A Burned-Out Candle Re-Lit

~???'s POV~

I'm... I'm opening my eyes... but... how?

Are these... my hands? They're robotic... No, they're Cybertronic, I recognize the technology. Why grey? That's hardly a color I would use.

Is this... a lab? Whose lab?

My memories... they're all here... but not all are mine. Oh. I see. But this is not their intention... (Y/N) doesn't know. Heh, she never had much luck with human guys, guess it only makes sense she found a mech. Knockout huh? Seems nice enough, a little on the mad doctor side, but I'm glad she found someone... Or... not... He stopped working on his project... it's been a week since anyone's seen her. Guess I have to find her myself.

I slowly got the hang of my new body, the mechanical parts working just fine, though they were stiff from not being used. My audio receptors worked well, and I could see perfectly, a bit of green light emanating from my optics as I started typing on a computer. I only knew it had been a week since (Y/N) hadn't been found because that's when the last data entry was made in the mechanical body I now resided in. Through deep research, I found that (Y/N) had been able to transfer her mind to a Cybertronian body. The memories that passed through, were downloaded, picked at, and separated, only certain memories being downloaded into this human sized replica... Is this? YES! Holoform technology! If I can download it, I might be able to make a holoformic skin! This is where I need (Y/N) and her computer know-how. That processor of hers can do WONDERS with any machine! For now I'll go with the beta testing... it seems to be the easiest to understand... cool, that's downloaded, though I can only use it for about half an hour before it expires... I'll use it wisely.

Jumping from the high console, I landed on the floor with a lite tapping of me human sized pedes. I found my way through the massive war ship, and to the third in command, Soundwave. I knew I could trust him, (Y/N) did, and so did Knockout. He finally saw me after I jumped my way up to the top of the computers he was working at, and seemed startled as he took a step back. I put a metal digit to my mouthless face.

"Havzzzt..." the voice box hadn't been used at all, "Coordinatzzzzzt... fi-i-ind... (Y/N)." I wasn't surprised that her name was the only thing that came out clearly.

Soundwave nodded, and I typed in the place I knew she would go, even though she practically hated it, it was a familiar place. Soundwave activated a groundbridge, and I thanked him through sign language, earning a nod in return. They're not kidding when they call him the Communications Officer... I went through, finding the woods to be quite peaceful as I listened to the slow thrum of owls, and other night creatures that bustled at this impossible hour.

It was a good 10 minutes until I reached my destination. I didn't want to alarm (Y/N), so I entered not very specific coordinates. I was glad of that after I found her enter through the water fall, the lake going deep into the Earth that it filtered into. I slowly made my way to the water fall, and only activated the holoformic skin when I was ready to confront her, the black leather jacket matching the dark blue jeans and black converse... This was either going to be a huge mistake, or it just might save her.

"You know..." My voice didn't crack this time, "It's almost traitorous, you coming back here."

I watched her turn abruptly, the light from her small lamp showing the fear, and confusion, and disbelief as she recognized me.

"I remember, you were five, and swore by our sibling bond you'd never come back here."

         "Roman?"

"Who else would know you would have come here?" I joked, and almost fell as (Y/N) attacked me, her fist coming dangerously close to my face.

         "N-no... Roman's DEAD! You're not him! HE'S DEAD!"

This might have been a mistake.

"(Y/N), it's me!" I tried to convince her as she ran at me, a knife in hand, "Would you stop and listen?!" It probably didn't help that I looked to be the exact age I was when I died... probably a bad choice on my part.

"Both my brothers are DEAD!" Her voice echoed, and I dodged another blow, but was trapped as (Y/N) pinned me to the wall of the cave. I saw the hurt in her big (E/C) eyes, the pain no one should have to go through, and I knew what I had to do to make her believe me.

"Sticks and stones, may break my bones, but Mom's words are-"

"Frick'in cyanide... Roman?" she asked for the second time, and I nodded my head slowly.

"Heya Speed Racer. I see you found your place in the world."

