of her best friend every since Gael had approached her in the marketplace. Sitting among their worst enemies made her want to go home even more and it didn't help that the friendship between Mal and Evie reminded her of the friendship she held with Uma and similarly Jay and Carlos mimicked Harry and Gil. In a way she felt as if her livelihood had been stripped from her, and she couldn't wait until they competed the job so that she could get back to them.
Because until they were reunited she would never be home.
"Look!"
Following the blue haired girls alarming outburst, the rest of the villain kids followed her eyes to look towards the windscreen of the car - their eyes widening as they noticed that not only was there no bridge to drive over, but the driver was driving right towards the open sea ready to plummet to their deaths.
"It's a trap!" Carlos shouted, Gael shaking her head at the group as she sat back in her chair and took the bowl from Carlos' chair and began snacking.
"It's not a trap..." Gael told them but as expected, none of them listened.
The four Villain Kids screamed as they all closed their eyes, preparing themselves to hit the water before something extraordinary happened. Realising that they hadn't hit the water, the four villain kids opened their eyes and gasped escaped their lips. At the press of a button the barrier began to appear before them like magically, guiding them to Auradon smoothly and safely. They were gobsmacked, not believing what was happening as they slumped back into their chairs, the daughter of Gaston rolling her eyes at them as she placed with the feather on her pirate hat.
"You're all so dramatic." She muttered, shaking her head at the group as she tried to hold back a chuckle.
"What just happened?" Carlos asked the group, his eyes not leaving the barrier.
"It must be magic." Evie repied, Gael shaking her head as she looked at the group in bewilderment.
"It's not magic," Gael said, shaking her head at them. "he has a button-"
"A button?" Mal interrupted her as she held the remote she had picked up minutes ago and had pressed a button on. "Like this one?"
"Yes and it opens the barrier."
"Hey." Mal directed her attention towards the driver, who looked at hew quickly through the rear view mirror. "Did this little button just open up the magic barrier?"
"No, this one opens the magic barrier. That one opens my garage. And this button..." Before the man could finish he pressed another button before him, the window between the villain kids and the driver closing without another word.
"Okay." Mal said as she sat back, a proud smirk on her face as she addressed her friends. "Nasty. I like that guy."
"You get yourselves all worked up for nothing." Gael scoffed as she shook her head, not believing that the group didn't know how the barrier worked when they had literally been brought up to know in hopes of rebellion. "Don't you read?"
"You can read?" Evie tilted her head in confusion, Gaels mouth falling open as an undistinguished sound left her lips as she looked at the group in disbelief.
"Wow... offensive. Of course I can read." Gael assured them as a frown settled on her face. "Why wouldn't I?"
"Well you know..." Jay started, Gaels eyes darkening as she peered through him and dared him to finish his sentence.
"I know what?"
"How can you read this? There's no pictures!" Jay mimicked the girls father, the other VK's laughing at his impression which was actually more accurate than they imagined. "Also your brothers can't read."
"You should know better than to compare me to my brothers," Gael replied with an eye roll. "I wasn't raised the same way they were."
"Whmy nowt?" Carlos questioned with a mouth full of sweets, Gael remaining silent for a moment before she looked up at Carlos and noted the chocolate that was dripping from his chin.
Gael: "You've got a little something.... right there." Gael pointed out to Carlos, the son of Cruella attempting to wipe the chocolate from his mouth but ultimately failing to do so. Not wanting to answer his question, the pirate took it upon herself to change the subject. "Look if we're going to be working together in Auradon I'm prepared to call a truce."
"I'm in charge here," Mal interrupted the girl harshly, the pirate rolling her eyes at the daughter of Maleficents outburst. "I call the truce."
"You're in charge? Perfect." Gael mocked her giddily, clapping her hands together in mock glee. "That way if the plan goes wrong I can shift the blame to you."
"Let's take this seriously." Jay sighed as he hated the argument between the two, already becoming annoyed by the two nemesis' constant bickering and wanting to get it other with. "It's a quick job but regardless having you two argue will do nothing but ruin our plan. Gaston, lay your conditions down and lets get this over with.
"No insulting pirates, myself or the crew. No acting above the rest of us because I will not hesitate to put you in my place." Gael began to read off her conditions of the truce, the VK's nodding along to them as the vast majority they knew they could live with for a couple of days. Then Gael paused, a smirk forming her face before she looked directly at Mal. "Henceforth the name 'Shrimpy' is banned."
