Minseo and Yejun
Part 5 of the SKZ with babies series
Pairing: Kim Seungmin x Hwang Hyunjin x Seo Changbin
Genre: Fluff
Warning: Includes mild spoilers for „We are Stray Kids"
Seungmin stepped out of the red tinted portal behind him. Before him stood the massive form of a castle. The wide, yet dark windows and black bricks gave it an eerie vibe, but it did not faze Seungmin. Not anymore. Though, he will note that he will never understand the dramatic and almost creepy flare of castles built by ancient vampires. Couldn't they just build nice, beautiful dream castles? No, they had to make it "feature-able" for horror movies.
The demon huffed, cradling the basket in his arms closer to his chest. He knew his entire upper body was going to be sore tomorrow, but there wasn't another option. He had to carry two babies - well, they could already be called toddlers - to his home alone in the most subtle manner he could manage. Solution? An old fashioned pick-nick basket big enough to fit two soundly sleeping 'multibrids'.
Why did Seungmin need to be subtle? Unlike most of his friends he did not pitch his 'surprise baby' plan to his fiancés, even when he thought it had failed. He was the one to keep his word. The only thing he had not calculated into this plan was the fact that he had not one baby, but two. This was an unforeseeable turn of events, but he wouldn't be Kim Seungmin if he didn't figure it out.
He took a deep breath and walked towards the castle, the portal closing behind him. The red magic dashed from the portal towards the castle, pushing against the grand metal-enforced ebony door. Without making one sound it opened, welcoming Seungmin into his home of a few years. Neither Changbin nor Hyunjin were currently in sight, which wasn't unusual. They had busy schedules just like Seungmin.
After all, Changbin, the current vampire king, had a whole species of supernaturals to rule, diplomatic meetings to attended and probably a ton of other kingly duties that were boring enough to that king left them out of the dinner table conversation they shared each night.
Hyunjin had become a teacher for supernaturals and specialized in siren and underwater combat. On the side he was also a dance coach and more often than not helped Changbin with diplomatic affairs, since over the years he had perfected using his natural abilities as a siren to advocate peace and bring calmness to a room if discussion got to heated. In short, he liked to keep himself busy, which was something he had in common with his mother.
Seungmin walked further into the castle. The castle's door shut behind him, letting a deep clicking sound echo through the hall as it locked itself. It was a wonder the twins did not wake up from this, but part of Seungmin suspected it was a magic induced sleep. After all, it was a bit suspicious that all the babies got tired at the same time. He was pretty sure they didn't usually work like that.
The demon's arms started actively protesting about the weight he had been clinging onto for far too long. He could have used a spell on the basket, he could have just used a levitation spell, a levitation rune, but no. The babies already had to go through the portal, he would use magic to hold them up just because it was more comfortable for him. So, he made way straight for the living room.
The castle's main living room - yes, it had multiple - was almost unnecessarily big. The ceiling was high enough for Byungho to be able to fly, the chandler dangling over the red leather couches was decorated with way too many red crystals for Seungmin's taste and the fire place was tall and wide enough to fit two people. But Seungmin should not complain because Changbin, Hyunjin and him had bought a TV fitting for the size of living room. It had been a complicated work to install a TV in a castle build in another century by old fashioned vampires, but it was worth it. Movie nights were a regular occurrence.
Seungmin moved to one of the red leather couches and set the basket down with the uttermost care. The white blanket covering the top rustled a bit when it brushed against the backrest. It was cheesy detail, almost, but how else was he supposed to cover the twins. He will not use magic on them directly. There was no way he would risk hurting them, or destabilizing their magic.
With a big sigh Seungmin settled down on the couch himself. He was sitting close to the basket, his eyes never leaving the white blanket. Was it too much? Wait, could they even breath under neath the blanket?
In a panic, Seungmin ripped the blanket off the basket, his magic surging forward, scanning the twins for any kind of problem, but there was nothing. The demon was meat with his two kids peacefully sleeping beside each other, their small chests rising and falling in a steady rhythm.
