Chan was humming to himself while rearranging some pillows to surround the sleeping baby that was laying in the middle of his bed. He still couldn't stop smiling at his sleeping daughter. She was simply beautiful with her head full of silver curls and not to mention the cute black wings on her back. They were essentially a smaller version of Byungho's, yet Chan had no doubt that one day the tiny wings of his daughter would grow just has big as the ones of her other father.
The tiny wings twitched when the little baby girl shifted a bit to get more comfortable. Chan had to suppress the urge to coo as the little girl scrunched up her nose before settling into the pillows more comfortable and falling back into a deep slumber. By all the gods, there was no denying how much Chan already loved her.
As a wolf hybrid, Chan had always liked the idea of having his own family and a pack-like circle of friends. He got the latter when his group Stray Kids was formed, but settling down and having a family was a bit more complicated when your husband was a literally spawn of Satan with a lot of familial issues.
Byungho grew up in a weird family. For the most part he adored his half brothers and he had had a special bond with his mother before she tragically died, but he never really knew how to think of his father, the devil himself. In Chan's humble opinion that was understandable, but for the reason most people thought. Sure, your father being the literally devil can put a strain on the relationship to him, but Lucifer wasn't in any way abusing towards his family unlike popular beliefs. He was more cryptic than anything.
Chan had met Lucifer on multiple occasions. After all, he was married to his son and Lucifer did have the decency of attending social gatherings like a wedding or school graduation. Byungho had also formally introduced Chan to his father, despite having voiced beforehand that he really hated the very thought of it.
Chan chuckled to himself when he remembered how long Byungho had debated on letting Chan and Lucifer meet officially. In the end, he had only done it because Seungmin had reminded him how bad it would be if they formally met for the first time at their wedding or something. Ironically, the wedding part had been a joke back there.
That train of thought brought Chan back to the very weird title he had acquired when he had married Byungho. He was the devil's son-in-law and just thinking about that was still somehow weird to Chan, but he could work with it.
A noise that came from the door ripped Chan out of his thoughts. He may not be in his wolf form, but his hearing was sharp anyhow. Someone had opened the door with a key and now stepped into the apartment with relaxed yet confident steps. Just hearing the footsteps let a knowing smile stretch itself onto Chan's face.
"I'm home," Byungho's smooth voice echoed through the hall. Chan's first instinct was to reply with 'Welcome home' but he slapped a hand over his mouth when his eyes focused back onto the sleeping baby girl that was surrounded by fluffy pillows.
The little girl hadn't stirred. Chan let his hand drop from his mouth and sighed in relief. Apparently, Byungho coming home - quite noisily for the ears of a hybrid - wasn't enough to wake her.
"Chan? Are you here?," Byungho's voice reached Chan's ear again from outside of the room. The wolf hybrid jumped a little bit. The brunet was a bit closer now and he sounded worried, which triggered a bit of panic in Chan. He still had to tell his husband about their baby girl and that Seungmin's little experiment had worked, but he didn't know how. His whole focus had been on his daughter the second Seungmin had called him to show her to him. Goodness gracious, he should have been more thoughtful about this.
The wolf hybrid took a deep breath and collected his wits. He cannot freak out now. Byungho had wanted a child as much as he did and they had discussed the topic of having a family together for some time now. This was absolutely fine and there was nothing to be nervous about. Okay, maybe Chan's name idea, but he will get to that when it comes up.
With one last deep breath, Chan turned towards the door of the bedroom, ready to face his husband. He laid his hand onto the doorknob and pulled the door open, a greeting for his mate already on his tongue.
"Welcome ho-," he stopped himself mid-greeting when he was faced with the glowing gold magic of his husband. Byungho stood tall before him, his hand covered in his golden magic, his eyes stern and glowing, but his majestic, gigantic, black wings were nowhere in sight.
Byungho let his shoulders slump the second they made eye contact, the golden magic disappearing at once. He let out a deep sigh and a bit of a chuckle before he brought his hands up to rub them down his face.