"Not happening."
"Mal..." Jay whispered to her, the girl sighing as she crossed her arms and nodded at Gael to continue.
"No casting magic spells on me unless I request or it's apart of the plan. You treat me like an equal while I'm here." Gael finished, the VKs sharing a content look as they nodded at the pirate ahead of them.
"I'm good with that." Evie told the girl with the smallest of smiles, briefly looking away from her mirror to address her before looking back at her mirror.
"Me too." Carlos agreed, Jay nodding before turning to Mal and giving her a look.
"Mal?" He asked, the daughter of the mistress of evil rolling her eyes before she looked out the window and scoffed.
"Fine." She muttered extending her hand for Gael to take which the pirate did after a moments hesitation. After one quick shake the two dropped each others hands, refusing to look at each other as they went back to pretending the other didn't exist.
"So what do you think it'll be like?" Evie posed the question, her thoughts drifting to how perfect Auradon would be and the things she would see and do.
"Bright, obnoxious and privileged." Gael answered quickly, Mal immediately agreeing with her as she attempted to turn off the bright light in the back of the limo.
For those who don't know the Son of Jafar first hand, it would be best for you to note that Jay was not a quiet individual. He was very outspoken, unafraid of anything and he would always try to prove that he was the best in the room. There were very few instances when the boy would sit quietly, lost in his thoughts but in this very instance he couldn't afford not to.
Going to Auardon and stealing the wand originally sounded like a fun job for him, an achievement that would lead him to being one of the most successful villains of all and would prove his worth to not only the Isle but to his father. But the longer he thought about it, the more he realised that the job would not be as simple as he had first assumed. Unbeknownst to anyone outside the VK's, Jay had experience with dealing with people from Auradon and had actually met one of their own Princes in his early years time and time again. He had actually become the Princes nemesis and Jay knew that going to Auradon and seeing the Prince again would bring more trouble to their plan, making it harder for them to steal the wand.
He couldn't let himself get distracted.
"Thinking about it now, its going to be a lot harder than I imagined." Jay spoke his thoughts aloud to the group, a frown settling on his face as he tried to think of various ways to get around the matter successfully but falling short of ideas.
"What makes you say that?"
"There's one person in Auradon we're bound to see and if I'm right, he's going to be keeping a watchful eye on us." Jay continued, the group (excluding Gael who knew nothing of the son of Jafars past with a Prince) gave Jay a worried look.
"You don't mean..."
"Ali you've been spotted!" Ronnie shouted up at Ali, who had just finished shoving a necklace into his bag when the guards around Ronnie began to chant his name. "Run!"
Ali reacted quickly, zipping up his bag before he began to run. He and Ronnie had once again been stealing in the marketplace, silently fighting for their cause as they tried to get anything they could without being spotted. Of course it was a lot harder for Ali, for Ronnie could literally turn into a fox and sneak around whereas he was limited to a cream coloured cloak to protect himself. Even then, his face was well know so it hadn't been a surprise that he was caught.
Although part of Ali wanted to be caught, wanted to escape the royal life and be himself.
He just had to keep one jump ahead of who they wanted him to be.
One jump ahead of authority
One skip ahead of my fate
Next time I'll just run away"
Ali managed to maneuver past some of the guards in the marketplace, creating a diversion as he threw rounded a corner and threw his cloak onto an unsuspecting villager before hiding behind a truck fall of barrels.
That was until he knocked the barrels off the truck and had to start running again.
"Come back your majesty!"
"Never!"
"One jump ahead of their 'Kingdom'
One hit ahead of their mould
I wish that they'd leave me alone"
Ali felt a bitter taste in his mouth, detesting the role they tried to give him. He understood his royal status more than anything but he deserved the chance to be normal as much as anyone else did. Taking part in stealing with Ronnie gave him the freedom he needed, the rebellion a normal teenager would have and made him feel like he wasn't a Prince anymore.
And he loved it!
"Disloyal!"
"Royal!"
"A calamity!"
"Tragedy!"
"Just let me be myself, guys." Ali begged the guards as he stood on top of a building, the guards closing in on him believing that they'd finally got him.
"You're the Prince, can't be a normal guy." The guards shouted back at him, Ali sighing as he looked at Amal on his shoulder and shook his head.