"Oh, thank every good spirit," Seungmin breathed out, slumping against the cushions of the couch. His hand slapped itself onto his face when he realized that he had just spoiled himself with his frantic scan. Well, he couldn't erase his knowledge now. He only pitied his daughter for having to grow up with three dads and a twin brother. Well, at least she will have a fantastic female role model in Ms. Hwang.
What was he supposed to do now? Just wait for his fiancés to come home? Probably. There was not much else he could do. The kids were sleeping and he won't pop the big news until after Hyunjin and Changbin got home from work. Just calling them and telling them they were parents now was just rude.
As he was sunken in thought, Seungmin's gaze drifted back towards the basket. The twins continued to sleep soundly, though, the boy, whose hair was black and horns just a smaller, stubbier version of Seungmin's own, started to babble nonsense. His eyes remained close, and despite babies being known for babbling nonsense, the sounds seemed slurred as if he was just talking in his sleep. His sister did not seem to mind.
Seungmin chuckled softly at the small boy just babbling gibberish. He had been the quieter and more subdued one of the two, if he remembered correctly. The girl, on the other hand, had been the one to plainly stare at Seungmin while the other babies cried. She had also been the one, who had somehow managed to calm the other toddlers down, therefore, had given Seungmin the opportunity to think and call the other parents. It was not far fetched to say that she must be quite smart and confident. Maybe even more than average for her very young biological age.
The thought that the twins could turn out to be polar opposites didn't sound too absurd. Hopefully, they would still somehow complete each other. It would open the opportunity of them becoming a super good team because of it. She could become smart, confident, yet a bit too eager and her twin brother could be calm, collected, yet anxious. They could ground and encourage each other. He the calmness to her storm and she the courage to his fear.
The demon caught himself off guard by imagining what the two will be like in the future and who they will grow up to be. It had brought a soft smile onto his face without him even noticing. Seungmin tried to mentally wrestled the smile off his face and remind himself that they were biologically only 11 months old and existed for a mere day. He should think about the here and now and not the far future, but to everything good did it make him happy. It was just this weird, yet pleasant warmth that spread through his chest whenever his mind just glazed over the thought.
Admittedly, it was very similar to how he felt with Changbin and Hyunjin. Whenever he was with them this sense of belonging flowed through him. They were his home, his place to be. There was no other way to describe it. He just loved them, and would do anything for them. If Hyunjin wanted the moon as a wedding gift, Seungmin would find a way to give it to him. If Changbin asked him to be the king of the vampires in his steed, he would do in a heartbeat, even if it meant giving up his passion for spell science and magic.
The demon reached out his hand, laying it on the rim of the basket just a small movement away from the baby boy's cheek. The boy still babbled on and on. There was no end to the slurred tale he was telling in baby language. Seungmin had half a mind to cast the next best translation spell just to see what the words bubbling from the boy's lips meant. Was he dreaming? Was it a good dream? He seemed rather relaxed and content, so it couldn't be a nightmare.
"I hope you know how adorable you are," Seungmin mumbled absentmindedly, gently poking the boy's cheek. The small boy giggled in his sleep and started wiggling. With his eyes still closed, he reached out and wrapped his little hand around Seungmin's pointer finger. The demon blinked in surprise as the small boy settled down again, his babbling stopping as he just held onto Seungmin's finger and continued to sleep.
Warmth blossomed in Seungmin's chest. Familiar and so incredibly warm. To everything Good and Great he was so screwed. He bowed his head down, staring at the sofa's cushion between his body and the basket. The warmth spread through his whole body, slow and pleasant while his hand remained absolutely still to not jostle the boy holding onto his finger.
