A Name to Remember

"You know I'm getting really tired of your scrap." I said with a rather un-amused face as I stared at my cot. It kept falling with the weight of my mattress. I was ready to just throw it out and sleep on JUST the mattress, but apparently that's bad for me, according to Ratchet. At this point in time though, I didn't care. Throwing the cot in a corner of the giant vault, I made my bed again, all pretty as if I was some college student moving into their dorm for the first time, (no offense to college students, but you know it's pointless). Sighing, I decided to actually walk around and excersize.

"Hey Bee, how's it going?" he simply gave me a thumbs up and continued to go deeper in the base at his leisurely plod.

"What the... Huh, must not feel good or something." I found his action odd, since he usually at least says 'hello'.

I found my way to the main area, finding Raf, Jack and Miko up on the platform, but no one else seemed to be around.

"Hey guys, where is everyone? I passed Bee not to long ago."

"Hey!" Miko hollered, "Bulkhead and Arcee left to find some energon, Ratchet is somewhere and Optimus left as well, but on some sort of private business thing cause no one else went with."

"Huh... okay." I shrugged, and started my climb to them. "Anything interesting on the internet Raf?"

He looked up form his computer.

"Well, sorta... I found an article about you on a street racing website..."

"Ha, and what are you doing on that side of the dark side?" I chuckled.

"Well, I got curious about your racing persona. Ratchet said you called yourself Knockout when he first met you, so I guessed you go by that when racing."

"Yeah and ya guessed right kiddo! What'd you find?"

He turned his computer so I could see.

I looked at it, and saw a small article about me. It had my past races, well, my past races as Knockout. As I read further I noticed some conspiracy theories, and also that there was an ongoing hunt for my real identity...

"Hang on..." I took a closer look, "They haven't figured out my name yet?"

"Well, you've hidden it very well." Raf commented.

"All I've done is erase it from history. Then put it back as Knockout... without mentioning my actual name... and using a whole bunch of fake names throughout my life... Wow, I hid it without knowing."

"YOU USED FAKE NAMES?!" Miko hollered, "LIKE WHAT?!"

I had to think for a moment.

"Well... I've used Lucy... Elizabeth, Karen, Karmen, Eliza, Pinto,  Daisy, Calico, Kaylee... Some others too, but I can't remember them."

Miko stared in awe as I took Raf's computer. Typing in a website, I gave it back.

"Here, these guys go over a lot more, and also site their sources, so their credible."

         "Wow! Thanks!"

I looked over to Jack.

"So 'J'. How come you didn't go with your two-wheeler?" I smirked.

He only glared, making me chuckle. His hate for me was about as potent as Arcee's, perhaps more so since I've been using the nickname he gave me throughout my time here.

         "My name is Jack."

"Well done 'J'. You know your own name!" I applauded sarcastically.

He scoffed, and I chuckled. Who knew I would end up with a small rivalry with a kid!

Later I ended up talking about a bit of my past without Knockout. I didn't mention the "Blue Butterfly", or Tyson, or Brian. They didn't need to be mentioned... I slowly started to realize how much I needed to get out of there. With almost nothing to do, I was starting to think about my past... and it wasn't a very nice feeling.

"Are you okay?" Raf asked, to which I answered with a smile.

"Yeah, just a little antsy, and kinda lonely without my Devil Car."

I heard Jack scoff again.

"What's grinding your gears?" I smirked.

"The fact that everyone here seems to be absolutely fine about NOT know your name!" His outburst made Raf and Miko jump. "I mean, even Arcee doesn't seem to care!"

"Yes, that may be so. But it's not like you're asking a whole lot either."

"Well, better late then never," He walked over, as confident and angry as ever, standing over me as if I'd be intimidated, "What's your real name, Knockout."

For awhile I only stared, nonchalantly, as Raf and Miko stayed dead silent, both in anticipation and worry about what would happen next. I didn't want them to be in the middle of a fight if one broke out, not in fists of course, Jack's just a kid, but in words, so I got up and walked to the edge of the platform, sitting at the edge of the railing.

"Give me one good reason I should trust you with my name."

         "A name's a name." He fought.

"No, a name is sacred, it defines you. Megatron means tyranny to those who know him, Knockout: Narcissism, Starscream: traitor, Soundwave: silence and Breakdown: brute force. Street racers will sometimes hide their true names because of dark pasts they are connected to, or to simply hide their true selves. I'm known as Knockout to hide who I am, and to hide the secret all four of us hold. Though it was going to be the "Yellow Jacket", that changed, obviously."

"You're dodging the question!" Jack yelled.

"No, I'm telling you a truth that you currently don't want to hear."

"No, you're just telling me a bunch of scrap that I don't need to hear!"

"Jack calm down," Raf pleaded from his spot, "She doesn't need to tell us her name if she doesn't want to."

Jack turned to the little genius, ready to fight his statement.

"But she knows our names! How do we know she won't just do a search and find us! We'd be at the mercy of the Decepticons!"

"She wouldn't do that!" Raf hesitated in his confidence, "Would you?"

I gazed at the child solemnly, I wouldn't be able to do it, mainly because of Raf and Miko. That and Knockout's words still rang in my head.

"Tell me, would you betray the Autobots if they ended up having to take care of me?"

Though I don't think they'll end up taking care of Knockout, I'm going to listen to him... for once.

"No, I wouldn't." I smiled, "Guess you guys kinda grew on me."

Miko glared at Jack, who merely rolled his eyes. I chuckled a bit, and got off the railing, mentally claiming the conversation to be over. I was about to climb down the platform when I heard Jack yell at me again.

         "You're name!"

"You sound like Cinderella's prince when he first meets her, sheesh. So I'm gonna act like a princess nearing midnight and get outta here!"

I ran, laughing as Jack scowled, trying to burn a hole in my back as I disappeared into a hallway.

I found my way into the vault I called my room. It was the way I left it, but, me being me, I was antsy, and couldn't wait to go. So I packed the things that needed to be packed. Thanks to Raf, I had a small bag to put stuff in. amazingly, all that I wanted to take could fit, save for my bedding, now folded and ready to go. Then I became bored, and unpacked my stuff, putting everything back in a different order. This would be my routine for the last two weeks of my being here.

(HOI! Hope you like it! I don't know if I'll reveal your names to them or not quite yet... maybe... maybe not. If I used your name, IT WAS BY TOTAL COINCIDENCE! I just started to type names that came to mind. Thanks for reading!)