"For goodness sake, Chan. I could feel you being here and thought something was wrong when you didn't answer me. You scared me almost to death," the brunet groaned. Chan had to suppress a bit of a chuckle. He knew his husband was very protective of him, but he didn't think not answering his greeting when he came home would make him worry this much.
A part of Chan - probably his hybrid part - was incredibly pleased when Byungho said he had 'felt' Chan being home. It meant that even after being together for years and getting married that their soulmate bond grew stronger and stronger. Every hybrid basically dreamt of such a connection from a very young age, so actually having one with your partner was everything you could ever wish for to them.
"I'm sorry. I was a bit deep in thought," Chan explained, doing his best to sound apologetic and not amused. Byungho let out a huff, scrunching up his nose a little bit in displeasure. Chan loved the way Byungho would scrunch up his nose a little bit to communicate mild displeasure. It was something Chan had noticed over the years and slowly it dawned to him that their daughter may have inherited that particular habit.
Oh god how was Chan supposed to survive his husband and his daughter having such a cute habit. It was surely going to be the death of him.
Chan was ripped out of his thoughts when a warm hand laid itself onto his cheeks. It made the wolf hybrid automatically look into the dark eyes of his husband. Byungho watched him with mild worry and in the corner of his eyes Chan could see the other's wings coming into view.
Byungho's wings were something mesmerizing, especially in the way they seemed to move on their own accord. More often than not Byungho would surround Chan with his wings when they were just near each other. It was almost automatically and Chan loved it because he loved his husband's wings way too much. They were like a shield and a blanket, something that made Chan feel at ease instantly because they were a sign of comfort for both him and Byungho. For Byungho because it meant that he was comfortable enough to show them at all and for Chan because they were an unspoken promise of safety.
In a sudden realization, Chan's mind cleared enough to remind him that he had been staring at his husband's wings for the gods know how long without uttering a word. He made his soulmate worry while there was nothing to worry about!
"Anyway, welcome home, love," Chan quickly said and pecked his husband's lips almost habitual. Byungho still seemed concerned, his hand remained on Chan's cheek, warming the wolf hybrid in a way that was impossible for anyone else.
The concern in Byungho's eyes remained, but now it was paired with something else. Something that Chan was able to claim as his own because Byungho only showed it around him. It was undeniable and everlasting adoration and it made Chan's heart beat just a tad faster every time he saw it in the dark orbs that were his husband's eyes.
"Everything alright? You seem a bit antsy," the brunet asked, his voice calm, gentle and caring. The voice of his husband was so soothing that Chan almost forgot to dislike the fact that his soulmate could read him like an open book, which made surprises were so much harder to perform. Oh well, better get to the point now and not make it anymore complicated.
"Well, I have a surprise for you," Chan admitted, giving up on trying to hide his surprise any longer. Byungho raised an eye brow at that and let out a soft yet surprised "Oh?". It made Chan giddy for reasons he couldn't explain. Maybe it was just the thought of showing Byungho their daughter.
"I will just show you," Chan said, taking the hand that had been resting on his cheek into his own. Byungho blink owlishly at him but didn't protest in the slightest and just let it happen. It made the smile on Chan's lips only grow.
The wolf hybrid turned towards their shared bedroom and opened the barely closed door to reveal the little nest of pillows he had created earlier. He tugged his husband into the room and towards the little nest to get a better view of what was hidden between the soft cushions.
Chan's smile grew soft once more when he laid his eyes onto his sleeping daughter again. She was still resting peacefully, her small chest rising and falling with every breath she took while her little black wings occasionally twitched. Maybe she was dreaming about something.
A little squeeze of his hand made the wolf hybrid aware of the man beside him, asking him to look away from his daughter and towards his husband. Byungho was staring at the little girl with utter disbelief.
"So the spell worked," Byungho whispered barely audible. His tone was soft and low to not wake the sleeping baby. His dark eyes having left the little girl in front of him yet. Chan smiled softly at his husband and lightly squeezed his hand.
"Yeah, it did. Just took a bit longer than Seungmin had expected, which all things considered makes sense," Chan answered in a whisper. Officially, Byungho knew nothing of Seungmin's plan, but the burnet had been living with his younger half brother long enough to know when he was scheming something, so Chan never had to tell him anything because he already knew. They had a baby name list for reason.
