Chapter 5
Is he the one?
In the picture: Saya and David
Saya Pov
I stood in front of the mirror, admiring the green satin dress that clung to my curves just right. The deep emerald hue complemented my skin tone, and the fabric shimmered under the soft lighting of my apartment. My hair was styled in loose braids that cascaded over my shoulders, a touch of elegance that my makeup artist had complimented so sincerely. I touched up my makeup, a final stroke of confidence before the evening began.
The sound of the doorbell jolted me from my thoughts. My heart skipped a beat as I glanced at the clock—David was right on time. I took one last look at my reflection and walked to the door, excitement bubbling up inside me.
When I opened the door, I was met with a sight that took my breath away. David stood there, impeccably dressed in a sleek black suit that accentuated his tall, lean frame. His black hair was styled in a slicked-back fashion, adding to his polished look. As his eyes widened with admiration, they roamed over me, taking in every detail of my appearance.
"Wow, Saya," he said, his voice filled with genuine awe. "You look absolutely stunning. That dress is perfect on you, and your braids, beautiful. Just... wow."
Truth - 100%
I smiled, feeling a warm flush spread across my cheeks. I glanced up at the stats hovering above his head, and the truth status felt comforting. My heart swelled with happiness, knowing that his compliments were as sincere as they seemed.
David took my hand, helping me into the back of the black Rolls Royce that waited outside. The car was as elegant as his suit, its interior plush and luxurious. As we settled in, he continued to shower me with compliments, making me feel like a princess.
"Seriously, Saya, I'm so glad we're doing this. You're even more gorgeous than I remembered."
His words, dripping with sincerity, felt like a balm to my troubled soul. I couldn't help but revel in the genuine admiration he was showing me.
The ride to the restaurant was filled with light-hearted conversation and laughter. David was charming and attentive, and I found myself drawn to him even more. As we arrived at the restaurant, a high-end place known for its exclusivity and breathtaking views of the city, David opened the door for me and guided me inside.
The ambiance was perfect—soft, romantic lighting and the gentle clinking of fine china created an intimate atmosphere. We were led to a secluded table by the window, offering a stunning view of the city skyline.
Over dinner, we indulged in delicious food and engaging conversation. The dialogue was effortless, a blend of playful banter and heartfelt confessions.
"So, Saya," David began, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "What's the most outrageous thing you've ever done on a whim?"
I laughed, swirling the wine in my glass. "Oh, that's a tough one. Maybe it was deciding to go skydiving on a random Tuesday. I'm not sure if it was outrageous or just impulsively stupid."
"Skydiving, huh? That's pretty bold. I've always admired your adventurous spirit."
"And what about you?" I asked, leaning forward. "What's your most spontaneous act?"
He considered this for a moment before replying with a smirk. "I once flew to Paris just to surprise a friend. I didn't even have a plan beyond showing up at her door. It was a bit crazy, but it was worth it to see the look on her face."
I laughed hearing his stories and as the evening progressed, the conversation became more personal, filled with shared dreams and desires. David's hand brushed against mine, and I noticed his heartbeat quickening.
Love - 50%
The love status above his head climbed steadily. The sight thrilled me, knowing that he was genuinely developing feelings for me.
David took a deep breath, his eyes locking with mine.
"Saya, I've wanted to tell you something for a while now. I've had my eye on you for a long time. I just never thought someone as incredible as you would ever be interested in someone like me."
I felt a rush of happiness at his confession.
"David, I'm really glad you asked me out. I've enjoyed every moment with you tonight."
David's face lit up with relief and joy.
"I was so worried after the movie and the NBA match that you might not want to see me again. I'm on cloud nine just being here with you."
His sincerity was palpable, and I could see the truth status above his head remaining positive.
"I think you're really my type too, David." I reached out, clasping his hand in mine.
Our connection deepened as we flirted and shared more intimate thoughts. The night was filled with laughter and warmth, and as the evening came to a close, David suggested heading to his apartment. My heart raced with anticipation, and I agreed, eager to see where the night would lead.
When we arrived at David's apartment, he guided me inside with a gentle touch that sent a shiver of anticipation down my spine. His place was just as I imagined—sophisticated and comfortable, a perfect reflection of his polished style. We settled onto the plush sofa, the city lights casting a soft glow through the large windows. As we talked, I felt completely at ease, our conversation flowing naturally.
David shared stories about his basketball selection days, his voice animated and filled with passion. His enthusiasm was contagious, and I found myself laughing along with him, lost in the warmth of the moment. As he spoke, he shifted closer to me, and I felt a pleasant tension in the air.
Then, without warning, he placed his hand on my thigh, sending a jolt of electricity through me. I looked up to find him staring at my lips, his eyes dark and intense. The air around us seemed to thicken, and my heart raced in my chest. I could feel the heat rising between us, the atmosphere charged with unspoken desire.
I waited, holding my breath, as he leaned in slowly, his gaze never leaving mine. The world around us seemed to blur, fading into the background as the distance between our lips narrowed. The anticipation was almost unbearable, and then, finally, his lips met mine in a soft, tentative kiss. It was gentle at first, a sweet exploration, but the spark between us quickly ignited into something more.