The babies continued to sleep peacefully while Seungmin tried not to turn into a puddle of mush right then and there. He knew now that the spell and magical work had functioned perfectly well, even better than he had originally anticipated. Why? He knew those two babies for less than a day, yet he would do anything to protect them, to keep them safe and far away from harm. He loved them like a parent should love their children. He was also convinced that his body was currently overproducing all kinds of happy hormones. It was a testament to how well his little project had worked. His whole being was convinced that those were his children. They were biologically Changbin, Hyunjin and his children, of course, but somehow the magic had even established an emotional bond as soon as Seungmin had laid eyes on them.
"I already hate how much power you two have over me," Seungmin chuckled softly to himself. He raised his head, looking back into the basket. The twins were still sleeping, not hearing a word. The soft smile tugging at Seungmin's lips was not stopped this time. The demon gently pressed his thump against the boy's - no - his son's hand, feeling the soft, squishy skin. His whole hand was fully wrapped around just one of Seungmin's fingers. Gods, he was so small.
"You're both so tiny, my goodness," the demon breathed out, his eyes softening even further while he looked at his two children. Was it even normal to feel so much love for a being you knew less than a day? Had his parents felt like this when they looked at him for the first time? Or had he been greeted with his father's signature smirk and a distasteful look from his mother?
He shook his head, banning the question from his mind. Surely, it had been different for him. He was a full blood demon. His father was the devil himself and his mother the queen of hell. When he was born on earth he was greeted different, probably not with the amount of love currently residing within Seungmin. And he didn't even want to know why. No. The only thing he wanted was be a good father to the twins.
"Changbin-hyung and Hyunjin will love you even more than I do, I'm sure," Seungmin whispered to the sleeping twins. The little girl let out a small, content sigh, while, her brother tugged at Seungmin's pointer finger ever so slightly, yet, both continued to sleep peacefully. The demon lowered his hand into the basket, letting it rest on the baby boy's belly, so he could hold onto Seungmin's pointer finger more comfortably.
The demon felt his son's breathing underneath his palm. Warm and alive. Content and safe. He was so soft and vulnerable, as if a tad bit too much force would suffice to completely break him. It was scary and fascinating, but more than anything it just woke and enhanced Seungmin's protective instincts tenfold.
The gods shall have mercy on the poor soul that would dare lay a hand on the children of Kim Seungmin.
A low screech ripped Seungmin out of his thoughts and threw him back into the present. His magic flared up the second he realized that he could not move with his pointer finger being held captive by his son. Would he fight without moving an inch? Oh, yes he would. He did not study magic for nothing.
Yet, he realized his mild panic was an overreaction, the second he recognized the voices of his fiancés. They were laughing in the entrance hall of the castle, a low screech and thump indicating the closing of the entrance door.
Seungmin let himself calm down with the distant voices of his fiancés until he realized that maybe he should have prepared himself better for what was to come. He was sitting in the main living room with a basket with two babies and could not move to greet them because one of said babies was holding onto his right pointer finger.
"Seungminnie? Are you already home?," Changbin called out, his voice a lot closer to the living room now than it was beforehand. Seungmin mentally pushed all doubt down and away. He had started the baby experiment for them, he would not chicken out now. So, he took a breath, his right thump subconsciously stroking his son's belly.
"Yeah, I'm in the main living room," the demon answered as casually as possible. He heard Hyunjin's quickened steps and Changbin following behind him. It was almost comical how Changbin walked much heavier than Hyunjin despite being shorter, but it was probably a kind thing at this point. Maybe he would have to learn it before their wedding.
Sure enough, Changbin and Hyunjin entered the living room. The taller of the two immediately smiled when he made eye contact with Seungmin and skipped over to the demon, not having spotted the basket beside his fiancé yet.
"Glad to see you home so ... soon," the siren trailed off as he stood almost behind Seungmin. His gaze fixated on the basket that had previously been covered by Seungmin's body, but now laid open in front of him. He could see the two babies inside and how one of them was holding onto Seungmin's pointer finger.
With his brows frowned at Hyunjin's strange reaction and Seungmin's nervous glance between them, Changbin walked over stopping beside the siren.