"Goodness, Chan. They look perfect," the brunet breathed out, his tone full of adoration. Chan felt his chest swell at his husband's tone and maybe he could also feel tears prickling in his eyes. Byungho loved the little girl just as much as he did.
"They are a girl, according to Seungmin. Eleven months old and DNA-wise a perfect mix of you and me," Chan explained, letting go of his husband's hand only to step closer to the brunet and slip an arm around the other's waist. Byungho reciprocated the gesture by placing his hand on Chan's lower back and leaning a bit into the wolf hybrid while his right wing wrapped itself around Chan.
It made wolf hybrid's smile only soften even more because it felt so right and incredibly domestic at the same time. He would love to spend eternity in this moment if he had the power to stop time.
"Does she have a name yet?," Byungho asked after a short pause, his voice still soft and kept low. It was the question that should make Chan nervous because of the idea he had, but he couldn't bring himself to feel even remotely antsy. He felt contently warm on the inside and having his husband's wing wrapped securely around him left no space for worries that were irrational.
"No, but I had an idea when I picked her up for the first time," Chan whispered, laying his head onto Byungho's shoulder. It made the brunet turn his head and place a kiss on his partner's hairline almost automatically.
"What did you have in mind?," Byungho mumbled into Chan's silver curls before placing another kiss onto the unruly mob of hair. Chan hummed contently, his eyes remaining on their daughter. A bit of doubt clawed at his chest, but it was quickly chased away when Chan remembered Seungmin's reassuring words.
"I wanted to call her 'Eve' in honor of your mother," Chan suggested softly. A heartbeat passed and Chan could feel Byungho going complete still, almost frozen. It let worry bang against Chan's rip cage and he almost pulled away from the embrace to make sure his husband was fine, but then he could feel the other relax and smile into his hair before placing another kiss there.
"I think that's a wonderful idea," Byungho whispered warmly while he rubbed circles into Chan's lower back. Chan let himself smile softly and turned towards his husband, retracting the arm around the other's waist, so he could take the brunet's face into his hands and looking to the dark orbs that more often than not shimmered golden. Byungho blinked back at him with a bit of glassy eyes, but no tears.
"I love you, you know that?," Chan whispered, letting his thumps trace over his husband's cheek bones. The wolf hybrid could feel the soft smile that grew on the brunet's face under his palms, making him subconsciously mirror it.
"I know. I love you too," Byungho whispered back in the same tone Chan had previously used. It made the male with the silver curls chuckle softly before he leaned forward to kiss his husband.
One thing Chan will forever love about kissing Byungho, was the way his wings wrapped them both into cocoon of black feathers the second the brunet's hand made contact with Chan's waist. It was most likely something Byungho didn't realize he did, but it happened almost every time he had his wings out in the open.
The two pulled apart when they heard soft whining. When Byungho pulled his wings back and folded them on his back, the two were met with the golden eyes on their little daughter. The baby had a bit of a pout on her lips and kicked the air in mild protest. It almost seemed like she demanded to be included.
Byungho chuckled softly when he walked forward and carefully picked her up. He was almost to cautious because he hesitated a bit before he touched her like he wasn't sure if she was fine with being picked up by him.
The little girl on the other hand seemed almost excited to be picked up by the winged man. If Chan's smile could grow anymore soft it would at the scene before his eyes.
Byungho carefully adjusted the girl into his arms, being very mindful to make her position as comfortable as possible. The little one beamed at him and occasionally let out giggles while making grabby hands at him.
"Pa," she babbled mindlessly, being blissfully unaware of the way she melted the hearts of the two men. Chan stepped closer to the two, the soft smile still visible on his face. The baby let her eyes wander to him and let out an excited "Dada" while making grabby hands towards Chan.
"Hello there, Eve," Chan said and held his hand towards the little one. Immediately she grabbed Chan's pointer finger and continued to giggle.
"She seems to like her name. Right, Eve?," Byungho cooed, earning himself another giggle from the baby girl in his arms. Eve looked at her two fathers, her goofy smile only growing.
Yeah, that was her name now. Eve.