David's hand slid up my thigh, sending a thrill through me. I responded eagerly, my hands finding their way to his shoulders, pulling him closer. Our kiss deepened, filled with a hunger that had been simmering beneath the surface all evening. The world outside ceased to exist; it was just the two of us, wrapped in this moment of intense connection.
He pulled back slightly, his breath hot against my lips.
"Saya," he murmured, his voice husky with desire. "You're so beautiful."
I smiled, touched by the sincerity in his voice. "David," I whispered back, "I want this. I want you."
That was all the encouragement he needed. In one swift motion, he scooped me up into his arms and carried me to the bedroom. My heart pounded with a mix of excitement and nerves, but any lingering doubts melted away as he laid me gently on the bed. The room was dimly lit, the soft glow casting shadows that danced across the walls.
David joined me on the bed, his movements slow and deliberate, as if savoring every second. He hovered above me, his eyes searching mine for any sign of hesitation. I reached up, cupping his face in my hands, and pulled him down into another kiss. This time, it was more urgent, our passion igniting like a wildfire.
His hands roamed over my body, caressing and exploring, leaving a trail of warmth wherever they touched. I arched into his touch, my body responding to him with an intensity that took me by surprise. He whispered sweet words against my skin, his voice a soothing balm that only heightened the sensation.
As our clothes fell away, the heat between us grew unbearable. Every touch, every kiss, every whispered word sent us spiraling further into a whirlwind of desire. Our bodies moved together in a seamless dance, each of us attuned to the other's needs. The world outside ceased to exist; there was only the two of us, wrapped in the blissful haze of passion.
In that moment, everything felt perfect. There was no room for doubts or fears, only the overwhelming sense of connection and intimacy that bound us together. David's touch was gentle yet commanding, his kisses tender yet filled with an unmistakable hunger. I lost myself in the sensations, every nerve ending alive with pleasure.
As we reached the peak of our passion, time seemed to stand still. The world faded away, leaving only the two of us, lost in each other. It was a moment of pure, unadulterated bliss, a culmination of all the tension and desire that had been building between us. When it was over, we lay together, our bodies intertwined, the afterglow of our lovemaking a warm cocoon that enveloped us both.
David held me close, his breath slowing as he whispered sweet nothings into my ear. I felt a deep sense of contentment wash over me, a feeling of being exactly where I was meant to be. His hand traced lazy patterns on my back, and I closed my eyes, savoring the sensation.
As I drifted off to sleep, my last thought was of how perfect everything felt and eventually, we fell asleep together.
The sunlight streaming through the curtains woke me gently. I stretched, feeling the pleasant ache of the night before, and snuggled closer to David. He was still asleep, his face peaceful and relaxed. I smiled, feeling a swell of affection for him.
I was lying on his chest, feeling a deep sense of contentment. But as I glanced at the stats above his head, I noticed something unsettling.
Life span - 30%
A noticeable drop from the previous night of 40%. Panic surged through me as I realized what this could mean.
I carefully disentangled myself from David's embrace and dressed quickly. My mind raced with confusion and fear.
Why had his lifespan decreased?
What had happened during the night?
Kylie arrived to pick me up, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Well, well, look who had a good night. You look like you're glowing!"
I forced a smile, but my anxiety was too overwhelming. "Let's just go home, Kylie."
She sensed my distress and, once we were back at my apartment, her teasing demeanor shifted to concern. "Okay, what's wrong? You're not your usual self. Did something happen?"
I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. "It's David. Something weird happened last night."
Kylie's eyes widened. "What do you mean?"
I explained everything—the stats I saw, David's dropping lifespan, and how I felt about our night together. Kylie listened intently, her expression thoughtful.
"So, you're saying David's lifespan dropped by 10% overnight?" she asked, her brow furrowed.
"Yes," I said, nodding. "I don't understand why. Everything seemed fine."
Kylie took a moment to consider. "I have a theory. What if the stats you're seeing are only related to how others' actions or feelings impact you, I mean only you? Like, if someone is lying to you or has strong emotions about you, you see their stats reflecting that. Maybe David's lifespan drop is related to your involvement with him."
I stared at her, trying to process her deduction. "Are you saying that my being with David might have affected his lifespan?"
Kylie nodded. "It's possible. Your stats seem to be a reflection of how interactions with others influence you. If you're deeply involved with someone, their stats might shift in response to that connection, uh fate, destiny, I guess..."
I was overwhelmed by the implications. "But why would his lifespan drop like that? And how do I fix it?"
Kylie shrugged sympathetically. "I don't have all the answers, Saya. But maybe understanding how your presence impacts others could give you some insight. It's clear that your relationship with David is important, but it might be worth exploring how to manage these interactions better."
The weight of Kylie's words sank in. I had to find a way to understand and possibly remedy the situation. The thought of David's lifespan decreasing because of me was distressing, and I was determined to get to the bottom of it.
For now, I needed to focus on myself and how to navigate these strange new insights. Kylie's support was a comfort, and I knew I wasn't alone in this journey. As I faced the unknown, I resolved to approach it with the same courage and curiosity that had guided me through so much already.