Seungmin swallowed thickly as his two fiancés just stared into the basket, their expressions unreadable. The silence was almost suffocating and the demon's brain was scrambling for words to say and explanations to give, but he came up empty. His throat felt dry and his lips seemed sealed shut. Had he made a mistake? Should he have talked to them about it first? Was he stupid to make it a surprise? Probably. He should have known that it was a terrible idea to surprise his partners with the twins no matter how long they have been whining about wanting kids.
The demon forced his mouth open to blurt out an apology, but stopped in his tracks when Hyunjin rounded the sofa to get closer to the basket. A soft smile had formed on his lips as he squatted down next to the sofa, still watching the two babies.
"Do they have names?," Hyunjin asked, voice so incredibly warm, Seungmin's heart skipped two beats.
"Not yet," the demon answered in a whisper. Hyunjin turned his gaze away from the two babies and looked at Seungmin, lovingly dark brown eyes shimmering with his siren ocean blue.
"They are adorable," Hyunjin breathed out when he looked back at the twin. It shot warmth up Seungmin's face and he had no clue why. It wasn't a compliment directed at him, not all.
"I would ask where you picked them up, but the amount of magic just casually radiating off them, makes me think of your lab," Changbin chuckled lowly. The vampire king had lowered himself too. His arms were resting on the back of the sofa. He was still wearing his crown. The blood red metal with the obsidian stones was nestled comfortably on Changbin's raven hair. It had looked so weird to see him wear it at first, but now it was like second nature.
"Wait, wait, wait," Hyunjin's voice let Seungmin's gaze drift over to the siren only to have the slightly taller male already stare into his eyes. "Minnie, did create these two magically?," he asked.
Seungmin blinked at the taller male and then nodded dumbly. He had somehow lost all words.
At the answer Hyunjin's eyes lit up, the ocean blue shimmer increasing. "So, are they ours?," the siren inquired and again Seungmin merely nodded. His brain somehow had a hard time comprehending this situation.
Hyunjin's head snapped to Changbin, eyes glowing. "Hyung, we are dads," the siren beamed. Changbin, just like Seungmin, seemed to have trouble truly taking everything in, but for entirely different reasons. The vampire king had a profound knowledge of magic in theory and he knew of Seungmin incredible magical talents, but had the demon really bend all the rules and played god by creating life? And it had worked?
"Holy shit, we are," Changbin whispered to himself. Meanwhile, Hyunjin was almost vibrating with joy, a wide smile stretched over his lips. He literally sprung up, jumping a few times in sheer excitement until Changbin reminded him that he shouldn't wake the little ones. That was enough to get the siren to calm down in an instant.
Seungmin watched his fiancés being obviously overjoyed and felt relief wash through him. They liked the twin, because of course they did. Why had he ever doubted that.
"Minnie, you are simply amazing," Hyunjin complimented the demon before pressing a kiss to the redhead's cheek. It only increased the heat that was pooling in the demon's head and he was still lost for words. Changbin merely chuckled at his fiancés.
"Oh, they need names. Like now," Hyunjin declared, standing up straight, "I will get the name list." With that said the siren marched off towards the three fiancés' shared bedroom. Seungmin watched him go before he was distracted by a small kiss pressed to his temple. The demon looked at his vampire fiancé and was greeted with a peek on the lips.
"I guess, I now know what your secret project was," the vampire chuckled cheekily. Normally, Seungmin would retort something but his whole face was red, he could not move because his hand was held captive by their baby boy and his brain must have shut down at some point. There was not a single thought in his mind. Just images and impressions of what was happening right now.
His right cheek burned where Hyunjin had kissed him and he still felt the ghost of Changbin's lips on his left temple and his lips. He felt the small movement caused by their son's breathing underneath his right palm and how the baby boy held onto his right pointer finger. He felt the numbness creeping up his legs from not moving for no one knew how long and the warmth that had spread through the entirety of his being. And he was acutely aware of him staring at Changbin's face while the vampire's smirk widened and widened.