"I can take a hint, gotta face the facts, we're trapped in this life Amal." Ali said before he surprised the guards by jumping off the top of the building, landing on the balcony below before a sandbag hit the floor and he was pulled into the building to see the angered face of Ronnie.
"Well Ali you've finally hit the bottom. Only Royal guy here to do crime." Ronnie mocked him before she pushed against his chest and scoffed. "Don't you dare blame me you know my plan was flawless."
"Gotta rebel to be me, gotta be me to live. I'll apologise when we've got the time!" Ali said as he opened the door of the room and winked at Ronnie. "Come on Ronnie we're late!"
Ronnie chuckled Ali a spare hoodie, the Prince putting it on quickly as Amal moved herself to Ronnies shoulder and they left the building undetected. They had managed to sneak past the guards for a while, amking it to the edge of the marketplace whether they almost escaped.
That was until Ali dropped his hood.
"You idiot!" Ronnie screamed at him as the guards saw him and began running their way, pulling his hood back up before they began running to the dorms again. "One jump ahead of the slowpokes."
"One skip ahead of my doom." Ali groaned at the thought of continuing to be a Prince and having more responsibilities pile upon him when Ben became King.
"Next time just follow my plan you fool." Ronnie warned him as she pushed him down a dark alleyway as the guards ran past.
"Geez, sorry!" Ali laughed as they walked in the other direction, nearing the end of the marketplace again. "One jump ahead of my problems.."
"One step away from our goal." Ronnie told him happily as they walked passed a jewelry stool, Ali's eyes landing on a gold necklace on the edge.
"I think I'll go back and go for gold." Ali said as he went to grab the necklace, Ronnie instead grabbing his hand and pulling him towards the dormitories.
"I think the hell not!"
"Okay!" Ali laughed as they quickly ran to Ronnies dorm, dropping all their stolen goods into a box under their bed before speed walking to Auradon Prep. "Why are we in such a rush anyway?"
"They're arriving today remember," Ronnie reminded her business partner, shaking her head at his forgetfulness. "your little nemesis and his friends."
"Oh right, I forgot about that."
"Given your history," Ronnie drawled off as she looked at Ali's conflicted face. "what are you going to say to him?"
"I haven't given it much thought." Ali shrugged as they spotted the crowd of people in the distance that were awaiting the arrival of the villain kids. "But hey, I'm a street rat, remember?"
"Son of but proceed."
"I'll improvise."
"Time to slip." Ronnie told him as they hid behind a wall, hoping that no one in the crowd saw them together as Ali passed Ronnie back her cloak and smiled.
"Later Hood." He said before he walked into the crowd, maneuvering his way to the front where Ben was waiting with a relieved look on his face.
"Ali, where have you been?" Ben asked him, Ali not having time to answer before the Princess attached to Bens arm started speaking.
"We've heard rumours of a Street Rat in the marketplace but that could never be you could it Ally?" Audrey questioned him innocently, Ali holding a dumbfounded look on his face as he looked between her and Ben before rolling his eyes.
"You know I thought nicknames were supposed to shorten a name."
"Ali!" Ben warned him in a whisper, Ali holding his hands up in defense before laughing.
"Relax Bennyboo," Audrey said as she placed her head on his shoulder. "everything will be fine."
"Yeah Bennyboo," Ali mimicked Audrey on his other shoulder as he latched himself onto Ben. "we have it all sorted."
"Actually I forgot to tell you something Ali." Ben sighed safter a moment, Ali detaching himself from Ben before smiling.
"Oh what is it Prince Ben?" Ali asked in mock worry. "Did you send the wrong carriage to go get them?"
"Why would you mock him?" Audrey asked bitterly, Ali taking a deep breath before attempting to even look at Sleeping Beautys daughter.
"I'm his best friend," Ali smiled as he pretended to flick his hair. "it's what I do."
"Remember when I said I had sorted the dorms out for the villain kids..."
"Yeah they're going to be placed near my dorm so I can keep an eye on them." Ali reminisced what Ben had told him weeks ago, noting the guilty look on Bens face. "Why?"
"Well theres been a couple misunderstandings and now the villains sons have nowhere to dorm for a short while." Ben told his friend, Ali silently cursing under his breath as he took a step back from Ben and shaking his head.
"Oh no... don't tell me."
"Until their dorms are fixed they will be sharing their dorms with you." Ben rushed out, Ali's face draining of colour as they watched the limo drive into Auradons grounds.
Ali, by all accounts, was not prepared to see Jay again.