Her astonished expression slowly turned to one of joy as she started to laugh, lowering the knife from my neck, and sheathing it back into her cowboy boot, an old red flannel draping around her form, the blue jeans barely visible under the frayed edges.

"How the FRAG are you here? I-I saw you... I watched you..." She started to cry, and fell to the cave floor as she held her head, repeatedly saying sorry, and how it was her fault.

"No... it's mine." taking a seat beside her, I thought it was about time to tell her, "Here, feel this." I brought her hand to my chest, over where my heart should have been, "What do you feel?"

It took her a moment, but she answered after another few sniffs.

"Y-you're vibrating... it's kinda like a low pulsing hum..."

I nodded.

         "That's my spark."

She turned her head down in thought as she tried to make sense of it, only coming to a realization when she put her head to my chest, hearing the low hum.

         "But... what about..."

"I only had another few more days to live, my spark was to much for the human body it was stuck in even at it's weakened state. I wanted to live life to the fullest. While I didn't think I'd die hood surfing, it was better then what was going to come."

         "But..."

"I called Dad already... He'd be able to explain things a bit better. He's on his way as we speak."

         "YOU CALLED DAD?!"

And there's the resentful (Y/N) I know and love.

"Yes, some things he needs to... reveal. Other's you'll feel as if you had known, but never truly acknowledged. He came to me long before I had died, and explained everything... he had hoped you wouldn't have to deal with these things, the Cybertronians, the war, he wanted you safe from all that."

"He knew about... you... you knew about them?"

All I could do was watch as her processor was filled with questions, and no answers. She ended up having to get up and put her head under the cold running water as she tried to clear it.

"Dad... was never around... I was told it was because Mom beat him, as well as us, that's why we lived all the way out here in the woods," She said over the falling water, her head still under the continues stream of heavy liquid, "Is that true?"

For awhile, I gave her no answer, simply sitting in my spot. I didn't know if I should reveal much to her without Dad here, but (Y/N) just seemed so confused, and helpless as her head raced with an infinite of ideas. Trying to come up with an answer, I looked over to the giant Cybertronian femme, sitting patiently for it's next run around the block. It was (F/C) and (SecondF/C), and looked to be simply sleeping, but I knew it was technically brain-dead.

"I think we should wait for Dad... he's the one who lived his life, so he should be the one to explain it."

(Y/N) nodded, and sat back down next to me, now soaked and shivering as she drew the useless flanel closer to her body.

"S-s-so you ha-ad a spa-spark... Well... hav-ve." Her teeth chattered, and I wished the jacket I wore could come off.

"Yeah, you're boyfriend Knockout was working on this little project," I deactivated one arm, so that the gears and wires were revealed, "and I guess the accumulated memories he had downloaded into the human sized automaton accidentally pulled me from the Allspark."

"Fuh," (Y/N) started, "He's no boyfriend of mine. He lied to me."

"Sis, all guys lie," I chuckled, reactivating the arm skin, "And he did that to protect you. He knew you'd go after that Arachnid femme." She looked at me like I was some fortune teller, "You have no idea how much he talks to himself." I answered her silent question, making her laugh as she started to warm up. "I would have done the same thing, knowing you and your taste for revenge. Remember 'Little Poncho'? You hunted down that stuffed dog, and when you found him being pulled apart by the school bully, man he was in the hospital three days later, and stayed there an entire week!"

"Hey, I loved that stuffed dog!" She laughed, making me laugh as she punched my shoulder.

Soon we were both just staring at the waterfall, her head leaning on my shoulder as she slowly drifted to sleep. I hoped Dad would come soon, and explain everything so I didn't have to. Though one thing's for sure, when he does get here, he won't be to pleased with (Y/N)'s knowing of Cybertronian profanity. Though the best reaction will be if he doesn't know about her line of work.

(Ta-da! Roman's back! And you get to meet your father! Yay! Thanks for reading! Love ya'll!)