"You look a bit out of your element, Minnie," Changbin chuckled, resting his chin on his folded arms. Seungmin blinked and decided the would no longer give the vampire the benefit of looking directly at his face, so he focused his gaze back onto the twins, who were still asleep despite the commotion.
Changbin was not having that. He freed one of his hands and gently grabbed hold of Seungmin's chin and wordlessly coaxed the demon to look at him again. The touch felt hot on the redhead's skin and when dark eyes met black ones, Seungmin was reminded exactly why he wanted to marry the vampire.
The ravenet's black eyes shimmered with warmth and empathy and so much love. There was no trace of his Red Glow in sight. He was entirely relaxed, not a hint of the Red Glow's control there. Despite there being a sudden and major change in their life, he was not stressed, not even a little bit worried. He just loved and trusted Seungmin and the decision he had essentially made on behalf of all three of them unconditionally.
"Thank you, Seungmin," Changbin whispered, his voice almost inaudible, yet so sincere and loving. The demon just wanted to melt. He leaned forward a bit, gently knocking his head against Changbin's being ever so careful with the black horns sitting a top of his head.
"There is nothing to thank me for. It's our family now, isn't it," Seungmin managed to murmur. Changbin let out a small chuckle, his black eyes shining with soft, warm emotions.
"I love you, Kim Seungmin," the vampire softly declared, nudging Seungmin's nose with his own. Maybe, if Seungmin wasn't already feeling so warm and mushy on the inside, he would have metaphorically melted further.
"I love you too, Seo Changbin," Seungmin returned the words and with a small surge of confidence, tilted his head to properly kiss his vampire fiancé. To Changbin it was almost instinct to immediately kiss back, his hands wandering up to Seungmin's cheeks, cupping them gently.
They pulled apart at the sound of Hyunjin jumping down the last steps of the stairs. Not long after the siren appeared in the living room, smiling knowingly when he saw his two lovers still so close together. Though, he left it uncommented and instead raised the small folder in his hand that was filled with baby names.
"I got the name list," the siren singsonged as he settled down beside Seungmin, his head dropping onto the redhead's shoulder as he opened the folder in his lap. Changbin let go of Seungmin in order to properly join his fiancés on the sofa, settling on Hyunjin's free side. The siren was already skimming through the various lists included in the folder.
"Do we know their sex, by the way?," Hyunjin asked, absentmindedly stretching his neck to place a small, innocent kiss on Seungmin's throat. The demon's brain short circuited for a moment. Had his two lover made some sort of deal to just kill Seungmin with affection today? He ripped himself out of the small daze, though.
"The little redhead is a girl, the little one, who is holding onto my finger is a boy," Seungmin answered. Hyunjin hummed in thought, going back to skimming over the lists.
"Aera would be a pretty name for our daughter," Changbin chimed in. Seungmin love how he said 'our daughter'. Hyunjin seemed to mull that idea over in his head.
"I think Sua would fit her better, though," Hyunjin said. Seungmin raised an eyebrow at the siren while Changbin chuckled.
"Sua means beautiful waters, doesn't it?," Seungmin asked and Hyunjin nodded proudly. In all honesty, I should not have been a surprise that the siren would like a name with a water-based meaning.
Seungmin rolled his eyes at his fiancé and started to scan the list of names for himself. His eyes quickly fell onto the name 'Minseo' with the meaning of clever and calm. A small smile made his way onto his lips again. The name would fit her really perfectly.
"Minseo is a nice name," Seungmin proposed his idea. Both Hyunjin and Changbin scanned the list, searching for the name Seungmin had mentioned until they found it. Hyunjin looked at the name a bit critically while Changbin smiled as well.
"I think it would fit her," Changbin agreed with Seungmin. Hyunjin seemed to think it over a bit longer, biting his lip ever so lightly in concentration.
"I agree, but then we should call our son 'Yejun' because he will grow up to be the most talented and handsomest boy of all," the siren declared, puffing out his chest. It made his two fiancés chuckle.
"Well, he has your genes, handsome," Changbin teased, grinning when Hyunjin avoided his gaze by burying his face in Seungmin's neck. The demon laughed lightly as the siren's breath tickled him.
"So, Minseo and Yejun?," Seungmin asked for clarification, his eyes looking between his two fiancés. Changbin nodded and so did Hyunjin, though, Seungmin felt his answer more than he saw it with the siren's longish black hair moving against the exposed skin of his neck.
After the small clarification, Seungmin felt a bit more pressure on his pointer finger. When he looked back into the basket at his hand, he was met with two pairs of eyes looking at him. The small boy, who was now clinging onto Seungmin's pointer finger, laughed at the puzzled look in his demonic father's eyes.
Changbin and Hyunjin, intrigued by their fiancés' frozen state, looked past the demon down to the twins. Their baby girl immediately noticed, raising her small arms and making grabby hands towards them.
"My gods, she has Seungmin's hair, Changbin's eyes and my beauty mark," Hyunjin breathed out. Changbin stood up from his position on the other end of the sofa to walk over to the basket and lift Minseo into his arms. The little girl seemed very content when Changbin held her.
Yejun, having noticed his twin's newfound content in the arms of their vampirc father, used his free hand to copy her grabby hand gesture towards Seungmin. The redhead blinked at his son before understanding and carefully putting the small boy into his arms without forcing him to let go of his pointer finger. Hyunjin cooed at the little boy when Seungmin adjusted his position.
Changbin sat down on Hyunjin's free side again. Minseo did not lose any time and put her little hands on Hyunjin's arm, patting him clumsily.
"Does Minseo want my attention too?," the siren cooed, looking at the little girl. She just continued to pat the siren's arm, making Changbin chuckle.
"I think she is more of hitting you," the vampire huffed, bouncing the baby girl a bit. She stopped patting Hyunjin's arm, but her black eyes stared at the same spot as if she was just waiting for the bouncing to stop.
"I don't think she would do that," Hyunjin defended his daughter, patting her head gently, "She loves me too much for that, I am sure."
Seungmin huffed endeared while Yejun played with his engagement ring, not paying much attention to his twin sister or other fathers. Apparently the silver ring with the red gems that adored Seungmin's ring finger was much more interesting.
"Sure, sure. Just please don't start to call her 'princess' nonstop," Changbin joked and then he froze. Hyunjin and Seungmin blinked at their lover in confusion until it hit them that it may not be appropriate to call Minseo 'princess' as a nickname, but it would become her title soon enough.
"Oh, to the gods, I think we need to push the wedding up a bit," Changbin chuckled, a bit nervously. While Hyunjin laughed loudly.
"It will be a fun week. First the vampires need to accept their new non-vampire monarchs and then their non-vampire crown prince and princess," Hyunjin cackled, leaning onto Changbin, who scowled at the siren, yet did not pull away.
"Well, they are part vampire. After all, they are multibrids. One third vampire, one third siren and one third demon," Seungmin commented to which Hyunjin bursted out laughing again while Changbin looked entirely unimpressed.
"Our wedding and coronation ceremony will be fun," Hyunjin chuckled, still leaning onto Changbin, who merely sighed in defeat.
"This is Jisung acceptance process all over again but with four people," the vampire king groaned to which Minseo giggled, causing Hyunjin fall into a fit of laughter again.
"Even Minseo thinks it's funny," Seungmin chuckled, earning him a glare from his vampire fiancé. Yejun ignored all the ruckus going on around him, too focused on Seungmin engagement ring.
"Either way, it will be work and I hope you are all prepared for that," the vampire king clarified, looking at his two fiancés and also his two kids.
"Of course we will be," Seungmin smiled and Hyunjin nodded in agreement.
